¹⁴     The cowering prisoners will soon be set free;^(A)
they will not die in their dungeon,
    nor will they lack bread.^(B)

¹⁹ “The Lord looked down^(A) from his sanctuary on high,
    from heaven he viewed the earth,
²⁰ to hear the groans of the prisoners^(B)
    and release those condemned to death.”
²¹ So the name of the Lord will be declared^(C) in Zion
    and his praise^(D) in Jerusalem

⁷ to open eyes that are blind,^(A)
    to free^(B) captives from prison^(C)
    and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.^(D)

¹⁰ Some sat in darkness,^(A) in utter darkness,
    prisoners suffering^(B) in iron chains,^(C)
11 because they rebelled^(D) against God’s commands
    and despised^(E) the plans^(F) of the Most High.
¹² So he subjected them to bitter labor;
    they stumbled, and there was no one to help.^(G)
13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he saved them^(H) from their distress.
¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness,^(I) the utter darkness,^(J)
    and broke away their chains.^(K)
15 Let them give thanks^(L) to the Lord for his unfailing love^(M)
    and his wonderful deeds^(N) for mankind,
¹⁶ for he breaks down gates of bronze
    and cuts through bars of iron.
