  1. “Say to Aaron: ‘For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God.
  2. No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the food offerings to the Lord. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God.
  3. He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food;
  4. and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.’”

  17. for the Israelites belong to me as servants. They are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
  18. Reward for Obedience

    “‘Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the Lord your God.
  19. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.
  20. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.
  21. Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely, breaking my covenant with them. I am the Lord their God.
  22. But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the Lord.’”
