Jesus’ Teaching about Divorce
10 Getting up, He left there (Capernaum) and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan; and crowds gathered around Him again and accompanied Him, and as was His custom, He once more began to teach them.
2 Pharisees came to Jesus to test Him [intending to trick Him into saying something wrong], and asked Him, “Is it lawful [according to Scripture] for a man to divorce his wife and send her away?” 3 He replied to them, “What did Moses command you?” 4 They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.”(A) 5 But Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of hearts [your callousness and insensitivity toward your wives and the [a]provision of God] he wrote you this precept. 6 But from the beginning of creation God made them male and female.(B) 7 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother [to establish a home with his wife],(C) 8 and the two shall become one flesh; so that they are no longer two, but [are united as] one flesh.(D) 9 Therefore, what God has united and joined together, man must not separate [by divorce].”
10 In the house the disciples began questioning Him again about this. 11 And He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; 12 and if a woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”
Jesus Blesses Little Children
13 People were bringing children to Him so that He would touch and bless them, but the disciples reprimanded them and discouraged them [from coming]. 14 But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and He said to them, “Allow the children to come to Me; do not forbid them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever does not receive and welcome the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” 16 And He took the children [one by one] in His arms and [b]blessed them [with kind, encouraging words], placing His hands on them.
The Rich Young Ruler
17 As He was leaving on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, “Good Teacher [You who are essentially good and morally perfect], what shall I do to inherit eternal life [that is, eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?”(E) 18 Jesus said to him, “[c]Why do you call Me good? No one is [essentially] good [by nature] except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not testify falsely, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’”(F) 20 And he replied to Him, “Teacher, I have [carefully] kept all these [commandments] since my [d]youth.” 21 Looking at him, Jesus felt a love (high regard, compassion) for him, and He said to him, “You lack one thing: go and sell all your property and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have [abundant] treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].” 22 But the man was saddened at Jesus’ words, and he left grieving, because he owned much property and had many possessions [which he treasured more than his relationship with God].
23 Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who are wealthy [and cling to possessions and status as security] to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 The disciples were [e]amazed and bewildered by His words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is [for those who place their hope and confidence in riches] to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man [who places his faith in wealth or status] to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 They were completely and utterly astonished, and said to Him, “Then who can be saved [from the wrath of God]?” 27 Looking at them, Jesus said, “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”
28 Peter started saying to Him, “Look, we have given up everything and followed You [becoming Your disciples and accepting You as Teacher and Lord].” 29 Jesus said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, there is no one who has given up a house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, 30 who will not receive a hundred times as much now in the present age—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms—along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last, first.”
Jesus’ Sufferings Foretold
32 Now they were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they were perplexed [at what Jesus had said], and those who were following were alarmed and afraid. And again He took the twelve [disciples] aside and began telling them what was going to happen to Him, 33 saying, “Listen very carefully: we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed and handed over to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and hand Him over to the Gentiles (Romans). 34 They will mock and ridicule Him and spit on Him, and whip (scourge) Him and kill Him, and three days later He will rise [from the dead].”
35 James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.”(G) 36 And He replied to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 37 They said to Him, “Grant that we may sit [with You], one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your glory [Your majesty and splendor in Your kingdom].” 38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism [of suffering and death] with which I am baptized?” 39 And they replied to Him, “We are able.” Jesus told them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized. 40 But to sit on My right or left, this is not Mine to give; but it is for those for whom it has been prepared [by My Father].”
41 Hearing this, the [other] ten became indignant with James and John. 42 Calling them to Himself, Jesus said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their powerful men exercise authority over them [tyrannizing them]. 43 But this is not how it is among you; instead, whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wishes to be first and most important among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a [f]ransom for many.”
Bartimaeus Receives His Sight
46 Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road [as was his custom].(H) 47 When Bartimaeus heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and say, “Jesus, [g]Son of David (Messiah), have mercy on me!” 48 Many sternly rebuked him, telling him to keep still and be quiet; but he kept on shouting out all the more, “Son of David (Messiah), have mercy on me!” 49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man, telling him, “Take courage, get up! He is calling for you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped up and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni (my Master), let me regain my sight.” 52 Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith [and confident trust in My power] has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Jesus on the road.(I)

- Mark 10:16 The basic meaning of the Greek word found here for “blessed” is to speak kindly of someone. Jesus was probably giving the children encouragement as only He could, with His infallible knowledge of each child’s future.

5 Иисус им отговори и рече: поради вашето жестокосърдие ви е написал тая заповед.

21 (M)Иисус, като го погледна, възлюби го и му рече: едно ти не достига: иди, продай всичко, що имаш, и раздай на сиромаси, и ще имаш съкровище на небето; па дойди и върви след Мене, като вземеш кръста.
22 А той, като се смути от тая дума, отиде си натъжен, защото имаше много имот.
23 (N)И като погледна наоколо, Иисус казва на учениците Си: колко мъчно богатите ще влязат в царството Божие!
24 А учениците се смаяха от думите Му. Но Иисус пак им отговаря и казва: чеда, колко мъчно е ония, които се надяват на богатството си, да влязат в царството Божие!
25 По-лесно е камила да мине през иглени уши, нежели богат да влезе в царството Божие.
26 А те твърде много се чудеха и говореха помежду си: а кой може да се спаси?
27 (O)Иисус, като ги погледна, казва: за човеците това е невъзможно, ала не и за Бога; защото за Бога всичко е възможно.
28 (P)И Петър почна да Му говори: ето, ние оставихме всичко и Те последвахме.
29 А Иисус отговори и рече: истина ви казвам: няма никой, който да е оставил къщи, или братя, или сестри, или баща, или майка, или жена, или деца, или нивя, заради Мене и Евангелието,

31 (Q)А мнозина първи ще бъдат последни, и последни – първи.
32 Когато бяха на път, възлизайки за Иерусалим, Иисус вървеше пред тях, а те бяха смаяни; и следвайки подире Му, бояха се. И като повика пак дванайсетте, Той почна да им говори, какво ще стане с Него:
33 (R)ето, възлизаме за Иерусалим, и Син Човеческий ще бъде предаден на първосвещениците и книжниците, и ще Го осъдят на смърт, и ще Го предадат на езичниците;
34 и ще се поругаят над Него, и ще Го бичуват, и ще Го оплюят, и ще Го убият; и на третия ден ще възкръсне.
35 (S)Тогава се приближиха до Него Зеведеевите синове, Иаков и Иоан, и рекоха: Учителю, желаем да ни сториш, каквото поискаме.
36 Той ги попита: какво искате да ви сторя?
37 Те Му рекоха: дай ни да седнем при Тебе, един отдясно, а друг отляво, в славата Ти.
38 Но Иисус им рече: не знаете, какво искате. Можете ли да пиете чашата, която Аз пия, и да се кръстите с кръщението, с което Аз се кръщавам?
39 Те отговориха: можем. А Иисус им каза: чашата, която Аз пия, ще пиете, и с кръщението, с което Аз се кръщавам, ще се кръстите;
40 но да дам да се седне Мене отдясно и отляво, не зависи от Мене; сядането е на ония, за които е приготвено.
41 (T)И десетте, като чуха, почнаха да негодуват за Иакова и Иоана.
42 А Иисус, като ги повика, рече им: знаете, че ония, които се смятат за князе на народите, господаруват над тях, и велможите им властвуват върху тях.

Despre divorţ
10 Apoi a plecat de acolo şi a venit în regiunea Iudeii (şi)[a] dincolo de Iordan. Mulţimile s-au adunat din nou în jurul Lui, iar El, după cum Îi era obiceiul, a început iarăşi să-i înveţe.
2 Nişte farisei au venit la El ca să-L pună la încercare şi L-au întrebat:
– Are voie un bărbat să divorţeze de soţia lui?
3 Isus i-a întrebat:
– Ce v-a poruncit Moise?
4 Ei I-au răspuns:
– Moise a dat voie ca bărbatul să-i scrie soţiei o carte de despărţire şi s-o lase să plece.
5 Dar Isus le-a zis:
– Din cauza inimilor voastre împietrite v-a scris el această poruncă, 6 însă la începutul creaţiei Dumnezeu „i-a făcut bărbat şi femeie“[b]. 7 „De aceea bărbatul îşi va lăsa tatăl şi mama (şi se va uni cu soţia lui)[c], 8 iar cei doi vor deveni un singur trup.“[d] Aşa că nu mai sunt doi, ci sunt un singur trup! 9 Deci, ceea ce Dumnezeu a unit, omul să nu despartă!
10 În casă, ucenicii L-au întrebat cu privire la aceasta. 11 El le-a zis: „Oricine divorţează de soţia lui şi se căsătoreşte cu altcineva, comite adulter împotriva ei. 12 Şi dacă o soţie divorţează de bărbatul ei şi se căsătoreşte cu altcineva, comite adulter.“

13 I-au adus nişte copilaşi, ca să se atingă de ei, dar ucenicii i-au mustrat pe cei care i-au adus. 14 Isus însă, când a văzut acest lucru, s-a indignat şi le-a zis: „Lăsaţi copilaşii să vină la Mine şi nu-i opriţi, pentru că Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu este a celor ca ei! 15 Adevărat vă spun că oricine nu primeşte Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu ca un copilaş, cu nici un chip nu va intra în ea!“ 16 Apoi i-a luat în braţe şi i-a binecuvântat punându-Şi mâinile peste ei.
Isus şi tânărul bogat
17 Chiar când pornea la drum, a alergat la El un om care a îngenuncheat înaintea Lui şi L-a întrebat:
– Bunule Învăţător, ce să fac ca să moştenesc viaţă veşnică?
18 Isus i-a răspuns:
– De ce Mă numeşti „bun“? Nimeni nu este bun decât Unul: Dumnezeu. 19 Cunoşti poruncile: „Să nu ucizi“, „Să nu comiţi adulter“, „Să nu furi“, „Să nu depui mărturie falsă“, „Să nu înşeli“, „Cinsteşte-l pe tatăl tău şi pe mama ta.“[e]
20 El I-a spus:
– Învăţătorule, pe toate acestea le-am împlinit încă din tinereţea mea.
21 Privindu-l, Isus l-a iubit şi i-a zis:
– Îţi lipseşte un singur lucru: du-te, vinde tot ce ai şi dă săracilor, şi vei avea astfel o comoară în cer. Apoi vino, urmează-Mă!
22 Mâhnit de aceste cuvinte, a plecat întristat, pentru că avea multe posesiuni.
23 Isus a privit în jur şi le-a zis ucenicilor Săi:
– Cât de greu va fi pentru cei bogaţi să intre în Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu!
24 Ucenicii au rămas uimiţi de cuvintele Lui. Isus le-a zis iarăşi:
– Copii, cât de greu este (pentru cei ce se încred în bogăţii)[f] să intre în Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu! 25 Este mai uşor să treacă o cămilă prin urechea acului, decât să intre un om bogat în Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu.
26 Ei au rămas foarte uimiţi şi se întrebau între ei: „Atunci cine poate fi mântuit?“
27 Isus i-a privit şi a zis:
– Este imposibil pentru oameni, dar nu şi pentru Dumnezeu, căci pentru Dumnezeu toate lucrurile sunt posibile.
28 Petru a început să-I zică:
– Iată, noi am lăsat totul şi Te-am urmat.
29 Isus a răspuns:
– Adevărat vă spun că nu este nimeni care să-şi fi lăsat casă, sau fraţi, sau surori, sau mamă, sau tată, sau copii sau ogorul de dragul Meu şi de dragul Evangheliei 30 şi care să nu primească de o sută de ori mai mult acum, în vremea aceasta, case, fraţi, surori, mame, copii şi ogoare, împreună cu persecuţii, iar în veacul care vine – viaţă veşnică. 31 Dar mulţi din cei dintâi vor fi cei din urmă, iar cei din urmă vor fi cei dintâi.
Isus vorbeşte din nou despre moartea şi învierea Sa
32 Ei erau pe drum şi se îndreptau spre Ierusalim. Isus mergea înaintea lor. Ucenicii erau neliniştiţi, iar cei care-L urmau erau speriaţi. Isus i-a luat din nou deoparte pe cei doisprezece şi a început să le vorbească despre ce urma să I se întâmple: 33 „Iată că ne suim spre Ierusalim şi Fiul Omului va fi dat pe mâna conducătorilor preoţilor şi a cărturarilor. Ei Îl vor condamna la moarte şi-L vor da pe mâna neamurilor, 34 care Îl vor batjocori, Îl vor scuipa, Îl vor biciui şi-L vor omorî. Dar după trei zile va învia.“
Cererea fiilor lui Zebedei
35 Iacov şi Ioan, fiii lui Zebedei, au venit la El şi I-au zis:
– Învăţătorule, vrem să faci pentru noi orice-Ţi vom cere.
36 Isus i-a întrebat:
– Ce vreţi să fac pentru voi?
37 Ei I-au răspuns:
– Dă-ne voie să şedem unul la dreapta şi altul la stânga Ta, în slava Ta.
38 Isus le-a zis:
– Nu ştiţi ce cereţi. Puteţi voi să beţi paharul pe care îl beau Eu[g] sau să fiţi botezaţi cu botezul cu care sunt botezat Eu[h]?
39 – Putem! au răspuns ei.
Isus le-a zis:
– Veţi bea paharul pe care-l voi bea Eu şi veţi fi botezaţi cu botezul cu care sunt botezat Eu, 40 dar dreptul de a sta la dreapta sau la stânga Mea nu ţine de Mine să-l dau, ci este pentru aceia cărora le-a fost pregătit.
41 Ceilalţi zece, când au auzit, au început să fie indignaţi de Iacov şi Ioan. 42 Isus i-a chemat la El şi le-a zis: „Ştiţi că cei care sunt consideraţi domnitorii neamurilor fac pe stăpânii cu ele, iar mai marii lor se poartă cu tiranie cu ele. 43 Între voi să nu fie aşa! Ci oricine vrea să fie mai mare între voi trebuie să devină slujitorul vostru, 44 iar cel ce vrea să fie primul între voi trebuie să devină sclavul tuturor. 45 Căci Fiul Omului n-a venit ca să fie slujit, ci ca să slujească şi să-Şi dea viaţa ca răscumpărare pentru mulţi.“
Vindecarea orbului Bartimeu
46 Au ajuns în Ierihon. Când a ieşit Isus din Ierihon, împreună cu ucenicii Lui şi cu o mulţime destul de mare de oameni, un cerşetor orb, pe nume Bartimeu, fiul lui Timeu, şedea lângă drum. 47 Când a auzit el că trece Isus din Nazaret, a început să strige:
– Fiul lui David[i], Isuse, ai milă de mine!
48 Mulţi îl mustrau spunându-i să tacă, dar el striga şi mai tare:
– Fiul lui David, ai milă de mine!
49 Isus S-a oprit şi a zis: „Chemaţi-l!“ Ei l-au chemat pe orb şi i-au zis: „Îndrăzneşte! Ridică-te, căci te cheamă!“ 50 El şi-a aruncat haina, a sărit în picioare şi a venit la Isus. 51 Isus l-a întrebat:
– Ce vrei să fac pentru tine?
El I-a răspuns:
– Rabbuni[j], să-mi recapăt vederea!
52 Isus i-a zis:
– Du-te, credinţa ta te-a vindecat!
Imediat el şi-a recăpătat vederea şi L-a urmat pe Isus pe drum.

Divorce(A)
10 Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan.(B) Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.(C)
2 Some Pharisees(D) came and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”
3 “What did Moses command you?” he replied.
4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”(E)

He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.(L) 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”(M) 16 And he took the children in his arms,(N) placed his hands on them and blessed them.
The Rich and the Kingdom of God(O)
17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees(P) before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”(Q)
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[d]”(R)
20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor,(S) and you will have treasure in heaven.(T) Then come, follow me.”(U)
22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich(V) to enter the kingdom of God!”
24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[e] to enter the kingdom of God!(W) 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”(X)
26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”(Y)
28 Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”(Z)
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much(AA) in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come(AB) eternal life.(AC) 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”(AD)
Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(AE)
32 They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve(AF) aside and told them what was going to happen to him. 33 “We are going up to Jerusalem,”(AG) he said, “and the Son of Man(AH) will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law.(AI) They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, 34 who will mock him and spit on him, flog him(AJ) and kill him.(AK) Three days later(AL) he will rise.”(AM)
The Request of James and John(AN)
35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”(AO)
38 “You don’t know what you are asking,”(AP) Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup(AQ) I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”(AR)
39 “We can,” they answered.
Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with,(AS) 40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”
41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,(AT) 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,(AU) and to give his life as a ransom for many.”(AV)
Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight(AW)
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth,(AX) he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David,(AY) have mercy on me!”
48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi,(AZ) I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.”(BA) Immediately he received his sight and followed(BB) Jesus along the road.
