12 “Listen! I am coming soon! I will bring my reward with me, and I will repay each one of you for what you have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega,[a] the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes[b] so that they will receive the right to eat the fruit from the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

- 22:13 Alpha and the Omega The first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. This means “the beginning and the end.”
- 22:14 wash their robes This means they believed and obeyed Jesus so that their sins could be forgiven by Christ’s blood. The “washing” may refer to baptism (Acts 22:16).
