  1. Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

  9. The Darkness Turns to Light

    When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
  10. Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.
  11. Distressed and hungry, they will roam through the land; when they are famished, they will become enraged and, looking upward, will curse their king and their God.
  12. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
  13. God’s Judgment on Assyria

  14. I send him against a godless nation, I dispatch him against a people who anger me, to seize loot and snatch plunder, and to trample them down like mud in the streets.

  17. Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the pride and glory of the Babylonians, will be overthrown by God like Sodom and Gomorrah.
  18. You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.
  19. Yet some gleanings will remain, as when an olive tree is beaten, leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches, four or five on the fruitful boughs,” declares the Lord, the God of Israel.
  20. You have forgotten God your Savior; you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress. Therefore, though you set out the finest plants and plant imported vines,
  21. Look, here comes a man in a chariot with a team of horses. And he gives back the answer: ‘Babylon has fallen, has fallen! All the images of its gods lie shattered on the ground!’”
  22. My people who are crushed on the threshing floor, I tell you what I have heard from the Lord Almighty, from the God of Israel.
  23. The survivors of the archers, the warriors of Kedar, will be few.” The Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken.
  24. Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord; exalt the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea.
  25. Praise to the Lord

    Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.
