^14 (A)But you say, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord ^(B)was witness between you and the wife of your youth, ^(C)to whom ^(D)you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.

⁵ “Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be ^(A)a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those ^(B)who oppress the hired worker in his wages, ^(C)the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.

^15 (A)Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union?^[a] And what was the one God^[b] seeking?^{[c] (B)}Godly offspring. So guard yourselves^[d] in your spirit, and let none of you be ^(C)faithless to the wife of your youth.

⁵⁰ If you oppress my daughters, or if you take wives besides my daughters, although no one is with us, see, ^(A)God is witness between you and me.”

⁵ Then they said to Jeremiah, ^(A)“May the Lord be a true and ^(B)faithful witness against us ^(C)if we do not act according to all the word ^(D)with which the Lord your God sends you to us.

⁹ Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your ^(A)vain^[a] life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your ^(B)portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun.

The Priests' Polluted Offerings

^6 (A)“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am ^(B)a father, where is my honor? And if I am ^(C)a master, where is my fear? says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. ^(D)But you say, ‘How have we despised your name?’ ^7 (E)By offering polluted food upon my altar. ^(F)But you say, ‘How have we polluted you?’ By saying that ^(G)the Lord's table may be despised.
