33 (A)And when the [a](B)sixth hour came, darkness [b]fell over the whole land until the [c](C)ninth hour. 34 And at the (D)ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, (E)Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 35 And when some of the bystanders heard it, they began saying, “Look, He is calling for Elijah.” 36 And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink, saying, “[d]Let us see whether Elijah will come to take Him down.” 37 (F)And Jesus, uttering a loud cry, breathed His last. 38 (G)And the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 (H)And when the centurion, who was standing [e]right in front of Him, saw [f]the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”

40 (I)And there were also some women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James (J)the [g]Less and Joses, and (K)Salome, 41 who, when He was in Galilee, were following Him and [h](L)serving Him; and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.
