  2. Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman

    Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John—
  3. Now he had to go through Samaria.
  4. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.
  5. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”
  6. The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
  7. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.
  8. Many Samaritans Believe

    Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”
  9. So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days.
  10. You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,
  11. Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

  16. Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;
  17. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
  18. So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
  19. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
