Grieving over the Destruction of Jerusalem, and Prayer for Help.

A Psalm of Asaph.

79 God, the (A)nations have [a]invaded (B)Your inheritance;
They have defiled Your (C)holy temple;
They have (D)laid Jerusalem in ruins.
They have given the (E)dead bodies of Your servants to the birds of the sky as food,
The flesh of Your godly ones to the animals of the earth.
They have poured out their blood like water all around Jerusalem;
And there was (F)no one to bury them.
We have become a (G)disgrace before our neighbors,
An object of derision and ridicule to those around us.
(H)How long, Lord? Will You be angry forever?
Will Your (I)jealousy (J)burn like fire?
(K)Pour out Your wrath upon the nations which (L)do not know You,
And upon the kingdoms which (M)do not call upon Your name.
For they have (N)devoured Jacob
And (O)laid waste his [b]settlement.

(P)Do not [c]hold us responsible for [d]the guilty deeds of our forefathers;
Let Your compassion come quickly to (Q)meet us,
For we have (R)become very low.
(S)Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of (T)Your name;
And save us and [e](U)forgive our sins (V)for the sake of Your name.
10 (W)Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”
Let (X)vengeance for the blood of Your servants which has been shed
Be known among the nations in our sight.
11 Let (Y)the groaning of the prisoner come before You;
According to the greatness of Your [f]power, let [g]those who are (Z)doomed to die remain.
12 And return to our neighbors (AA)seven times as much (AB)into their lap
Their (AC)taunts with which they have taunted You, Lord.
13 So we Your people and the (AD)sheep of Your [h]pasture
Will (AE)give thanks to You forever;
To all generations we will (AF)tell of Your praise.

God Implored to Rescue His People from Their Calamities.

For the music director; set to [i]El Shoshannim; [j]Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph.

80 Listen, (AG)Shepherd of Israel,
Who leads (AH)Joseph like a flock;
You who (AI)are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!
Before (AJ)Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, (AK)awaken Your power,
And come to save us!
God, (AL)restore us
And (AM)make Your face shine upon us, [k]and we will be saved.

(AN)Lord God of armies,
(AO)How long will You [l]be angry with the prayer of Your people?
You have fed them with the (AP)bread of tears,
And You have made them drink tears in [m]large measure.
You make us [n]an object of contention (AQ)to our neighbors,
And our enemies laugh among themselves.
God of armies, restore us
And make Your face shine upon us, [o]and we will be saved.

You removed a (AR)vine from Egypt;
You (AS)drove out the [p]nations and (AT)planted it.
You (AU)cleared the ground before it,
And it (AV)took deep root and filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with its shadow,
And [q]the cedars of God with its (AW)branches.
11 It was sending out its branches (AX)to the sea
And its shoots to the Euphrates River.
12 Why have You (AY)broken down its [r]hedges,
So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?
13 A boar from the forest (AZ)eats it away,
And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

14 God of armies, do (BA)turn back;
(BB)Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,
15 The [s](BC)shoot which Your right hand has planted,
And of the [t]son whom You have [u]strengthened for Yourself.
16 It is (BD)burned with fire, it is cut down;
They perish from the (BE)rebuke of Your face.
17 Let (BF)Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,
Upon the son of man whom You (BG)made strong for Yourself.
18 Then we will not (BH)turn back from You;
(BI)Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
19 Lord God of armies, (BJ)restore us;
Make Your face shine upon us, [v]and we will be saved.

God’s Goodness and Israel’s Waywardness.

For the music director; [w]on the Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph.

81 (BK)Sing for joy to God our (BL)strength;
Shout (BM)joyfully to the (BN)God of Jacob.
Raise a song, strike (BO)the tambourine,
The sweet sounding (BP)lyre with the (BQ)harp.
Blow the trumpet at the (BR)new moon,
At the full moon, on our (BS)feast day.
For it is a statute for Israel,
An ordinance of the God of Jacob.
He established it as a testimony in Joseph
When he [x](BT)went throughout the land of Egypt.
I heard a (BU)language I did not know:

“I [y](BV)relieved his shoulder of the burden,
His hands were freed from the [z]basket.
You (BW)called in trouble and I rescued you;
I (BX)answered you in the hiding place of thunder;
I put you to the test at the (BY)waters of Meribah. Selah
(BZ)Hear, My people, and I will admonish you;
Israel, if you (CA)would listen to Me!
There shall be no (CB)strange god among you;
Nor shall you worship a foreign god.
10 (CC)I, the Lord, am your God,
Who brought you up from the land of Egypt;
(CD)Open your mouth wide and I will (CE)fill it.

11 “But My people (CF)did not listen to My voice,
And Israel did not [aa]obey Me.
12 So I (CG)gave [ab]them over to the stubbornness of their heart,
To walk by their own plans.
13 Oh that My people (CH)would listen to Me,
That Israel would (CI)walk in My ways!
14 I would quickly (CJ)subdue their enemies
And (CK)turn My hand against their adversaries.
15 (CL)Those who hate the Lord would (CM)pretend to obey Him,
And their time of punishment would be forever.
16 [ac]But I would feed you with the [ad](CN)finest of the wheat,
And with (CO)honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

Unjust Judgments Rebuked.

A Psalm of Asaph.

82 God takes His (CP)position in [ae]His assembly;
He (CQ)judges in the midst of the (CR)gods.
How long will you (CS)judge unjustly
And (CT)show partiality to the wicked? Selah
(CU)Vindicate the weak and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
(CV)Rescue the weak and needy;
Save them from the hand of the wicked.

They (CW)do not know nor do they understand;
They (CX)walk around in darkness;
All the (CY)foundations of the earth are shaken.
[af]I (CZ)said, “You are gods,
And all of you are (DA)sons of the Most High.
Nevertheless (DB)you will die like men,
And fall like (DC)one of the princes.”
(DD)Arise, God, (DE)judge the earth!
For You (DF)possess all the nations.

God Implored to Confound His Enemies.

A Song, a Psalm of Asaph.

83 God, (DG)do not remain quiet;
(DH)Do not be silent and, God, do not be still.
For behold, Your enemies (DI)make an uproar,
And (DJ)those who hate You have [ag](DK)exalted themselves.
They (DL)make shrewd plans against Your people,
And [ah]conspire together against (DM)Your [ai]treasured ones.
They have said, “Come, and (DN)let’s wipe them out [aj]as a nation,
So that the (DO)name of Israel will no longer be remembered.”
For they have [ak](DP)conspired together with one mind;
They make a covenant against You:
The tents of (DQ)Edom and the (DR)Ishmaelites,
(DS)Moab and the (DT)Hagrites;
(DU)Gebal, (DV)Ammon, and (DW)Amalek,
(DX)Philistia with the inhabitants of (DY)Tyre;
(DZ)Assyria also has joined them;
They have become [al]a help to the (EA)children of Lot. Selah

Deal with them (EB)as with Midian,
As (EC)with Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon,
10 Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who (ED)became like dung for the ground.
11 Make their nobles like (EE)Oreb and Zeeb,
And all their leaders like (EF)Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 Who said, “(EG)Let’s possess for ourselves
The (EH)pastures of God.”

13 My God, make them like the [am](EI)whirling dust,
Like (EJ)chaff before the wind.
14 Like (EK)fire that burns the forest,
And like a flame that (EL)sets the mountains on fire,
15 So pursue them (EM)with Your heavy gale,
And terrify them with Your storm.
16 (EN)Fill their faces with dishonor,
So that they will seek Your name, Lord.
17 May they be (EO)ashamed and dismayed forever,
And may they be humiliated and perish,
18 So that they will (EP)know that (EQ)You alone, whose name is the Lord,
Are the (ER)Most High over all the earth.

Longing for the Temple Worship.

For the music director; [an]on the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

84 How lovely are Your (ES)dwelling places,
Lord of armies!
My (ET)soul longed and even yearned for the courtyards of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the (EU)living God.
The bird also has found a house,
And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may put her young:
Your (EV)altars, Lord of armies,
(EW)My King and my God.
(EX)Blessed are those who dwell in Your house!
They are (EY)ever praising You. Selah

Blessed is the person whose (EZ)strength is in You,
In [ao]whose heart are the (FA)roads to Zion!
Passing through the Valley of [ap]Baca they make it a [aq]spring;
The (FB)early rain also covers it with blessings.
They (FC)go from strength to strength,
[ar]Every one of them (FD)appears before God in Zion.

(FE)Lord God of armies, hear my prayer;
Listen, (FF)God of Jacob! Selah
See our (FG)shield, God,
And look at the face of (FH)Your anointed.
10 For (FI)a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than live in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is (FJ)a sun and (FK)shield;
The Lord gives grace and (FL)glory;
(FM)He withholds no good thing [as]from those who walk with integrity.
12 Lord of armies,
(FN)Blessed is the person who trusts in You!

Prayer for God’s Mercy upon the Nation.

For the music director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

85 Lord, You showed (FO)favor to Your land;
You (FP)restored the fortunes of Jacob.
You (FQ)forgave the guilt of Your people;
You (FR)covered all their sin. Selah
You (FS)withdrew all Your fury;
You (FT)turned away from Your burning anger.

(FU)Restore us, God of our salvation,
And (FV)cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
Will (FW)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to [at]all generations?
Will You not [au](FX)revive us again,
So that Your people may (FY)rejoice in You?
Show us Your mercy, Lord,
And (FZ)grant us Your salvation.

[av]I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will (GA)speak peace to His people, to His godly ones;
And may they not (GB)turn back to [aw]foolishness.
Certainly (GC)His salvation is near to those who [ax]fear Him,
That (GD)glory may dwell in our land.
10 (GE)Graciousness and [ay]truth have met together;
(GF)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 [az]Truth (GG)sprouts from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 Indeed, (GH)the Lord will give what is good,
And our (GI)land will yield its produce.
13 (GJ)Righteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.

Pleading and Trust.

A Prayer of David.

86 (GK)Incline Your ear, Lord, and answer me;
For I am (GL)afflicted and needy.
(GM)Protect my [ba]soul, for I am (GN)godly;
You my God, save Your servant who (GO)trusts in You.
Be (GP)gracious to me, Lord,
For (GQ)I call upon You all day long.
Make the soul of Your servant joyful,
For to You, Lord, (GR)I lift up my soul.
For You, Lord, are (GS)good, and (GT)ready to forgive,
And (GU)abundant in mercy to all who call upon You.
(GV)Listen, Lord, to my prayer;
And give Your attention to the sound of my pleading!
On (GW)the day of my trouble I will call upon You,
For (GX)You will answer me.
There is (GY)no one like You among the gods, Lord,
Nor are there any works (GZ)like Yours.
(HA)All nations whom You have made will come and worship before You, Lord,
And they will glorify Your name.
10 For You are (HB)great, and you (HC)do [bb]wondrous deeds;
You alone (HD)are God.

11 (HE)Teach me Your way, Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
(HF)Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will (HG)give thanks to You, Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forever.
13 For Your graciousness toward me is great,
And You have (HH)saved my soul from the [bc]depths of [bd]Sheol.

14 God, arrogant men have (HI)risen up against me,
And a gang of violent men have sought my [be]life,
And they have not set You before them.
15 But You, Lord, are a (HJ)compassionate and gracious God,
Slow to anger and abundant in mercy and [bf]truth.
16 (HK)Turn to me, and be gracious to me;
(HL)Grant Your strength to Your servant,
And save the (HM)son of Your maidservant.
17 (HN)Show me a sign of good,
That those who hate me may (HO)see it and be ashamed,
Because You, Lord, (HP)have helped me and comforted me.

The Privileges of Citizenship in Zion.

A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song.

87 His (HQ)foundation is in the holy mountains.
The Lord (HR)loves the gates of Zion
More than all the other dwelling places of Jacob.
(HS)Glorious things are spoken of you,
(HT)City of God. Selah
“I shall mention [bg](HU)Rahab and Babylon [bh]among those who know Me;
Behold, Philistia and (HV)Tyre with [bi](HW)Cush:
‘This one was born there.’”
But of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her”;
And the Most High Himself will (HX)establish her.
The Lord will count when He (HY)registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah
Then those who (HZ)sing as well as those who [bj](IA)play the flutes will say,
“All my (IB)springs of joy are in you.”

A Petition to Be Saved from Death.

A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. For the music director; according to Mahalath Leannoth. A [bk]Maskil of Heman [bl]the Ezrahite.

88 Lord, the (IC)God of my salvation,
I have (ID)cried out by day and in the night before You.
Let my prayer (IE)come before You;
(IF)Incline Your ear to my cry!
For my (IG)soul has [bm]had enough troubles,
And (IH)my life has approached [bn]Sheol.
I am counted among those who (II)go down to the pit;
I have become like a man (IJ)without strength,
[bo]Abandoned (IK)among the dead,
Like the slain who lie in the grave,
Whom You no longer remember,
And they are (IL)cut off from Your hand.
You have put me in (IM)the lowest pit,
In (IN)dark places, in the (IO)depths.
Your wrath (IP)has rested upon me,
And You have afflicted me with (IQ)all Your waves. Selah
You have removed (IR)my acquaintances far from me;
You have made me an [bp](IS)object of loathing to them;
I am (IT)shut up and cannot go out.
My (IU)eye grows dim from misery;
I have (IV)called upon You every day, Lord;
I have (IW)spread out my [bq]hands to You.

10 Will You perform wonders for the dead?
Or will (IX)the departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah
11 Will Your graciousness be declared in the grave,
Your faithfulness in [br]Abaddon?
12 Will Your wonders be made known in the (IY)darkness?
And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But I, Lord, have cried out (IZ)to You for help,
And (JA)in the morning my prayer comes before You.
14 Lord, why (JB)do You reject my soul?
Why do You (JC)hide Your face from me?
15 I was miserable and (JD)about to die from my youth on;
I suffer (JE)Your terrors; I grow weary.
16 Your (JF)burning anger has passed over me;
Your terrors have [bs](JG)destroyed me.
17 They have (JH)surrounded me (JI)like water all day long;
They have (JJ)encircled me altogether.
18 You have removed (JK)lover and friend far from me;
My acquaintances are in a hiding place.

The Lords Covenant with David and Israel’s Afflictions.

A [bt]Maskil of [bu]Ethan [bv]the Ezrahite.

89 I will (JL)sing of the graciousness of the Lord forever;
To all generations I will (JM)make Your (JN)faithfulness known with my mouth.
For I have said, “(JO)Graciousness will be built up forever;
In the heavens You will establish Your (JP)faithfulness.”
“I have made a covenant with (JQ)My chosen;
I have (JR)sworn to My servant David,
I will establish your [bw](JS)descendants forever
And build up your (JT)throne to all generations.” Selah

The (JU)heavens will praise Your wonders, Lord;
Your faithfulness also (JV)in the assembly of the (JW)holy ones.
For (JX)who in the skies is comparable to the Lord?
Who among the [bx](JY)sons of the mighty is like the Lord,
A God (JZ)greatly feared in the council of the (KA)holy ones,
And (KB)awesome above all those who are around Him?
Lord God of armies, (KC)who is like You, mighty [by]Lord?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
You rule the surging of the sea;
When its waves rise, You (KD)calm them.
10 You Yourself crushed [bz](KE)Rahab like one who is slain;
You (KF)scattered Your enemies with [ca]Your mighty arm.

11 The (KG)heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours;
The (KH)world and [cb]all it contains, You have established them.
12 The (KI)north and the south, You have created them;
(KJ)Tabor and (KK)Hermon (KL)shout for joy at Your name.
13 You have [cc]a strong arm;
Your hand is mighty, Your (KM)right hand is exalted.
14 (KN)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
(KO)Mercy and [cd]truth go before You.
15 Blessed are the people who know the [ce](KP)joyful sound!
Lord, they walk in the (KQ)light of Your face.
16 In (KR)Your name they rejoice all the day,
And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
17 For You are the glory of (KS)their strength,
And by Your favor [cf]our (KT)horn is exalted.
18 For our (KU)shield belongs to the Lord,
[cg]And our king to the (KV)Holy One of Israel.

19 [ch]Once You spoke in vision to Your godly [ci]ones,
And said, “I have [cj]given help to one who is (KW)mighty;
I have exalted one (KX)chosen from the people.
20 I have (KY)found My servant David;
With My holy (KZ)oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom (LA)My hand will be established;
My arm also will (LB)strengthen him.
22 The enemy will not [ck]deceive him,
Nor will the [cl](LC)son of wickedness afflict him.
23 But I will (LD)crush his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
24 My (LE)faithfulness and My favor will be with him,
And in My name his (LF)horn will be exalted.
25 I will also place his hand (LG)on the sea,
And his right hand on the rivers.
26 He will call to Me, ‘You are (LH)my Father,
My God, and the (LI)rock of my salvation.’
27 I will also make him My (LJ)firstborn,
The (LK)highest of the kings of the earth.
28 I will maintain My (LL)favor for him forever,
And My (LM)covenant shall be confirmed to him.
29 So I will establish his [cm](LN)descendants forever,
And his (LO)throne (LP)as the days of heaven.

30 “If his sons (LQ)abandon My Law
And do not walk in My judgments,
31 If they [cn]violate My statutes
And do not keep My commandments,
32 Then I will punish their wrongdoing with the (LR)rod,
And their guilt with [co]afflictions.
33 But I will not [cp]withhold (LS)My favor from him,
Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
34 I will not [cq]violate My (LT)covenant,
Nor will I (LU)alter [cr]the utterance of My lips.
35 [cs]Once I have (LV)sworn by My holiness;
I will not lie to David.
36 His [ct](LW)descendants shall endure forever,
And his (LX)throne (LY)as the sun before Me.
37 It shall be established forever (LZ)like the moon,
And a (MA)witness in the sky is faithful.” Selah

38 But You have (MB)rejected and (MC)refused,
You have been full of wrath [cu]against Your (MD)anointed.
39 You have [cv](ME)repudiated the covenant of Your servant;
You have (MF)profaned (MG)his crown [cw]in the dust.
40 You have (MH)broken down all his walls;
You have (MI)brought his strongholds to ruin.
41 (MJ)All who pass along the way plunder him;
He has become a (MK)disgrace to his neighbors.
42 You have (ML)exalted the right hand of his adversaries;
You have (MM)made all his enemies rejoice.
43 You also turn back the edge of his sword,
And have (MN)not made him stand in battle.
44 You have put an end to his [cx](MO)splendor
And cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have (MP)shortened the days of his youth;
You have (MQ)covered him with shame. Selah

46 (MR)How long, Lord?
Will You hide Yourself forever?
Will Your (MS)wrath burn like fire?
47 (MT)Remember [cy]what my lifespan is;
For what (MU)futility [cz]You have created all the sons of mankind!
48 What man can live and not (MV)see death?
Can he (MW)save his soul from the [da]power of [db]Sheol? Selah

49 Where are Your former acts of favor, Lord,
Which You (MX)swore to David in Your faithfulness?
50 Remember, Lord, the (MY)taunt against Your servants;
[dc]How I carry in my heart the taunts of all the many peoples,
51 With which (MZ)Your enemies have taunted, Lord,
With which they have taunted the footsteps of (NA)Your anointed.

52 (NB)Blessed be the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen.

BOOK 4

God’s Eternity and the Brevity of Human Life.

A Prayer of [dd]Moses, the man of God.

90 Lord, You have been our [de](NC)dwelling place in all generations.
Before (ND)the mountains were born
[df]Or You (NE)gave birth to the earth and the world,
Even (NF)from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

You (NG)turn mortals back into dust
And say, “Return, you sons of mankind.”
For (NH)a thousand years in Your sight
Are like (NI)yesterday when it passes by,
[dg]Or like a (NJ)watch in the night.
You (NK)have [dh]swept them away like a flood, they [di](NL)fall asleep;
In the morning they are like (NM)grass that [dj]sprouts anew.
In the morning it (NN)flourishes and [dk]sprouts anew;
Toward evening it (NO)wilts and (NP)withers away.

For we have been (NQ)consumed by Your anger,
And we have been terrified by Your wrath.
You have (NR)placed our guilty deeds before You,
Our (NS)hidden sins in the light of Your presence.
For (NT)all our days have dwindled away in Your fury;
We have finished our years like a [dl]sigh.
10 As for the days of our [dm]life, [dn]they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength, (NU)eighty years,
Yet their pride is only (NV)trouble and tragedy;
For it quickly passes, and we (NW)disappear.
11 Who [do]understands the (NX)power of Your anger
And Your fury, according to the (NY)fear [dp]that is due You?
12 So (NZ)teach us to number our days,
That we may [dq](OA)present to You a heart of wisdom.

13 Do (OB)return, Lord; (OC)how long will it be?
And [dr]be (OD)sorry for Your servants.
14 (OE)Satisfy us in the morning with Your graciousness,
That we may (OF)sing for joy and rejoice all our days.
15 (OG)Make us glad [ds]according to the days You have afflicted us,
And the (OH)years we have seen [dt]evil.
16 Let Your (OI)work appear to Your servants
And Your (OJ)majesty [du]to their children.
17 May the (OK)kindness of the Lord our God be upon us;
And [dv](OL)confirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes, [dw]confirm the work of our hands.

Security of One Who Trusts in the Lord.

91 One who dwells in the (OM)shelter of the Most High
Will lodge in the (ON)shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My (OO)refuge and my (OP)fortress,
My God, in whom I (OQ)trust!”
For it is He who rescues you from the (OR)net of the trapper
And from the deadly (OS)plague.
He will (OT)cover you with His pinions,
And (OU)under His wings you may take refuge;
His (OV)faithfulness is a (OW)shield and wall.

You (OX)will not be afraid of the (OY)terror by night,
Or of the (OZ)arrow that flies by day;
Of the (PA)plague that [dx]stalks in darkness,
Or of the (PB)destruction that devastates at noon.
A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But (PC)it shall not approach you.
You will only look on with your eyes
And (PD)see the retaliation against the wicked.
[dy]For you have made the Lord, (PE)my refuge,
The Most High, (PF)your dwelling place.
10 (PG)No evil will happen to you,
Nor will any plague come near your [dz]tent.

11 For He will give (PH)His angels orders concerning you,
To protect you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will (PI)lift you up,
So that you do not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will (PJ)walk upon the lion and cobra,
You will trample the young lion and the [ea]serpent.

14 (PK)Because he has loved Me, I will save him;
I will (PL)set him securely on high, because he has (PM)known My name.
15 He will (PN)call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in [eb]trouble;
I will rescue him and (PO)honor him.
16 I will satisfy him with [ec]a (PP)long life,
And [ed](PQ)show him My salvation.”

Praise for the Lords Goodness.

A Psalm, a Song for the Sabbath day.

92 It is (PR)good to give thanks to the Lord
And to (PS)sing praises to Your name, Most High;
To (PT)declare Your goodness in the morning
And Your (PU)faithfulness by [ee]night,
[ef]With the (PV)ten-stringed lute and [eg]with the (PW)harp,
[eh]With resounding music on the (PX)lyre.
For You, Lord, have made me joyful by [ei]what You (PY)have done,
I will (PZ)sing for joy over the (QA)works of Your hands.

How (QB)great are Your works, Lord!
Your [ej](QC)thoughts are very (QD)deep.
A (QE)stupid person has no knowledge,
Nor does a (QF)foolish person understand this:
When the wicked (QG)sprouted up like grass
And all (QH)who did injustice flourished,
It was only that they might be (QI)destroyed forevermore.
But You, Lord, are (QJ)on high forever.
For, behold, Your enemies, Lord,
For, behold, (QK)Your enemies will perish;
All who do injustice will be (QL)scattered.

10 But You have exalted my (QM)horn like that of the wild ox;
I have [ek]been (QN)anointed with fresh oil.
11 And my eye has (QO)looked at my enemies,
My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me.
12 The (QP)righteous person will [el]flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a (QQ)cedar in Lebanon.
13 (QR)Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish (QS)in the courtyards of our God.
14 They will still [em](QT)yield fruit in advanced age;
They will be [en]full of sap and very green,
15 To [eo]declare that (QU)the Lord is just;
He is my (QV)rock, and there is (QW)no malice in Him.

Psalm 79

A psalm of Asaph.

O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance;(A)
    they have defiled(B) your holy temple,
    they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.(C)
They have left the dead bodies of your servants
    as food for the birds of the sky,(D)
    the flesh of your own people for the animals of the wild.(E)
They have poured out blood like water
    all around Jerusalem,
    and there is no one to bury(F) the dead.(G)
We are objects of contempt to our neighbors,
    of scorn(H) and derision to those around us.(I)

How long,(J) Lord? Will you be angry(K) forever?
    How long will your jealousy burn like fire?(L)
Pour out your wrath(M) on the nations
    that do not acknowledge(N) you,
on the kingdoms
    that do not call on your name;(O)
for they have devoured(P) Jacob
    and devastated his homeland.

Do not hold against us the sins of past generations;(Q)
    may your mercy come quickly to meet us,
    for we are in desperate need.(R)
Help us,(S) God our Savior,
    for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
    for your name’s sake.(T)
10 Why should the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”(U)

Before our eyes, make known among the nations
    that you avenge(V) the outpoured blood(W) of your servants.
11 May the groans of the prisoners come before you;
    with your strong arm preserve those condemned to die.
12 Pay back into the laps(X) of our neighbors seven times(Y)
    the contempt they have hurled at you, Lord.
13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture,(Z)
    will praise you forever;(AA)
from generation to generation
    we will proclaim your praise.

Psalm 80[a]

For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” Of Asaph. A psalm.

Hear us, Shepherd of Israel,
    you who lead Joseph like a flock.(AB)
You who sit enthroned between the cherubim,(AC)
    shine forth before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.(AD)
Awaken(AE) your might;
    come and save us.(AF)

Restore(AG) us,(AH) O God;
    make your face shine on us,
    that we may be saved.(AI)

How long,(AJ) Lord God Almighty,
    will your anger smolder(AK)
    against the prayers of your people?
You have fed them with the bread of tears;(AL)
    you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.(AM)
You have made us an object of derision[b] to our neighbors,
    and our enemies mock us.(AN)

Restore us, God Almighty;
    make your face shine on us,
    that we may be saved.(AO)

You transplanted a vine(AP) from Egypt;
    you drove out(AQ) the nations and planted(AR) it.
You cleared the ground for it,
    and it took root and filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with its shade,
    the mighty cedars with its branches.
11 Its branches reached as far as the Sea,[c]
    its shoots as far as the River.[d](AS)

12 Why have you broken down its walls(AT)
    so that all who pass by pick its grapes?
13 Boars from the forest ravage(AU) it,
    and insects from the fields feed on it.
14 Return to us, God Almighty!
    Look down from heaven and see!(AV)
Watch over this vine,
15     the root your right hand has planted,
    the son[e] you have raised up for yourself.

16 Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire;(AW)
    at your rebuke(AX) your people perish.
17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand,
    the son of man(AY) you have raised up for yourself.
18 Then we will not turn away from you;
    revive(AZ) us, and we will call on your name.

19 Restore us, Lord God Almighty;
    make your face shine on us,
    that we may be saved.

Psalm 81[f]

For the director of music. According to gittith.[g] Of Asaph.

Sing for joy to God our strength;
    shout aloud to the God of Jacob!(BA)
Begin the music, strike the timbrel,(BB)
    play the melodious harp(BC) and lyre.(BD)

Sound the ram’s horn(BE) at the New Moon,(BF)
    and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
this is a decree for Israel,
    an ordinance of the God of Jacob.(BG)
When God went out against Egypt,(BH)
    he established it as a statute for Joseph.

I heard an unknown voice say:(BI)

“I removed the burden(BJ) from their shoulders;(BK)
    their hands were set free from the basket.
In your distress you called(BL) and I rescued you,
    I answered(BM) you out of a thundercloud;
    I tested you at the waters of Meribah.[h](BN)
Hear me, my people,(BO) and I will warn you—
    if you would only listen to me, Israel!
You shall have no foreign god(BP) among you;
    you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
    who brought you up out of Egypt.(BQ)
Open(BR) wide your mouth and I will fill(BS) it.

11 “But my people would not listen to me;
    Israel would not submit to me.(BT)
12 So I gave them over(BU) to their stubborn hearts
    to follow their own devices.

13 “If my people would only listen to me,(BV)
    if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue(BW) their enemies
    and turn my hand against(BX) their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe(BY) before him,
    and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;(BZ)
    with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

Psalm 82

A psalm of Asaph.

God presides in the great assembly;
    he renders judgment(CA) among the “gods”:(CB)

“How long will you[i] defend the unjust
    and show partiality(CC) to the wicked?[j](CD)
Defend the weak and the fatherless;(CE)
    uphold the cause of the poor(CF) and the oppressed.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
    deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

“The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.(CG)
    They walk about in darkness;(CH)
    all the foundations(CI) of the earth are shaken.

“I said, ‘You are “gods”;(CJ)
    you are all sons of the Most High.’
But you will die(CK) like mere mortals;
    you will fall like every other ruler.”

Rise up,(CL) O God, judge(CM) the earth,
    for all the nations are your inheritance.(CN)

Psalm 83[k]

A song. A psalm of Asaph.

O God, do not remain silent;(CO)
    do not turn a deaf ear,
    do not stand aloof, O God.
See how your enemies growl,(CP)
    how your foes rear their heads.(CQ)
With cunning they conspire(CR) against your people;
    they plot against those you cherish.(CS)
“Come,” they say, “let us destroy(CT) them as a nation,(CU)
    so that Israel’s name is remembered(CV) no more.”

With one mind they plot together;(CW)
    they form an alliance against you—
the tents of Edom(CX) and the Ishmaelites,
    of Moab(CY) and the Hagrites,(CZ)
Byblos,(DA) Ammon(DB) and Amalek,(DC)
    Philistia,(DD) with the people of Tyre.(DE)
Even Assyria(DF) has joined them
    to reinforce Lot’s descendants.[l](DG)

Do to them as you did to Midian,(DH)
    as you did to Sisera(DI) and Jabin(DJ) at the river Kishon,(DK)
10 who perished at Endor(DL)
    and became like dung(DM) on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,(DN)
    all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,(DO)
12 who said, “Let us take possession(DP)
    of the pasturelands of God.”

13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
    like chaff(DQ) before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
    or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,(DR)
15 so pursue them with your tempest(DS)
    and terrify them with your storm.(DT)
16 Cover their faces with shame,(DU) Lord,
    so that they will seek your name.

17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;(DV)
    may they perish in disgrace.(DW)
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord(DX)
    that you alone are the Most High(DY) over all the earth.(DZ)

Psalm 84[m]

For the director of music. According to gittith.[n] Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

How lovely is your dwelling place,(EA)
    Lord Almighty!
My soul yearns,(EB) even faints,
    for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
    for the living God.(EC)
Even the sparrow has found a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself,
    where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,(ED)
    Lord Almighty,(EE) my King(EF) and my God.(EG)
Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
    they are ever praising you.[o]

Blessed are those whose strength(EH) is in you,
    whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.(EI)
As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
    they make it a place of springs;(EJ)
    the autumn(EK) rains also cover it with pools.[p]
They go from strength to strength,(EL)
    till each appears(EM) before God in Zion.(EN)

Hear my prayer,(EO) Lord God Almighty;
    listen to me, God of Jacob.
Look on our shield,[q](EP) O God;
    look with favor on your anointed one.(EQ)

10 Better is one day in your courts
    than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper(ER) in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is a sun(ES) and shield;(ET)
    the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold(EU)
    from those whose walk is blameless.

12 Lord Almighty,
    blessed(EV) is the one who trusts in you.

Psalm 85[r]

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes(EW) of Jacob.
You forgave(EX) the iniquity(EY) of your people
    and covered all their sins.[s]
You set aside all your wrath(EZ)
    and turned from your fierce anger.(FA)

Restore(FB) us again, God our Savior,(FC)
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
Will you be angry with us forever?(FD)
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
Will you not revive(FE) us again,
    that your people may rejoice(FF) in you?
Show us your unfailing love,(FG) Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.(FH)

I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace(FI) to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.(FJ)
Surely his salvation(FK) is near those who fear him,
    that his glory(FL) may dwell in our land.

10 Love and faithfulness(FM) meet together;
    righteousness(FN) and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness(FO) looks down from heaven.
12 The Lord will indeed give what is good,(FP)
    and our land will yield(FQ) its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.

Psalm 86

A prayer of David.

Hear me, Lord, and answer(FR) me,
    for I am poor and needy.
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;
    save your servant who trusts in you.(FS)
You are my God; have mercy(FT) on me, Lord,
    for I call(FU) to you all day long.
Bring joy to your servant, Lord,
    for I put my trust(FV) in you.

You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
    abounding in love(FW) to all who call to you.
Hear my prayer, Lord;
    listen to my cry(FX) for mercy.
When I am in distress,(FY) I call(FZ) to you,
    because you answer(GA) me.

Among the gods(GB) there is none like you,(GC) Lord;
    no deeds can compare with yours.
All the nations you have made
    will come(GD) and worship(GE) before you, Lord;
    they will bring glory(GF) to your name.
10 For you are great(GG) and do marvelous deeds;(GH)
    you alone(GI) are God.

11 Teach me your way,(GJ) Lord,
    that I may rely on your faithfulness;(GK)
give me an undivided(GL) heart,
    that I may fear(GM) your name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;(GN)
    I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your love toward me;
    you have delivered me(GO) from the depths,
    from the realm of the dead.(GP)

14 Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God;
    ruthless people are trying to kill me—
    they have no regard for you.(GQ)
15 But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious(GR) God,
    slow to anger,(GS) abounding(GT) in love and faithfulness.(GU)
16 Turn to me(GV) and have mercy(GW) on me;
    show your strength(GX) in behalf of your servant;
save me, because I serve you
    just as my mother did.(GY)
17 Give me a sign(GZ) of your goodness,
    that my enemies may see it and be put to shame,
    for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

Psalm 87

Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. A song.

He has founded his city on the holy mountain.(HA)
The Lord loves the gates of Zion(HB)
    more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.

Glorious things are said of you,
    city of God:[t](HC)
“I will record Rahab[u](HD) and Babylon
    among those who acknowledge me—
Philistia(HE) too, and Tyre(HF), along with Cush[v]
    and will say, ‘This one was born in Zion.’”[w](HG)
Indeed, of Zion it will be said,
    “This one and that one were born in her,
    and the Most High himself will establish her.”
The Lord will write in the register(HH) of the peoples:
    “This one was born in Zion.”

As they make music(HI) they will sing,
    “All my fountains(HJ) are in you.”

Psalm 88[x]

A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah. For the director of music. According to mahalath leannoth.[y] A maskil[z] of Heman the Ezrahite.

Lord, you are the God who saves me;(HK)
    day and night I cry out(HL) to you.
May my prayer come before you;
    turn your ear to my cry.

I am overwhelmed with troubles(HM)
    and my life draws near to death.(HN)
I am counted among those who go down to the pit;(HO)
    I am like one without strength.(HP)
I am set apart with the dead,
    like the slain who lie in the grave,
whom you remember no more,
    who are cut off(HQ) from your care.

You have put me in the lowest pit,
    in the darkest depths.(HR)
Your wrath(HS) lies heavily on me;
    you have overwhelmed me with all your waves.[aa](HT)
You have taken from me my closest friends(HU)
    and have made me repulsive to them.
I am confined(HV) and cannot escape;(HW)
    my eyes(HX) are dim with grief.

I call(HY) to you, Lord, every day;
    I spread out my hands(HZ) to you.
10 Do you show your wonders to the dead?
    Do their spirits rise up and praise you?(IA)
11 Is your love declared in the grave,
    your faithfulness(IB) in Destruction[ab]?
12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness,
    or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?

13 But I cry to you for help,(IC) Lord;
    in the morning(ID) my prayer comes before you.(IE)
14 Why, Lord, do you reject(IF) me
    and hide your face(IG) from me?

15 From my youth(IH) I have suffered(II) and been close to death;
    I have borne your terrors(IJ) and am in despair.(IK)
16 Your wrath(IL) has swept over me;
    your terrors(IM) have destroyed me.
17 All day long they surround me like a flood;(IN)
    they have completely engulfed me.
18 You have taken from me friend(IO) and neighbor—
    darkness is my closest friend.

Psalm 89[ac]

A maskil[ad] of Ethan the Ezrahite.

I will sing(IP) of the Lord’s great love forever;
    with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known(IQ)
    through all generations.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
    that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.(IR)
You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
    I have sworn to David my servant,
‘I will establish your line forever
    and make your throne firm through all generations.’”[ae](IS)

The heavens(IT) praise your wonders, Lord,
    your faithfulness too, in the assembly(IU) of the holy ones.
For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
    Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?(IV)
In the council(IW) of the holy ones(IX) God is greatly feared;
    he is more awesome than all who surround him.(IY)
Who is like you,(IZ) Lord God Almighty?(JA)
    You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

You rule over the surging sea;
    when its waves mount up, you still them.(JB)
10 You crushed Rahab(JC) like one of the slain;
    with your strong arm you scattered(JD) your enemies.
11 The heavens are yours,(JE) and yours also the earth;(JF)
    you founded the world and all that is in it.(JG)
12 You created the north and the south;
    Tabor(JH) and Hermon(JI) sing for joy(JJ) at your name.
13 Your arm is endowed with power;
    your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.(JK)

14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;(JL)
    love and faithfulness go before you.(JM)
15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
    who walk(JN) in the light(JO) of your presence, Lord.
16 They rejoice in your name(JP) all day long;
    they celebrate your righteousness.
17 For you are their glory and strength,(JQ)
    and by your favor you exalt our horn.[af](JR)
18 Indeed, our shield[ag](JS) belongs to the Lord,
    our king(JT) to the Holy One of Israel.

19 Once you spoke in a vision,
    to your faithful people you said:
“I have bestowed strength on a warrior;
    I have raised up a young man from among the people.
20 I have found David(JU) my servant;(JV)
    with my sacred oil(JW) I have anointed(JX) him.
21 My hand will sustain him;
    surely my arm will strengthen him.(JY)
22 The enemy will not get the better of him;(JZ)
    the wicked will not oppress(KA) him.
23 I will crush his foes before him(KB)
    and strike down his adversaries.(KC)
24 My faithful love will be with him,(KD)
    and through my name his horn[ah] will be exalted.
25 I will set his hand over the sea,
    his right hand over the rivers.(KE)
26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father,(KF)
    my God, the Rock(KG) my Savior.’(KH)
27 And I will appoint him to be my firstborn,(KI)
    the most exalted(KJ) of the kings(KK) of the earth.
28 I will maintain my love to him forever,
    and my covenant with him will never fail.(KL)
29 I will establish his line forever,
    his throne as long as the heavens endure.(KM)

30 “If his sons forsake my law
    and do not follow my statutes,
31 if they violate my decrees
    and fail to keep my commands,
32 I will punish their sin with the rod,
    their iniquity with flogging;(KN)
33 but I will not take my love from him,(KO)
    nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
34 I will not violate my covenant
    or alter what my lips have uttered.(KP)
35 Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness—
    and I will not lie to David—
36 that his line will continue forever
    and his throne endure before me like the sun;(KQ)
37 it will be established forever like the moon,
    the faithful witness in the sky.”(KR)

38 But you have rejected,(KS) you have spurned,
    you have been very angry with your anointed one.
39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant
    and have defiled his crown in the dust.(KT)
40 You have broken through all his walls(KU)
    and reduced his strongholds(KV) to ruins.
41 All who pass by have plundered(KW) him;
    he has become the scorn of his neighbors.(KX)
42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes;
    you have made all his enemies rejoice.(KY)
43 Indeed, you have turned back the edge of his sword
    and have not supported him in battle.(KZ)
44 You have put an end to his splendor
    and cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have cut short(LA) the days of his youth;
    you have covered him with a mantle of shame.(LB)

46 How long, Lord? Will you hide yourself forever?
    How long will your wrath burn like fire?(LC)
47 Remember how fleeting is my life.(LD)
    For what futility you have created all humanity!
48 Who can live and not see death,
    or who can escape the power of the grave?(LE)
49 Lord, where is your former great love,
    which in your faithfulness you swore to David?
50 Remember, Lord, how your servant has[ai] been mocked,(LF)
    how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,
51 the taunts with which your enemies, Lord, have mocked,
    with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.(LG)

52 Praise be to the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen.(LH)

BOOK IV

Psalms 90–106

Psalm 90

A prayer of Moses the man of God.

Lord, you have been our dwelling place(LI)
    throughout all generations.
Before the mountains were born(LJ)
    or you brought forth the whole world,
    from everlasting to everlasting(LK) you are God.(LL)

You turn people back to dust,
    saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”(LM)
A thousand years in your sight
    are like a day that has just gone by,
    or like a watch in the night.(LN)
Yet you sweep people away(LO) in the sleep of death—
    they are like the new grass of the morning:
In the morning it springs up new,
    but by evening it is dry and withered.(LP)

We are consumed by your anger
    and terrified by your indignation.
You have set our iniquities before you,
    our secret sins(LQ) in the light of your presence.(LR)
All our days pass away under your wrath;
    we finish our years with a moan.(LS)
10 Our days may come to seventy years,(LT)
    or eighty,(LU) if our strength endures;
yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow,(LV)
    for they quickly pass, and we fly away.(LW)
11 If only we knew the power of your anger!
    Your wrath(LX) is as great as the fear that is your due.(LY)
12 Teach us to number our days,(LZ)
    that we may gain a heart of wisdom.(MA)

13 Relent, Lord! How long(MB) will it be?
    Have compassion on your servants.(MC)
14 Satisfy(MD) us in the morning with your unfailing love,(ME)
    that we may sing for joy(MF) and be glad all our days.(MG)
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    for as many years as we have seen trouble.
16 May your deeds be shown to your servants,
    your splendor to their children.(MH)

17 May the favor[aj] of the Lord our God rest on us;
    establish the work of our hands for us—
    yes, establish the work of our hands.(MI)

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter(MJ) of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow(MK) of the Almighty.[ak]
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge(ML) and my fortress,(MM)
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare(MN)
    and from the deadly pestilence.(MO)
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;(MP)
    his faithfulness will be your shield(MQ) and rampart.
You will not fear(MR) the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.(MS)

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm(MT) will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels(MU) concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;(MV)
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.(MW)
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.(MX)

14 “Because he[al] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.(MY)
16 With long life(MZ) I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.(NA)

Psalm 92[am]

A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.

It is good to praise the Lord
    and make music(NB) to your name,(NC) O Most High,(ND)
proclaiming your love in the morning(NE)
    and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the ten-stringed lyre(NF)
    and the melody of the harp.(NG)

For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
    I sing for joy(NH) at what your hands have done.(NI)
How great are your works,(NJ) Lord,
    how profound your thoughts!(NK)
Senseless people(NL) do not know,
    fools do not understand,
that though the wicked spring up like grass
    and all evildoers flourish,
    they will be destroyed forever.(NM)

But you, Lord, are forever exalted.

For surely your enemies(NN), Lord,
    surely your enemies will perish;
    all evildoers will be scattered.(NO)
10 You have exalted my horn[an](NP) like that of a wild ox;(NQ)
    fine oils(NR) have been poured on me.
11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
    my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.(NS)

12 The righteous will flourish(NT) like a palm tree,
    they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;(NU)
13 planted in the house of the Lord,
    they will flourish in the courts of our God.(NV)
14 They will still bear fruit(NW) in old age,
    they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
    he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.(NX)
