  1. In my judgment, she is happier if she stays as she is—and I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
  2. But whoever loves God is known by God.
  3. So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.”
  4. For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”),
  5. yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
  6. But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.
  7. But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
  8. For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?
  9. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law.
  10. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
  11. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
  12. No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.
  13. If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for?
  14. So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
  15. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God
  16. But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
  17. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.
  18. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
  19. Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
  20. If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.
  21. No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval.
  22. Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God by humiliating those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? Certainly not in this matter!
  23. Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
  24. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
  25. But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
