¹⁹ Then God’s temple^(A) in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant.^(B) And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder,^(C) an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.^(D)

²¹ From the sky huge hailstones,^(A) each weighing about a hundred pounds,^[a] fell on people. And they cursed God^(B) on account of the plague of hail,^(C) because the plague was so terrible.

⁵ After this I looked, and I saw in heaven the temple^(A)—that is, the tabernacle of the covenant law^(B)—and it was opened.^{(C) 6} Out of the temple^(D) came the seven angels with the seven plagues.^(E) They were dressed in clean, shining linen^(F) and wore golden sashes around their chests.^{(G) 7} Then one of the four living creatures^(H) gave to the seven angels^(I) seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever.^{(J) 8} And the temple was filled with smoke^(K) from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple^(L) until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

²² I will execute judgment^(A) on him with plague and bloodshed;^(B) I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones^(C) and burning sulfur^(D) on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him.^(E)

⁵ From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder.^(A) In front of the throne, seven lamps^(B) were blazing. These are the seven spirits^[a](C) of God.

⁵ Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar,^(A) and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder,^(B) rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.^(C)

The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast

¹¹ I saw heaven standing open^(A) and there before me was a white horse, whose rider^(B) is called Faithful and True.^(C) With justice he judges and wages war.^(D)

¹⁵ Then another angel came out of the temple^(A) and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, “Take your sickle^(B) and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest^(C) of the earth is ripe.” ¹⁶ So he who was seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.

¹⁷ Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle.^(D)
