  1. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
  2. And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.

  11. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
  12. But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,
  13. so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.
  14. Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
  15. Concerning Almsgiving

    “Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven.
  16. “Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
  17. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
  18. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;
  19. but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.
  20. Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
  21. For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
  22. If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
  23. Concerning Self-Deception

    “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
  24. I tell you, many will come from east and west and will eat with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
  25. As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
