When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send word to them and consecrate them, getting up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, “Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.

Despite all this, Job did not sin, nor did he blame God.

But he said to her, “You are speaking as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we actually accept good from God but not accept adversity?” Despite all this, Job did not sin with his lips.

Have I sinned? What have I done to You, Watcher of mankind? Why have You made me Your target, So that I am a burden to myself?

If your sons sinned against Him, Then He turned them over to the power of their wrongdoing.

That You should search for my guilt And carefully seek my sin?

If I have sinned, You will take note of me, And will not acquit me of my guilt.

How many are my guilty deeds and sins? Make known to me my wrongdoing and my sin.

Since his days are determined, The number of his months is with You; And You have set his limits so that he cannot pass.

For now You number my steps, You do not observe my sin.

They sing with the tambourine and harp, And rejoice at the sound of the flute.

Dryness and heat snatch away the snow waters, As Sheol snatches those who have sinned.

He sinks a shaft away from inhabited areas, Forgotten by the foot; They hang and swing, away from people.

The blessing of the one who was about to perish came upon me, And I made the widow’s heart sing for joy.

No, I have not allowed my mouth to sin By asking for his life in a curse.

My words are from the integrity of my heart, And my lips speak knowledge sincerely.

He will sing to people and say, ‘I have sinned and perverted what is right, And it is not proper for me.

Who shows no partiality to the prominent, Nor regards the rich as above the poor, Since they are all the work of His hands?

Oh that Job were tested to the limit, Because he answers like sinners.

For he adds rebellion to his sin; He claps his hands among us, And multiplies his words against God.’”

For you say, ‘What advantage will it be to You? What benefit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’

If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against Him? And if your wrongdoings are many, what do you do to Him?

Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the measuring line over it?
