  1. Now Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers, saying to them, “Go and consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if I will recover from this injury.”
  2. But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?’
  3. And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.

  10. Famine in Besieged Samaria

    Some time later, Ben-Hadad king of Aram mobilized his entire army and marched up and laid siege to Samaria.
  11. Elisha replied, “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”
  12. So they selected two chariots with their horses, and the king sent them after the Aramean army. He commanded the drivers, “Go and find out what has happened.”
  13. It happened as the man of God had said to the king: “About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”
  14. To this day Edom has been in rebellion against Judah. Libnah revolted at the same time.
  15. Ahab’s Family Killed

    Now there were in Samaria seventy sons of the house of Ahab. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria: to the officials of Jezreel, to the elders and to the guardians of Ahab’s children. He said,
  16. Jehu then set out and went toward Samaria. At Beth Eked of the Shepherds,
  17. When Jehu came to Samaria, he killed all who were left there of Ahab’s family; he destroyed them, according to the word of the Lord spoken to Elijah.
  18. Jehu rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son succeeded him as king.
  19. The time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.
  20. Jehoahaz King of Israel

    In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seventeen years.
  21. But they did not turn away from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, which he had caused Israel to commit; they continued in them. Also, the Asherah pole remained standing in Samaria.
  22. Jehoahaz rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria. And Jehoash his son succeeded him as king.
  23. Jehoash King of Israel

    In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.
  24. Jehoash rested with his ancestors, and Jeroboam succeeded him on the throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
  25. He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the temple of the Lord and in the treasuries of the royal palace. He also took hostages and returned to Samaria.
