Offerings at the Dedication of the Tabernacle

When Moses finished setting up the tabernacle,(A) he anointed(B) and consecrated it and all its furnishings.(C) He also anointed and consecrated the altar and all its utensils.(D) Then the leaders of Israel,(E) the heads of families who were the tribal leaders in charge of those who were counted,(F) made offerings. They brought as their gifts before the Lord six covered carts(G) and twelve oxen—an ox from each leader and a cart from every two. These they presented before the tabernacle.

The Lord said to Moses, “Accept these from them, that they may be used in the work at the tent of meeting. Give them to the Levites as each man’s work requires.”

So Moses took the carts and oxen and gave them to the Levites. He gave two carts and four oxen to the Gershonites,(H) as their work required, and he gave four carts and eight oxen to the Merarites,(I) as their work required. They were all under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron, the priest. But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites,(J) because they were to carry on their shoulders(K) the holy things, for which they were responsible.

10 When the altar was anointed,(L) the leaders brought their offerings for its dedication(M) and presented them before the altar. 11 For the Lord had said to Moses, “Each day one leader is to bring his offering for the dedication of the altar.”

10 “Shout(A) and be glad, Daughter Zion.(B) For I am coming,(C) and I will live among you,”(D) declares the Lord.(E) 11 “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people.(F) I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.(G) 12 The Lord will inherit(H) Judah(I) as his portion in the holy land and will again choose(J) Jerusalem. 13 Be still(K) before the Lord, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.(L)

Clean Garments for the High Priest

Then he showed me Joshua(M) the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan[a](N) standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you,(O) Satan! The Lord, who has chosen(P) Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick(Q) snatched from the fire?”(R)

Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”

Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin,(S) and I will put fine garments(T) on you.”

Then I said, “Put a clean turban(U) on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.

The angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements,(V) then you will govern my house(W) and have charge(X) of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.(Y)

“‘Listen, High Priest(Z) Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic(AA) of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.(AB) See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua!(AC) There are seven eyes[b](AD) on that one stone,(AE) and I will engrave an inscription on it,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will remove the sin(AF) of this land in a single day.

10 “‘In that day each of you will invite your neighbor to sit(AG) under your vine and fig tree,(AH)’ declares the Lord Almighty.”

The Gold Lampstand and the Two Olive Trees

Then the angel who talked with me returned and woke(AI) me up, like someone awakened from sleep.(AJ) He asked me, “What do you see?”(AK)

I answered, “I see a solid gold lampstand(AL) with a bowl at the top and seven lamps(AM) on it, with seven channels to the lamps. Also there are two olive trees(AN) by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left.”

I asked the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?”

He answered, “Do you not know what these are?”

“No, my lord,” I replied.(AO)

So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:(AP) ‘Not(AQ) by might nor by power,(AR) but by my Spirit,’(AS) says the Lord Almighty.

“What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground.(AT) Then he will bring out the capstone(AU) to shouts(AV) of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’”
