  27. Isaac's Birth Promised

    And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.
  28. God said, “No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.
  29. Escape there quickly, for I can do nothing till you arrive there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
  30. The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.
  31. The younger also bore a son and called his name Ben-ammi. He is the father of the Ammonites to this day.
  32. Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore him, Isaac.
  33. But God said to Abraham, “Be not displeased because of the boy and because of your slave woman. Whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for through Isaac shall your offspring be named.

  39. Abraham's Death and His Descendants

    Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah.
  40. These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, named in the order of their birth: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael; and Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,
  41. These are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their villages and by their encampments, twelve princes according to their tribes.
  42. The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so they called his name Esau.
  43. Afterward his brother came out with his hand holding Esau's heel, so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.

  76. So Jacob called the name of the place where God had spoken with him Bethel.

    It happened at that time that Judah went down from his brothers and turned aside to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.

  93. The name of the second he called Ephraim, “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
  94. Now these are the names of the descendants of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons. Reuben, Jacob's firstborn,
  95. And the children that you fathered after them shall be yours. They shall be called by the name of their brothers in their inheritance.
  96. the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys; and in them let my name be carried on, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”
  97. When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning on the threshing floor of Atad, they said, “This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians.” Therefore the place was named Abel-mizraim; it is beyond the Jordan.
