  1. The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”
  2. That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.
  3. and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
  4. Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
  5. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.
  6. He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
  7. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
  8. Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
  9. Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law

    Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.
  10. Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter,
  11. He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables
  12. so that, “‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’”
  13. “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.
  14. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”
  15. He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
  16. Jesus Calms the Storm

    That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”
  17. They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
  18. This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain.
  19. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
  20. And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.
  21. Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.
  22. “Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
  23. People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
  24. Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
  25. Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”
