9 And he said to them, Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste of death till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
The transfiguration. The frenzied boy is healed. Who should be the greatest. Offences are forbidden.
2 And after six days, Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up into a high mountain out of the way alone. And he was transfigured before them. 3 And his raiment did shine, and was made very white, even as snow: such a white as no fuller can make upon the earth. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they talked with Jesus.
5 And Peter spoke and said to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three tabernacles: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. 6 And yet he did not know what he was saying, for they were afraid. 7 And there was a cloud that covered them. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my dear Son; hear him! 8 And suddenly, when they looked round about them, they saw no one but Jesus with them.
9 And as they came down from the hill, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen until the Son of man was risen from death again. 10 And they kept that saying with them, and wondered amongst themselves what rising from death again might mean. 11 And they asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first? 12 He answered and said to them, Indeed, Elijah does first come, and restore all things. And also the Son of man, as it is written, will suffer many things, and will be rejected. 13 Moreover I say to you that Elijah has come, and they have done to him whatsoever pleased them, as it is written of him.
14 And he came to his disciples and saw crowds of people about them, and the scribes disputing with them. 15 And straightaway all the people, when they saw Jesus, were moved with wonder, and ran to him and greeted him. 16 And he said to the scribes, What are you disputing with them? 17 A man from the crowd answered and said, Teacher, I have brought my son to you, who has a dumb spirit, 18 and whenever it takes him, it tears him, and he foams and gnashes with his teeth, and collapses. And I spoke to your disciples, to cast it out, but they could not.
19 Jesus answered him and said, O generation without faith, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him to me. 20 And they brought the boy to him. And as soon as the spirit saw him, it tore the boy, and he fell down on the ground, wallowing and foaming. 21 And Jesus asked his father, How long has this been happening to him? And he said, Since childhood. 22 And often it casts him into the fire, and also into the water, to kill him. But if you can do anything, have mercy on us and help us! 23 And Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. 24 And straightaway the father of the child exclaimed with tears, saying, Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running to gather to him, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying to him, Deaf and dumb spirit, I charge you to come out of him, and enter no more into him! 26 And the spirit cried out, and rent him badly, and came out. And the boy was as one dead, insomuch that many said, He is dead. 27 But Jesus caught his hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
28 And when Jesus had entered into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could we not cast him out? 29 And he said to them, This kind can come out no other way but by prayer and fasting.
30 And they left that place, and took their journey through Galilee. But Jesus did not want anyone to know of it, 31 because he was teaching his disciples. And he said to them, The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And after he has been killed, he will arise again on the third day. 32 But they did not comprehend what that saying meant, and were afraid to ask him.
33 And they came to Capernaum. And once he was indoors, he asked them, What was it that you were disputing between yourselves along the way? 34 And they held their peace, for on the road they had been debating among themselves who should be chief. 35 And he sat down and called the twelve to him and said to them, If any man desires to be first, let him be last of all, and servant to all. 36 And he took a child and set him in the midst of them, and took him in his arms and said to them, 37 Whosoever receives any such a child in my name, receives me. And whosoever receives me, receives not me, but him who sent me.
38 John answered him, saying, Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out devils in your name, and we told him not to because he does not follow us. 39 But Jesus said, Do not forbid him. For no one who does a miracle in my name can lightly speak evil of me. 40 Whosoever is not against you, is on your side.
41 And whosoever gives you a cup of water to drink for my name’s sake, because you belong to Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward. 42 But whoever hurts one of these little ones that believe in me, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea. 43 Therefore if your hand causes you to offend, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed than, having two hands, to go into hell, into fire that never shall be quenched, 44 where their worm dies not and the fire never goes out. 45 Likewise, if your foot causes you to offend, cut it off. For it is better for you to go lame into life than, having two feet, to be cast into hell, into fire that never shall be quenched, 46 where their worm dies not and the fire never goes out. 47 So also if your eye causes you to offend, tear it out. It is better for you to go into the kingdom of God with one eye than, having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire, 48 where their worm dies not and the fire never goes out.
49 Every man therefore must be salted with fire. And every sacrifice must be seasoned with salt. 50 Salt is good. But if the salt is unsavoury, what can you salt with it? See that you have salt in yourselves. And have peace among yourselves, one with another.

在信的人凡事都能
23 耶稣对他说：“你若能信，在信的人，凡事都能。” 24 孩子的父亲立时喊着说[b]：“我信！但我信不足，求主帮助！” 25 耶稣看见众人都跑上来，就斥责那污鬼，说：“你这聋哑的鬼，我吩咐你从他里头出来，再不要进去！” 26 那鬼喊叫，使孩子大大地抽了一阵风，就出来了。孩子好像死了一般，以致众人多半说：“他是死了。” 27 但耶稣拉着他的手，扶他起来，他就站起来了。 28 耶稣进了屋子，门徒就暗暗地问他说：“我们为什么不能赶出他去呢？” 29 耶稣说：“非用祷告[c]，这一类的鬼总不能出来[d]。”
预言受难
30 他们离开那地方，经过加利利，耶稣不愿意人知道。 31 于是教训门徒，说：“人子将要被交在人手里，他们要杀害他，被杀以后过三天他要复活。” 32 门徒却不明白这话，又不敢问他。
争论谁为大
33 他们来到迦百农，耶稣在屋里问门徒说：“你们在路上议论的是什么？” 34 门徒不作声，因为他们在路上彼此争论谁为大。 35 耶稣坐下，叫十二个门徒来，说：“若有人愿意做首先的，他必做众人末后的，做众人的用人。” 36 于是领过一个小孩子来，叫他站在门徒中间，又抱起他来，对他们说： 37 “凡为我名接待一个像这小孩子的，就是接待我；凡接待我的，不是接待我，乃是接待那差我来的。”
奉主名的不易谤主
38 约翰对耶稣说：“夫子，我们看见一个人奉你的名赶鬼，我们就禁止他，因为他不跟从我们。” 39 耶稣说：“不要禁止他，因为没有人奉我名行异能，反倒轻易毁谤我。 40 不敌挡我们的，就是帮助我们的。 41 凡因你们是属基督，给你们一杯水喝的，我实在告诉你们：他不能不得赏赐。 42 凡使这信我的一个小子跌倒的，倒不如把大磨石拴在这人的颈项上，扔在海里。 43 倘若你一只手叫你跌倒，就把它砍下来！ 44 你缺了肢体进入永生，强如有两只手落到地狱，入那不灭的火里去。 45 倘若你一只脚叫你跌倒，就把它砍下来！ 46 你瘸腿进入永生，强如有两只脚被丢在地狱里。 47 倘若你一只眼叫你跌倒，就去掉它！你只有一只眼进入神的国，强如有两只眼被丢在地狱里。 48 在那里，虫是不死的，火是不灭的。 49 因为必用火当盐腌各人[e]。 50 盐本是好的，若失了味，可用什么叫它再咸呢？你们里头应当有盐，彼此和睦。”

2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John(E) with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white,(F) whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi,(G) it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud:(H) “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”(I)
8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone(J) what they had seen until the Son of Man(K) had risen from the dead. 10 They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.
11 And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
12 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man(L) must suffer much(M) and be rejected?(N) 13 But I tell you, Elijah has come,(O) and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”
Jesus Heals a Boy Possessed by an Impure Spirit(P)
14 When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. 15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.
16 “What are you arguing with them about?” he asked.
17 A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.(Q)
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”
“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”(R)
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene,(S) he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.
28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately,(T) “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.[a]”
Jesus Predicts His Death a Second Time(U)
30 They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were, 31 because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man(V) is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him,(W) and after three days(X) he will rise.”(Y) 32 But they did not understand what he meant(Z) and were afraid to ask him about it.
33 They came to Capernaum.(AA) When he was in the house,(AB) he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34 But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.(AC)
35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”(AD)
36 He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms,(AE) he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”(AF)
Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us(AG)
38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”(AH)
39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us.(AI) 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.(AJ)
Causing to Stumble
42 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble,(AK) it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.(AL) 43 If your hand causes you to stumble,(AM) cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell,(AN) where the fire never goes out.(AO) [44] [b] 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble,(AP) cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.(AQ) [46] [c] 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble,(AR) pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,(AS) 48 where
49 Everyone will be salted(AU) with fire.

Jesus Talks with Moses and Elijah
2 Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on a high mountain by themselves. While they watched, Jesus’ appearance was changed. 3 His clothes became shining white, whiter than any person could make them. 4 Then Elijah and Moses[a] appeared to them, talking with Jesus.
5 Peter said to Jesus, “Teacher, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 6 Peter did not know what to say, because he and the others were so frightened.
7 Then a cloud came and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”
8 Suddenly Peter, James, and John looked around, but they saw only Jesus there alone with them.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone about what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
10 So the followers obeyed Jesus, but they discussed what he meant about rising from the dead.
11 Then they asked Jesus, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
12 Jesus answered, “They are right to say that Elijah must come first and make everything the way it should be. But why does the Scripture say that the Son of Man will suffer much and that people will treat him as if he were nothing? 13 I tell you that Elijah has already come. And people did to him whatever they wanted to do, just as the Scriptures said it would happen.”
Jesus Heals a Sick Boy
14 When Jesus, Peter, James, and John came back to the other followers, they saw a great crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. 15 But as soon as the crowd saw Jesus, the people were surprised and ran to welcome him.
16 Jesus asked, “What are you arguing about?”
17 A man answered, “Teacher, I brought my son to you. He has an evil spirit in him that stops him from talking. 18 When the spirit attacks him, it throws him on the ground. Then my son foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes very stiff. I asked your followers to force the evil spirit out, but they couldn’t.”
19 Jesus answered, “You people have no faith. How long must I stay with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20 So the followers brought him to Jesus. As soon as the evil spirit saw Jesus, it made the boy lose control of himself, and he fell down and rolled on the ground, foaming at the mouth.
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been happening?”
The father answered, “Since he was very young. 22 The spirit often throws him into a fire or into water to kill him. If you can do anything for him, please have pity on us and help us.”
23 Jesus said to the father, “You said, ‘If you can!’ All things are possible for the one who believes.”
24 Immediately the father cried out, “I do believe! Help me to believe more!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he ordered the evil spirit, saying, “You spirit that makes people unable to hear or speak, I command you to come out of this boy and never enter him again!”
26 The evil spirit screamed and caused the boy to fall on the ground again. Then the spirit came out. The boy looked as if he were dead, and many people said, “He is dead!” 27 But Jesus took hold of the boy’s hand and helped him to stand up.
28 When Jesus went into the house, his followers began asking him privately, “Why couldn’t we force that evil spirit out?”
29 Jesus answered, “That kind of spirit can only be forced out by prayer.”[b]
Jesus Talks About His Death
30 Then Jesus and his followers left that place and went through Galilee. He didn’t want anyone to know where he was, 31 because he was teaching his followers. He said to them, “The Son of Man will be handed over to people, and they will kill him. After three days, he will rise from the dead.” 32 But the followers did not understand what Jesus meant, and they were afraid to ask him.
Who Is the Greatest?
33 Jesus and his followers went to Capernaum. When they went into a house there, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34 But the followers did not answer, because their argument on the road was about which one of them was the greatest.
35 Jesus sat down and called the twelve apostles to him. He said, “Whoever wants to be the most important must be last of all and servant of all.”
36 Then Jesus took a small child and had him stand among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said, 37 “Whoever accepts a child like this in my name accepts me. And whoever accepts me accepts the One who sent me.”
Anyone Not Against Us Is for Us
38 Then John said, “Teacher, we saw someone using your name to force demons out of a person. We told him to stop, because he does not belong to our group.”
39 But Jesus said, “Don’t stop him, because anyone who uses my name to do powerful things will not easily say evil things about me. 40 Whoever is not against us is with us. 41 I tell you the truth, whoever gives you a drink of water because you belong to the Christ will truly get his reward.
42 “If one of these little children believes in me, and someone causes that child to sin, it would be better for that person to have a large stone tied around his neck and be drowned in the sea. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to lose part of your body and live forever than to have two hands and go to hell, where the fire never goes out. [ 44 In hell the worm does not die; the fire is never put out.][c] 45 If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to lose part of your body and to live forever than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. [ 46 In hell the worm does not die; the fire is never put out.][d] 47 If your eye causes you to sin, take it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell. 48 In hell the worm does not die; the fire is never put out. 49 Every person will be salted with fire.
50 “Salt is good, but if the salt loses its salty taste, you cannot make it salty again. So, be full of salt, and have peace with each other.”
