The Twelve Sent Out

^7 (A)And ^(B)He *summoned the twelve and began to send them out ^(C)in pairs, and was giving them authority over the unclean spirits; ^8 (D)and He instructed them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only—no bread, no ^[a]bag, no money in their belt— ⁹ but ^[b]to wear sandals; and He added, “Do not put on two ^[c]tunics.” ¹⁰ And He was saying to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you ^[d]leave town. ¹¹ And any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, ^(E)shake the dust ^[e]off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them.”

Jesus Appoints the Twelve

10 ^(A)And summoning His twelve disciples, Jesus gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to ^(B)heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.

^9 (A)Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, ¹⁰ or a ^[a]bag for your journey, or even two ^[b]tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for ^(B)the worker is worthy of his ^[c]support. ¹¹ And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay there until you leave. ¹² Now as you enter the ^[d]house, ^(C)give it your ^[e]greeting. ¹³ And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ¹⁴ And whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you leave that house or that city, ^(D)shake the dust off your feet.

The Twelve Disciples Sent Out

9 ^(A)And calling the twelve together, He gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.

³ And He said to them, “^(A)Take nothing for your journey, ^(B)neither a staff, nor a ^[a]bag, nor bread, nor money; nor have two ^[b]tunics apiece. ⁴ And whatever house you enter, stay there ^[c]until you leave that city. ⁵ And as for those who do not receive you, as you go out from that city, ^(C)shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

^4 (A)Carry no money belt, no bag, no sandals, and greet no one on the way. ⁵ Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’ ⁶ And if a ^[a]man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him, but if not, it will return to you. ⁷ Stay in ^[b]that house, eating and drinking ^[c]what they give you; for ^(B)the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not keep moving from house to house. ⁸ And whatever city you enter and they receive you, ^(C)eat what is set before you; ⁹ and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘^(D)The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ ¹⁰ But in whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ¹¹ ‘^(E)Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off against you; yet know this, that ^(F)the kingdom of God is at hand.’
