⁷ And they began discussing it among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”

¹⁴ But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; ^(A)for I have never eaten anything that is ^(B)common or ^(C)unclean.”

Who Is the Greatest?

^46 (A)An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest.

^10 (A)So they kept the matter to themselves, ^(B)questioning what this rising from the dead might mean.

¹⁶ And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread. ¹⁷ And ^(A)Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? ^(B)Do you not yet perceive ^(C)or understand? ^(D)Are your hearts hardened? ^18 (E)Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?

¹⁶ And he said, ^(A)“Are you also still without understanding? ¹⁷ Do you not see that ^(B)whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled?^{[a] 18} But ^(C)what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.
