⁴ But he answered, ^(A)“It is written,

⁷ Jesus said to him, “Again ^(A)it is written, ^(B)‘You shall not ^(C)put the Lord your God to the test.’”

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, ^(A)Satan! For ^(B)it is written,

¹⁶ In all circumstances take up ^(A)the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all ^(B)the flaming darts of ^(C)the evil one; ¹⁷ and take ^(D)the helmet of salvation, and ^(E)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

¹¹ Now these things happened to them as an example, but ^(A)they were written down for our instruction, ^(B)on whom the end of the ages has come.
