13 E Ihowa, e to matou Atua, he ariki ke ano, i tua ake i a koe, i noho hei rangatira mo matou; mau anake ia matou ka mahara ai ki tou ingoa.

I taua ra: He mara waina, waiata atu koutou ki reira.

Ko ahau, ko Ihowa hei tiaki i a ia; hono tonu taku whakamakuku; ka tiakina e ahau i te po, i te ao, kei tukinotia.

Kahore he riri i roto i ahau. He kore noa no nga tataramoa, no nga tumatkauru hei whawhai mai ki ahau!

A Song of Praise

26 In that day(A) this song will be sung(B) in the land of Judah:

We have a strong city;(C)
    God makes salvation
    its walls(D) and ramparts.(E)
Open the gates(F)
    that the righteous(G) nation may enter,
    the nation that keeps faith.
You will keep in perfect peace(H)
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust(I) in you.
Trust(J) in the Lord forever,(K)
    for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock(L) eternal.
He humbles those who dwell on high,
    he lays the lofty city low;
he levels it to the ground(M)
    and casts it down to the dust.(N)
Feet trample(O) it down—
    the feet of the oppressed,(P)
    the footsteps of the poor.(Q)

The path of the righteous is level;(R)
    you, the Upright One,(S) make the way of the righteous smooth.(T)
Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws,[a](U)
    we wait(V) for you;
your name(W) and renown
    are the desire of our hearts.
My soul yearns for you in the night;(X)
    in the morning my spirit longs(Y) for you.
When your judgments(Z) come upon the earth,
    the people of the world learn righteousness.(AA)
10 But when grace is shown to the wicked,(AB)
    they do not learn righteousness;
even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil(AC)
    and do not regard(AD) the majesty of the Lord.
11 Lord, your hand is lifted high,(AE)
    but they do not see(AF) it.
Let them see your zeal(AG) for your people and be put to shame;(AH)
    let the fire(AI) reserved for your enemies consume them.

12 Lord, you establish peace(AJ) for us;
    all that we have accomplished you have done(AK) for us.
13 Lord our God, other lords(AL) besides you have ruled over us,
    but your name(AM) alone do we honor.(AN)
14 They are now dead,(AO) they live no more;
    their spirits(AP) do not rise.
You punished them and brought them to ruin;(AQ)
    you wiped out all memory of them.(AR)
15 You have enlarged the nation, Lord;
    you have enlarged the nation.(AS)
You have gained glory for yourself;
    you have extended all the borders(AT) of the land.

16 Lord, they came to you in their distress;(AU)
    when you disciplined(AV) them,
    they could barely whisper(AW) a prayer.[b]
17 As a pregnant woman about to give birth(AX)
    writhes and cries out in her pain,
    so were we in your presence, Lord.
18 We were with child, we writhed in labor,
    but we gave birth(AY) to wind.
We have not brought salvation(AZ) to the earth,
    and the people of the world have not come to life.(BA)

19 But your dead(BB) will live, Lord;
    their bodies will rise—
let those who dwell in the dust(BC)
    wake up and shout for joy—
your dew(BD) is like the dew of the morning;
    the earth will give birth to her dead.(BE)

20 Go, my people, enter your rooms
    and shut the doors(BF) behind you;
hide(BG) yourselves for a little while
    until his wrath(BH) has passed by.(BI)
21 See, the Lord is coming(BJ) out of his dwelling(BK)
    to punish(BL) the people of the earth for their sins.
The earth will disclose the blood(BM) shed on it;
    the earth will conceal its slain no longer.

Deliverance of Israel

27 In that day,(BN)

the Lord will punish with his sword(BO)
    his fierce, great and powerful sword—
Leviathan(BP) the gliding serpent,(BQ)
    Leviathan the coiling serpent;
he will slay the monster(BR) of the sea.

In that day(BS)

“Sing(BT) about a fruitful vineyard:(BU)
    I, the Lord, watch over it;
    I water(BV) it continually.
I guard(BW) it day and night
    so that no one may harm(BX) it.
    I am not angry.
If only there were briers and thorns confronting me!
    I would march against them in battle;
    I would set them all on fire.(BY)
Or else let them come to me for refuge;(BZ)
    let them make peace(CA) with me,
    yes, let them make peace with me.”

In days to come Jacob will take root,(CB)
    Israel will bud and blossom(CC)
    and fill all the world with fruit.(CD)

Has the Lord struck her
    as he struck(CE) down those who struck her?
Has she been killed
    as those were killed who killed her?
By warfare[c] and exile(CF) you contend with her—
    with his fierce blast he drives her out,
    as on a day the east wind(CG) blows.
By this, then, will Jacob’s guilt be atoned(CH) for,
    and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin:(CI)
When he makes all the altar stones(CJ)
    to be like limestone crushed to pieces,
no Asherah poles[d](CK) or incense altars(CL)
    will be left standing.
10 The fortified city stands desolate,(CM)
    an abandoned settlement, forsaken(CN) like the wilderness;
there the calves graze,(CO)
    there they lie down;(CP)
    they strip its branches bare.
11 When its twigs are dry, they are broken off(CQ)
    and women come and make fires(CR) with them.
For this is a people without understanding;(CS)
    so their Maker has no compassion on them,
    and their Creator(CT) shows them no favor.(CU)

12 In that day the Lord will thresh(CV) from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt,(CW) and you, Israel, will be gathered(CX) up one by one. 13 And in that day(CY) a great trumpet(CZ) will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled(DA) in Egypt(DB) will come and worship(DC) the Lord on the holy mountain(DD) in Jerusalem.

Na, ki te mea he whakamarie kei roto i a te Karaiti, ki te mea he pehi mamae to te aroha, ki te mea he whiwhinga tahitanga ki te Wairua, ki te mea he ngakau aroha, he mahi tohu,

Kia rite toku hari i a koutou, kia kotahi te whakaaro, kia kotahi te aroha, huihuia nga ngakau i runga i te whakaaro kotahi.

Kei meinga tetahi mea i runga i te wehewehe, i te whakapehapeha ranei, engari i runga i te ngakau papaku, me te whakanui a tetahi i tetahi ki runga ake i a ia;

Ko tenei hei whakaaro mo koutou, ko tera i a Karaiti Ihu:

Ahakoa hoki i a ia te ahua o te Atua, kihai i meinga e ia te rite ki te Atua hei taonga kapo mai;

Engari i mea i a ia ano kia poaha, ka mau ki te ahua o te pononga, ka meinga kia rite ki te tangata;

Na konei whakateiteitia ake ana ia e te Atua, a hoatu ana ki a ia te ingoa nui atu i nga ingoa katoa;

10 Kia tuku ai i runga i te ingoa o Ihu nga turi katoa, o nga mea i te rangi, o nga mea i te whenua, o nga mea i raro i te whenua;

11 A kia whakaae nga arero katoa ko Ihu Karaiti te Ariki, hei whakakororia i te Atua Matua.

12 Heoi e oku teina aroha, he mea tonu ia na koutou te ngohengohe ki ahau i nga wa katoa, ehara i te mea i oku wa anake i kona, engari rawa ia inaianei i ahau kahore i kona, na whakaotia to koutou whakaoranga i runga i te wehi, i te wiri;

13 Ko te Atua hoki te kaimahi i roto i a koutou o te hiahia, o te mahi, hei mea i tana i pai ai.

14 I a koutou mahi katoa kaua te amuamu, te tautohetohe;

15 Kia kore ai koutou e whaikupuria, kia tapatahi ai, he tamariki kohakore na te Atua, i waenganui o te whakatupuranga tutu, parori ke, kei roto nei koutou i a ratou e tiaho ana hei rama i te ao;

18 Waihoki ko koutou, kia hari, hari tahi me ahau.

25 I ea ano ia ahau me tono atu ki a koutou a Epaporitu, toku teina, toku hoa mahi, toku hoa hoia, na koutou ia karere, he kaimahi ano hoki i nga mea i matea e ahau.

26 Koinga tonu hoki ia ki a koutou katoa, kanohi rawa, no te mea i rongo koutou he turoro ia.

27 He turoro ra hoki ia, tata pu ki te mate: otira i tohungia ia e te Atua; ehara ano i te mea ko ia anake, ko ahau ano hoki, kei tapiritia he pouri ki toku pouri.

28 Koia i nui rawa ai toku ngakau ki te tono atu i a ia, kia kite ai ano koutou i a ia, kia hari ai, kia taharahara iho ai hoki toku pouri.

29 Kia nui te hari i runga i te Ariki, ina tae atu ia; whakahonoretia ano hoki nga pera;

30 No te mea na te mahi ki a te Karaiti i tata ai ia ki te mate, te ihupuku ki te ora, kia rite ai i a ia nga mahi ki ahau, kihai nei i rite i a koutou.

Imitating Christ’s Humility

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit,(A) if any tenderness and compassion,(B) then make my joy complete(C) by being like-minded,(D) having the same love, being one(E) in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.(F) Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,(G) not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.(H)

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:(I)

Who, being in very nature[a] God,(J)
    did not consider equality with God(K) something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing(L)
    by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,(M)
    being made in human likeness.(N)
And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death(O)
        even death on a cross!(P)

Therefore God exalted him(Q) to the highest place
    and gave him the name that is above every name,(R)
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,(S)
    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,(T)
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,(U)
    to the glory of God the Father.

Do Everything Without Grumbling

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,(V) 13 for it is God who works in you(W) to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.(X)

14 Do everything without grumbling(Y) or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless(Z) and pure, “children of God(AA) without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c](AB) Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ(AC) that I did not run(AD) or labor in vain.(AE) 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering(AF) on the sacrifice(AG) and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.(AH) 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

Timothy and Epaphroditus

19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy(AI) to you soon,(AJ) that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. 20 I have no one else like him,(AK) who will show genuine concern for your welfare. 21 For everyone looks out for their own interests,(AL) not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father(AM) he has served with me in the work of the gospel. 23 I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me.(AN) 24 And I am confident(AO) in the Lord that I myself will come soon.

25 But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker(AP) and fellow soldier,(AQ) who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs.(AR) 26 For he longs for all of you(AS) and is distressed because you heard he was ill. 27 Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. 28 Therefore I am all the more eager to send him,(AT) so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety. 29 So then, welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him,(AU) 30 because he almost died for the work of Christ. He risked his life to make up for the help you yourselves could not give me.(AV)
