Temptation of Jesus
4 Then the Spirit led Jesus up into the wilderness so that the devil might tempt him. 2 After Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights, he was starving. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “Since you are God’s Son, command these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus replied, “It’s written, People won’t live only by bread, but by every word spoken by God.”[a]
5 After that the devil brought him into the holy city and stood him at the highest point of the temple. He said to him, 6 “Since you are God’s Son, throw yourself down; for it is written, I will command my angels concerning you, and they will take you up in their hands so that you won’t hit your foot on a stone.”[b]
7 Jesus replied, “Again it’s written, Don’t test the Lord your God.”[c]
8 Then the devil brought him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 He said, “I’ll give you all these if you bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus responded, “Go away, Satan, because it’s written,You will worship the Lord your God and serve only him.”[d] 11 The devil left him, and angels came and took care of him.
Move to Galilee
12 Now when Jesus heard that John was arrested, he went to Galilee. 13 He left Nazareth and settled in Capernaum, which lies alongside the sea in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This fulfilled what Isaiah the prophet said:
15 Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
alongside the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 the people who lived in the dark have seen a great light,
and a light has come upon those who lived in the region and in shadow of death.[e]
17 From that time Jesus began to announce, “Change your hearts and lives! Here comes the kingdom of heaven!”
Calling of the first disciples
18 As Jesus walked alongside the Galilee Sea, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, throwing fishing nets into the sea, because they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” he said, “and I’ll show you how to fish for people.” 20 Right away, they left their nets and followed him. 21 Continuing on, he saw another set of brothers, James the son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with Zebedee their father repairing their nets. Jesus called them and 22 immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Ministry to the crowds
23 Jesus traveled throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues. He announced the good news of the kingdom and healed every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread throughout Syria. People brought to him all those who had various kinds of diseases, those in pain, those possessed by demons, those with epilepsy, and those who were paralyzed, and he healed them. 25 Large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from the areas beyond the Jordan River.

4 Yna yr Iesu a arweiniwyd i fyny i’r anialwch gan yr Ysbryd, i’w demtio gan ddiafol. 2 Ac wedi iddo ymprydio ddeugain niwrnod a deugain nos, ar ôl hynny efe a newynodd. 3 A’r temtiwr pan ddaeth ato, a ddywedodd, Os mab Duw wyt ti, arch i’r cerrig hyn fod yn fara. 4 Ac yntau a atebodd ac a ddywedodd, Ysgrifennwyd, Nid trwy fara yn unig y bydd byw dyn, ond trwy bob gair a ddaw allan o enau Duw. 5 Yna y cymerth diafol ef i’r ddinas sanctaidd, ac a’i gosododd ef ar binacl y deml; 6 Ac a ddywedodd wrtho, Os mab Duw wyt ti, bwrw dy hun i lawr; canys ysgrifennwyd, Y rhydd efe orchymyn i’w angylion amdanat; a hwy a’th ddygant yn eu dwylo, rhag taro ohonot un amser dy droed wrth garreg. 7 Yr Iesu a ddywedodd wrtho, Ysgrifennwyd drachefn, Na themtia yr Arglwydd dy Dduw. 8 Trachefn y cymerth diafol ef i fynydd tra uchel, ac a ddangosodd iddo holl deyrnasoedd y byd, a’u gogoniant; 9 Ac a ddywedodd wrtho, Hyn oll a roddaf i ti, os syrthi i lawr a’m haddoli i. 10 Yna yr Iesu a ddywedodd wrtho, Ymaith, Satan; canys ysgrifennwyd, Yr Arglwydd dy Dduw a addoli, ac ef yn unig a wasanaethi. 11 Yna y gadawodd diafol ef: ac wele, angylion a ddaethant, ac a weiniasant iddo.
12 A phan glybu’r Iesu draddodi Ioan, efe a aeth i Galilea. 13 A chan ado Nasareth, efe a aeth ac a arhosodd yng Nghapernaum, yr hon sydd wrth y môr, yng nghyffiniau Sabulon a Neffthali: 14 Fel y cyflawnid yr hyn a ddywedwyd trwy Eseias y proffwyd, gan ddywedyd, 15 Tir Sabulon, a thir Neffthali, wrth ffordd y môr, tu hwnt i’r Iorddonen, Galilea’r Cenhedloedd: 16 Y bobl oedd yn eistedd mewn tywyllwch, a welodd oleuni mawr; ac i’r rhai a eisteddent ym mro a chysgod angau, y cyfododd goleuni iddynt.
17 O’r pryd hwnnw y dechreuodd yr Iesu bregethu, a dywedyd, Edifarhewch: canys nesaodd teyrnas nefoedd.
18 A’r Iesu yn rhodio wrth fôr Galilea, efe a ganfu ddau frodyr, Simon, yr hwn a elwir Pedr, ac Andreas ei frawd, yn bwrw rhwyd i’r môr; canys pysgodwyr oeddynt: 19 Ac efe a ddywedodd wrthynt, Deuwch ar fy ôl i, a mi a’ch gwnaf yn bysgodwyr dynion. 20 A hwy yn y fan, gan adael y rhwydau, a’i canlynasant ef. 21 Ac wedi myned rhagddo oddi yno, efe a welodd ddau frodyr eraill, Iago fab Sebedeus, ac Ioan ei frawd, mewn llong gyda Sebedeus eu tad, yn cyweirio eu rhwydau; ac a’u galwodd hwy. 22 Hwythau yn ebrwydd, gan adael y llong a’u tad, a’i canlynasant ef.
23 A’r Iesu a aeth o amgylch holl Galilea, gan ddysgu yn eu synagogau, a phregethu efengyl y deyrnas, ac iacháu pob clefyd a phob afiechyd ymhlith y bobl. 24 Ac aeth sôn amdano ef trwy holl Syria; a hwy a ddygasant ato yr holl rai drwg eu hwyl, a’r rhai yr oedd amryw glefydau a chnofeydd yn eu dala, a’r rhai cythreulig, a’r rhai lloerig, a’r sawl oedd â’r parlys arnynt; ac efe a’u hiachaodd hwynt. 25 A thorfeydd lawer a’i canlynasant ef o Galilea, a Decapolis, a Jerwsalem, a Jwdea, ac o’r tu hwnt i’r Iorddonen.

4 Pagkatapos, dinala ng Espiritu si Jesus sa ilang upang tuksuhin ng diyablo. 2 Pagkatapos mag-ayuno ng apatnapung araw at apatnapung gabi, siya ay nagutom. 3 Dumating ang manunukso at sinabi sa kanya, “Kung ikaw nga ang Anak ng Diyos, ipag-utos mong maging tinapay ang mga batong ito.” 4 Ngunit sumagot si Jesus,
“Nasusulat,
‘Hindi lamang sa tinapay nabubuhay ang tao,
kundi sa bawat salitang nagmumula sa bibig ng Diyos.’ ”
5 Kasunod nito'y dinala siya ng diyablo sa banal na lungsod at inilagay siya sa tuktok ng templo. 6 Sinabi nito sa kanya, “Kung ikaw nga ang Anak ng Diyos, tumalon ka mula riyan, sapagkat nasusulat,
‘Uutusan niya ang kanyang mga anghel na ingatan ka,’
at ‘Mga kamay nila sa iyo ay sasalo,
upang ang paa mo'y hindi masaktan sa bato.’ ”
7 Sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Nasusulat din naman, ‘Huwag mong susubukin ang Panginoon mong Diyos.’ ” 8 Muli, dinala siya ng diyablo sa isang napakataas na bundok at ipinakita sa kanya ang lahat ng mga kaharian sa sanlibutan at ang dangal ng mga ito. 9 Sinabi nito sa kanya, “Ibibigay ko sa iyo ang lahat ng mga ito, kung yuyukod ka at sasamba sa akin.” 10 Sumagot sa kanya si Jesus, “Layas, Satanas! Sapagkat nasusulat,
‘Ang Panginoong Diyos ang iyong sasambahin
at siya lamang ang iyong paglilingkuran.’ ”
11 At iniwan siya ng diyablo. Dumating naman ang mga anghel at siya'y pinaglingkuran.
Sinimulan ni Jesus ang Kanyang Gawain sa Galilea(B)
12 Nabalitaan ni Jesus na si Juan ay dinakip kaya't pumunta siya sa Galilea. 13 Nilisan niya ang Nazareth at siya'y nanirahan sa Capernaum na nasa tabing-dagat, sa nasasakupan ng Zebulun at Neftali, 14 upang matupad ang salita ng Diyos sa pamamagitan ni Propeta Isaias:
15 “Ang lupain ng Zebulun at ang lupain ng Neftali—
daang patungo sa dagat, sa ibayo ng Jordan, Galilea ng mga Hentil—
16 Ang bayang itong nasasadlak sa kadiliman
ay nakakita ng malaking tanglaw,
Sa kanilang nakaupo sa lilim ng kamatayan
ay may liwanag na sumilang.”
17 Mula noon ay nagsimulang mangaral ng ganito si Jesus, “Magsisi kayo, sapagkat malapit nang dumating ang kaharian ng langit.”
Tinawag ni Jesus ang mga Unang Alagad(C)
18 Habang naglalakad sa baybayin ng lawa ng Galilea, nakita ni Jesus ang magkapatid na si Simon (na binansagang Pedro) at si Andres, na naghuhulog ng lambat sa dagat, sapagkat sila ay mga mangingisda. 19 At sinabi niya sa kanila, “Sumunod kayo sa akin at gagawin ko kayong mangingisda ng mga tao.” 20 Kaagad nilang iniwan ang kanilang mga lambat at sumunod sa kanya. 21 Sa paglalakad pa niya ay nakita niya ang magkapatid na Santiago at Juan, mga anak ni Zebedeo. Nasa bangka silang kasama ang kanilang ama at nag-aayos ng mga lambat. Tinawag niya ang magkapatid. 22 Agad nilang iniwan ang bangka pati ang kanilang ama, at sumunod sa kanya.

23 Nilibot ni Jesus ang buong Galilea sa pagtuturo sa mga sinagoga ng mga Judio at pagpapahayag ng Magandang Balita ng kaharian. Pinagagaling niya ang lahat ng uri ng sakit at karamdaman ng mga tao. 24 Kaya't kumalat ang balita tungkol sa kanya sa buong Syria. Dinala sa kanya ang lahat ng maysakit, ang mga pinahihirapan ng iba't ibang uri ng sakit at kirot, ang mga sinasaniban ng mga demonyo, ang mga may epilepsiya, at ang mga paralitiko. Silang lahat ay kanyang pinagaling. 25 At sumunod sa kanya ang napakaraming tao mula sa Galilea at sa Decapolis, mula sa Jerusalem at Judea, at mula sa ibayo ng Jordan.
