13 Тогава пращат при Него някои от фарисеите и иродианите за да Го впримчат в говоренето Му.

14 И те, като дойдоха казаха Му: Учителю, знаем, че си искрен и не Те е грижа от никого; защото не гледаш на лицето на човеците, но учиш Божия път според истината. Право ли е да даваме данък на Кесаря, или не?

15 Да даваме ли, или да не даваме? А Той, като разбра лицемерието им, рече им: Защо Ме изпитвате? Донесете Ми един пеняз да го видя.

16 И те Му донесоха. Тогава им казва: Чий е тоя образ и надпис? А те му рекоха: Кесарев.

17 Исус им рече: Отдавайте Кесаревото на Кесаря, и Божието на Бога. И те много се зачудиха на Него.

Право ли е да се дава данък на кесаря, или не? Да даваме ли, или да не даваме?“ 15 А Той, като знаеше тяхното лицемерие, каза им: „Защо Ме изкушавате? Донесете Ми един динарий да го видя.“ 16 Те донесоха. Тогава Той им каза: „Чии са този образ и надпис?“ Те Му отговориха: „На кесаря.“ 17 (C)Иисус им каза: „Като е така, отдайте кесаревото кесарю, а Божието Богу.“ Тогава те се учудиха на чутото от Него.

Paying Taxes to Caesar

13 And they sent some of the Pharisees and the Herodians to him so that they could catch him unawares in a statement. 14 And when they[a] came, they said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are truthful and you do not care what anyone thinks,[b] because you do not regard the opinion of people[c] but teach the way of God in truth. Is it permitted to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or should we not pay?” 15 But because he[d] knew their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius so that I can look at it!”[e] 16 So they brought one.[f] And he said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” And they said to him, “Caesar’s.” 17 And Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God!” And they were utterly amazed at him.

Paying the Imperial Tax to Caesar(A)

13 Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians(B) to Jesus to catch him(C) in his words. 14 They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax[a] to Caesar or not? 15 Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”

But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” 16 They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”

“Caesar’s,” they replied.

17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”(D)

And they were amazed at him.
