¹⁷ And ^(A)Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? ^(B)Do you not yet perceive ^(C)or understand? ^(D)Are your hearts hardened?

⁵² for ^(A)they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts ^(B)were hardened.

Warning Against Apostasy

¹¹ About this we have much to say, and it is ^(A)hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. ¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again ^(B)the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need ^(C)milk, not solid food,

⁵ And he ^(A)looked around at them with anger, grieved at ^(B)their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” ^(C)He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

⁸ But ^(A)Jesus, aware of this, said, ^(B)“O you of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? ^9 (C)Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember ^(D)the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered?

²³ and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he ^(A)who searches mind and heart, and ^(B)I will give to each of you according to your works.

¹² For ^(A)the word of God is living and ^(B)active, ^(C)sharper than any ^(D)two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and ^(E)discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ¹³ And ^(F)no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are ^(G)naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him ^(A)the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, ^(B)you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed ^(C)my sheep.

³⁰ Now we know that ^(A)you know all things and do not need anyone to question you; this is why we believe that ^(B)you came from God.”
