The Magi Visit the Messiah
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.

When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.

Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them,
