  1. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
  2. saying, “I will proclaim Your name to My brothers, In the midst of the assembly I will sing Your praise.”
  3. Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
  4. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brothers so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
  5. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

  7. And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?
  8. Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who previously had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience,
  9. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let’s hold firmly to our confession.
  10. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin.
  11. The Perfect High Priest

    For every high priest taken from among men is appointed on behalf of people in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;
  12. he can deal gently with the ignorant and misguided, since he himself also is clothed in weakness;
  13. and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins for himself, as well as for the people.
  14. Concerning him we have much to say, and it is difficult to explain, since you have become poor listeners.
  15. and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.
  16. For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear an oath by no one greater, He swore by Himself,
  17. Therefore He is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
  18. For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens;
  19. who has no daily need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because He did this once for all time when He offered up Himself.
  20. Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who offer the gifts according to the Law;
  21. For I will be merciful toward their wrongdoings, And their sins I will no longer remember.”
  22. but into the second, only the high priest enters once a year, not without taking blood which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance.
  23. since they relate only to food, drink, and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation.
  24. For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the violations that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
  25. Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
