Ang Pulong Sang Dios
12 Dumduma ang imo Manunuga samtang bataon ka pa, sa wala pa mag-abot ang mga tion sang kalisod nga magasiling ka, “Wala ako nalipay sa akon kabuhi.” 2 Dumduma siya sa wala pa magdulom sa imo ang kasanag sang adlaw, bulan kag mga bituon, kag sa wala pa magdulom sa imo ang imo palibot nga daw sa nadulman permi sang gal-om. 3 Magaabot ang adlaw nga ang imo mga butkon[a] magakulurog kag ang imo mga tiil[b] magaluya. Ang imo mga ngipon[c] indi na makausang tungod kay pila na lang ini ka bilog, kag ang imo mga mata[d] indi na makakita sing maayo. 4 Ang imo mga dulunggan[e] indi na kaayo makabati, bisan sang gahod sang galingan ukon huni sang mga pispis ukon sang sunata. 5 Mahadlok ka na magsaka sa mataas nga lugar ukon maglakat-lakat sa karsada. Magaputi na ang imo mga buhok kag madula ang imo kapagros kag mga handom. Sa ulihi magakadto ka sa lugar nga imo puy-an sa wala sing katapusan, kag madamo ang magapangasubo para sa imo sa mga karsada.
6 Gani dumduma ang Dios sa wala ka pa mapatay, sa wala pa mabugto ang kadena nga pilak kag mabuka ang suludlan nga bulawan, ukon sa wala pa mabugto ang higot sang tibod nga ginatimba sa bubon, kag mawasak ang tibod. 7 Magabalik ka sa duta nga amo ang imo ginhalinan, kag ang imo espiritu[f] magabalik sa Dios nga amo ang naghatag sini.
8 Ako nga manugwali[g] nagasiling, “Wala gid sing pulos! Wala gid sing pulos ang tanan!”
Tahura kag Tumana ang Dios
9 Wala labot nga maalamon ang amo nga manugwali, ginatudluan man niya ang mga tawo parte sa iya nahibaluan. Gintun-an niya sing maayo ang madamo nga mga hulubaton nga iya ginplastar diri. 10 Gintinguhaan niya nga magamit ang ensakto nga mga pulong, kag ang iya mga ginsulat diri husto kag matuod. 11 Ang mga pulong sang maalamon nga tawo pareho sa taliwis nga baston nga ginagamit sa pagtuytoy sa mga sapat, kag pareho man ini sang lansang nga nagadulot sing maayo. Ginhatag ini sang isa ka Manugbantay.
12 Anak, mag-andam ka sa sining isa pa ka butang: Ang pagsulat sang mga libro wala sing katapusan, kag ang sobra nga pagtuon makapakapoy sa imo.
13 Karon nga nabasahan[h] mo ini tanan, amo ini ang akon masiling sa katapusan: Magtahod ka sa Dios kag tumana ang iya mga sugo, kay amo ini ang katungdanan sang tagsa ka tawo. 14 Kay hukman sang Dios ang tanan ta nga ginahimo, maayo man ukon malain, pati ang mga ginahimo naton sa tago.

12 Remember(A) your Creator
in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble(B) come
and the years approach when you will say,
“I find no pleasure in them”—
2 before the sun and the light
and the moon and the stars grow dark,
and the clouds return after the rain;
3 when the keepers of the house tremble,
and the strong men stoop,
when the grinders cease because they are few,
and those looking through the windows grow dim;
4 when the doors to the street are closed
and the sound of grinding fades;
when people rise up at the sound of birds,
but all their songs grow faint;(C)
5 when people are afraid of heights
and of dangers in the streets;
when the almond tree blossoms
and the grasshopper drags itself along
and desire no longer is stirred.
Then people go to their eternal home(D)
and mourners(E) go about the streets.
6 Remember him—before the silver cord is severed,
and the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
and the wheel broken at the well,
7 and the dust returns(F) to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God(G) who gave it.(H)
The Conclusion of the Matter
9 Not only was the Teacher wise, but he also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs.(K) 10 The Teacher(L) searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.(M)
11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails(N)—given by one shepherd.[b] 12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them.
Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.(O)

12 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
2 While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:
3 In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,
4 And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.
9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
