  1. Greeting

    Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God that is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia:
  2. God of All Comfort

    Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
  3. who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
  4. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
  5. And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all.
  6. Forgive the Sinner

    Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you.
  7. You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all.
  8. Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.
  9. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
  10. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
  11. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
  12. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
  13. For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;
  14. and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
  15. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
  16. I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.
  17. Therefore we are comforted. And besides our own comfort, we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.
  18. And his affection for you is even greater, as he remembers the obedience of you all, how you received him with fear and trembling.
  19. But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also.
  20. With him we are sending the brother who is famous among all the churches for his preaching of the gospel.
  21. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
  22. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others,
  23. For we are not overextending ourselves, as though we did not reach you. For we were the first to come all the way to you with the gospel of Christ.
  24. Even if I am unskilled in speaking, I am not so in knowledge; indeed, in every way we have made this plain to you in all things.
  25. And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.
