Proverbs 4
BRG Bible
4 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
3 For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14 ¶ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
20 ¶ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23 ¶ Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Hãy Vâng Lời Cha Mẹ
4 Hỡi các con, hãy nghe lời giáo huấn của người cha;
Và hãy chú ý để các con biết được sự sáng suốt.
2 Vì ta ban cho các con một đạo lý tốt lành;
Đừng từ bỏ lời dạy dỗ của ta.
3 Khi thơ ấu ta là con của cha ta,
Và là con một[a] của mẹ ta.
4 Người dạy bảo ta rằng:
Hãy ghi nhớ các lời ta trong lòng;
5 Hãy thu nhận sự khôn ngoan, hãy thu nhận sự sáng suốt;
Chớ quên, cũng đừng từ bỏ lời phán của ta.[b]
6 Đừng từ bỏ sự khôn ngoan[c] thì nó sẽ gìn giữ con;
Hãy yêu mến sự khôn ngoan thì nó sẽ bảo vệ con.
7 Sự khôn ngoan là điều tiên quyết,[d] hãy thu nhận sự khôn ngoan;
8 Hãy đánh giá cao sự khôn ngoan thì nó sẽ tôn con lên cao;
13 Hãy nắm chặt lấy lời giáo huấn, chớ buông ra;
15 Hãy tránh con đường ấy; đừng đi trên đó;
18 Nhưng con đường của người công chính như ánh sáng bình minh;
19 Còn con đường của kẻ ác giống như tăm tối;
Chúng nó không biết vật gì làm mình vấp ngã.
20 Hỡi con ta, hãy chú ý đến các lời ta;
Hãy lắng tai nghe những lời ta nói.
21 Mắt con chớ lìa xa các lời ấy;
24 Hãy từ bỏ miệng gian tà;
Hãy lìa xa môi xảo quyệt.
25 Mắt con hãy nhìn thẳng trước mặt;
27 Chớ quay sang bên phải hay bên trái;
Chân con hãy tránh điều ác.

A Father’s Advice About Wisdom
4 Children, listen to your father’s teaching. Pay attention and you will learn how to learn. 2 The advice I give is good, so don’t ever forget what I teach you.
3 When I was my father’s little boy and my mother’s dear son,[a] 4 my father taught me this: “Pay attention to what I say. Obey my commands and you will have a good life. 5 Try to get wisdom and understanding. Don’t forget my teaching or ignore what I say. 6 Don’t turn away from wisdom, and she will protect you. Love her, and she will keep you safe.
7 “The first step to becoming wise is to look for wisdom, so use everything you have to get understanding. 8 Love wisdom, and she will make you great. Hold on to wisdom, and she will bring you honor. 9 Wisdom will reward you with a crown of honor and glory.”
10 Son, listen to me. Do what I say, and you will live a long time. 11 I am teaching you about wisdom and guiding you on the right path. 12 As you walk on it, you will not step into a trap. Even if you run, you will not trip and fall. 13 Always remember this teaching. Don’t forget it. It is the key to life, so guard it well.
14 Don’t take the path of the wicked; don’t follow those who do evil. 15 Stay away from that path; don’t even go near it. Turn around and go another way. 16 The wicked cannot sleep until they have done something evil. They will not rest until they bring someone down. 17 Evil and violence are their food and drink.
18 The path of those who live right is like the early morning light. It gets brighter and brighter until the full light of day. 19 But the path of the wicked is like a dark night. They trip and fall over what they cannot see.
20 My son, pay attention to what I say. Listen closely to my words. 21 Don’t let them out of your sight. Never stop thinking about them. 22 These words are the secret of life and health to all who discover them. 23 Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life.
24 Don’t bend the truth or say things that you know are not right. 25 Keep your eyes on the path, and look straight ahead. 26 Make sure you are going the right way, and nothing will make you fall. 27 Don’t go to the right or to the left, and you will stay away from evil.
