  1. On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.
  2. Even the priests, who approach the Lord, must consecrate themselves, or the Lord will break out against them.”
  3. “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.
  4. “I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.

  6. Moses then wrote down everything the Lord had said. He got up early the next morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars representing the twelve tribes of Israel.
  7. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.”
  8. “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.
  9. In the tent of meeting, outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law, Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for the generations to come.
  10. “Do for Aaron and his sons everything I have commanded you, taking seven days to ordain them.
  11. “Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps.
  12. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you:
  13. For the Lord had said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go with you even for a moment, I might destroy you. Now take off your ornaments and I will decide what to do with you.’”
  14. No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain.”
  15. “The first offspring of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock.
  16. “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.
  17. From what you have, take an offering for the Lord. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the Lord an offering of gold, silver and bronze;
  18. “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded:
  19. and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved them came and brought an offering to the Lord for the work on the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.
  20. Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen, or goat hair, ram skins dyed red or the other durable leather brought them.
  21. Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the Lord, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it.
  22. Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun—blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen.
  23. So Bezalel, Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord has given skill and ability to know how to carry out all the work of constructing the sanctuary are to do the work just as the Lord has commanded.”
  24. Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord had given ability and who was willing to come and do the work.
  25. (Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything the Lord commanded Moses;
