The Voice
16 These are the tribal leaders and representatives of the extended families, chosen by the community. They are the heads of the clans that compose Israel.
17 Moses and Aaron gathered these chosen leaders by name; 18 and on the first day of the second month, they brought the whole community together to register by their clans and extended families and to specify individuals who were 20 years old and older.

16 These were the men appointed from the community, the leaders(A) of their ancestral tribes.(B) They were the heads of the clans of Israel.(C)
17 Moses and Aaron took these men whose names had been specified, 18 and they called the whole community together on the first day of the second month.(D) The people registered their ancestry(E) by their clans and families,(F) and the men twenty years old or more(G) were listed by name, one by one,
