33 (A)And when the [a](B)sixth hour came, darkness [b]fell over the whole land until the [c](C)ninth hour. 34 And at the (D)ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, (E)Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 35 And when some of the bystanders heard it, they began saying, “Look, He is calling for Elijah.” 36 And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink, saying, “[d]Let us see whether Elijah will come to take Him down.” 37 (F)And Jesus, uttering a loud cry, breathed His last. 38 (G)And the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 (H)And when the centurion, who was standing [e]right in front of Him, saw [f]the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”

40 (I)And there were also some women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James (J)the [g]Less and Joses, and (K)Salome, 41 who, when He was in Galilee, were following Him and [h](L)serving Him; and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.

45 (A)Now from the [a]sixth hour darkness [b]fell upon all the land until the [c]ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, (B)Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 47 And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, “This man is calling for Elijah.” 48 (C)And immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink. 49 But the rest of them were saying, “[d]Let us see whether Elijah will come to save Him[e].” 50 And Jesus (D)cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51 (E)And behold, (F)the [f]veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom; and (G)the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52 And the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the [g]saints who had (H)fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered (I)the holy city and appeared to many. 54 (J)Now the centurion, and those who were with him (K)keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw (L)the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, “Truly this was (M)God’s Son!”

55 (N)And many women were there looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee while [h](O)ministering to Him. 56 Among them was (P)Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and (Q)the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

44 (A)And it was now about [a](B)the sixth hour, and darkness [b]fell over the whole land until [c]the ninth hour, 45 [d]because the sun was obscured. And (C)the veil of the [e]sanctuary was torn [f]in two. 46 And Jesus, (D)crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, (E)into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Having said this, He breathed His last. 47 (F)Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began (G)praising God, saying, “Certainly this man was righteous.” 48 And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, when they observed what had happened, were returning, [g](H)beating their chests. 49 (I)And all His acquaintances and (J)the women who accompanied Him from Galilee were standing at a distance, watching these things.
