The Plot to Kill Jesus(A)
22 Now (B)the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. 2 And (C)the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.
3 (D)Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the (E)twelve. 4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. 5 And they were glad, and (F)agreed to give him money. 6 So he promised and sought opportunity to (G)betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.
Jesus and His Disciples Prepare the Passover
7 (H)Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be [a]killed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
9 So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?”
10 And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. 11 Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ 12 Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”
13 So they went and (I)found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper
14 (J)When the hour had come, He sat down, and the [b]twelve apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it (K)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for (L)I say to you, [c]I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 (M)And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My (N)body which is given for you; (O)do this in remembrance of Me.”
20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, (P)“This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. 21 (Q)But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table. 22 (R)And truly the Son of Man goes (S)as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”
23 (T)Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.
The Disciples Argue About Greatness
24 (U)Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 (V)And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ 26 (W)But not so among you; on the contrary, (X)he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. 27 (Y)For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet (Z)I am among you as the One who serves.
28 “But you are those who have continued with Me in (AA)My trials. 29 And (AB)I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, 30 that (AC)you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, (AD)and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(AE)
31 [d]And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, (AF)Satan has asked for you, that he may (AG)sift you as wheat. 32 But (AH)I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, (AI)strengthen your brethren.”
33 But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”
34 (AJ)Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
Supplies for the Road
35 (AK)And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?”
So they said, “Nothing.”
36 Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I say to you that this which is written must still be [e]accomplished in Me: (AL)‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.”
38 So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.”
And He said to them, “It is enough.”
The Prayer in the Garden(AM)
39 (AN)Coming out, (AO)He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 (AP)When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
41 (AQ)And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless (AR)not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 [f]Then (AS)an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 (AT)And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. 46 Then He said to them, “Why (AU)do you sleep? Rise and (AV)pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane(AW)
47 And while He was still speaking, (AX)behold, a multitude; and he who was called (AY)Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. 48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a (AZ)kiss?”
49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 And (BA)one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
51 But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
52 (BB)Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, “Have you come out, as against a (BC)robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When I was with you daily in the (BD)temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your (BE)hour, and the power of darkness.”
Peter Denies Jesus, and Weeps Bitterly(BF)
54 (BG)Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. (BH)But Peter followed at a distance. 55 (BI)Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. 56 And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man was also with Him.”
57 But he denied [g]Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”
58 (BJ)And after a little while another saw him and said, “You also are of them.”
But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”
59 (BK)Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a (BL)Galilean.”
60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!”
Immediately, while he was still speaking, [h]the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then (BM)Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, (BN)“Before the rooster [i]crows, you will deny Me three times.” 62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly.
Jesus Mocked and Beaten(BO)
63 (BP)Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and (BQ)beat Him. 64 [j]And having blindfolded Him, they (BR)struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck You?” 65 And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.
Jesus Faces the Sanhedrin(BS)
66 (BT)As soon as it was day, (BU)the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying, 67 (BV)“If You are the Christ, tell us.”
But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will (BW)by no means believe. 68 And if I [k]also ask you, you will by no means answer [l]Me or let Me go. 69 (BX)Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”
70 Then they all said, “Are You then the Son of God?”
So He said to them, (BY)“You rightly say that I am.”
71 (BZ)And they said, “What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”

Змова проти Ісуса
(Мт. 26:1-5, 14-16; Мк. 14:1-2, 10-11; Ін. 11:45-53)
22 Наближалося свято Прісних Хлібів, яке ще називають Пасхою. 2 Головні священики та книжники все шукали спосіб, як би обманом і таємно від народу, схопити та вбити Ісуса, але боялися людей.
Юдина зрада
(Мт. 26:14-16; Мк. 14:10-11)
3 І тоді сатана вселився в Юду, якого називали Іскаріотом. Він був одним з дванадцятьох апостолів. 4 Юда прийшов до головних священиків й начальників храмової варти і почав говорити з ними про те, як він може видати їм Ісуса. 5 Ті дуже зраділи й пообіцяли добре заплатити йому за це. 6 Тож Юда почав шукати слушної нагоди, аби видати їм Ісуса, коли навколо Нього не буде натовпу.
Пасхальна вечеря
(Мт. 26:17-25; Мк. 14:12-21; Ін. 13:21-30)
7 Настав день свята Прісних Хлібів[a], коли за звичаєм належало приносити в жертву Пасхальне ягня. 8 Ісус послав Петра й Іоана, наказавши їм: «Ідіть і приготуйте для нас Пасхальну вечерю».
9 Вони питають: «Де б Ти хотів, щоб ми приготували вечерю?» 10 Ісус відповів: «Як увійдете в місто, вам зустрінеться чоловік, який нестиме глечик з водою. Ідіть за ним до тієї оселі, куди він зайде. 11 Та скажіть господареві цього дому, що Вчитель питає: „Де кімната для гостей, в котрій Я їстиму Пасхальну вечерю зі Своїми учнями?” 12 Тоді той чоловік приведе вас у велику вмебльовану кімнату нагорі. Там і приготуйте нам усе для вечері».
13 Отож Петро та Іоан пішли до міста і все сталося так, як Він казав їм. Там вони і приготували Пасхальну вечерю.
Вечеря Господня

14 Коли настав час, Ісус зайняв місце за столом, і апостоли сіли разом з Ним.
15 Ісус звернувся до них: «Я дуже хотів спожити разом з вами Пасхальну вечерю перш, ніж прийму страждання. 16 Бо кажу вам, що не їстиму більше Пасхальної вечері доти, доки не здійсниться це у Царстві Божому».
17 Потім узяв Він чашу й подякувавши Богові, сказав: «Нехай кожний з вас вип’є з чаші цієї. 18 Бо істинно кажу вам, що Я не питиму більш від плоду лози виноградної аж до того дня, коли прийде Царство Боже».
19 Потім Ісус узяв хлібину, та віддавши дяку Господу, благословив її. Після того Він розломив хліб і роздав Своїм апостолам зі словами: «Це тіло Моє, що буде віддане за вас. Їжте його на спомин про Мене». 20 Після вечері Ісус так само взяв чашу з вином і промовив: «Це вино символізує кров Мою, що засновує Новий Заповіт Божий для людей, які належать Йому; і проллється вона за вас»[b].
21 Потім Ісус мовив: «Один із вас незабаром зрадить Мене; його рука зараз знаходиться поруч з Моєю. 22 Син Людський піде на смерть, як і було Йому призначено Господом. Та горе тому, хто видасть Сина Людського на смерть». 23 Тоді апостоли почали сперечатися один з одним про те, хто б міг таке зробити.
Будьте як слуги, а не як пани
24 Також серед учнів Ісусових спалахнула суперечка про те, хто з них вважається найбільшим. 25 Але Ісус сказав їм: «Царі поганські панують над своїми народами. І ті, хто має владу над людьми, вимагають, щоб їх називали благодійниками. 26 Але ж ви не поводьте себе так. Навпаки, найбільший з-поміж вас мусить стати як найменший, а пан—ніби слуга. 27 Бо хто значніший: той, хто сидить за столом, чи той, хто йому прислуговує? Чи не той, хто сидить за столом? Але Я серед вас як той, хто прислуговує.
28 Ви зосталися зі Мною в Моїх випробуваннях. 29 І Я заповідаю вам Царство так само, як Мій Батько заповідав Його Мені. 30 То ви сидітимете за Моїм столом у Царстві Небесному, будете їсти й пити зі Мною. Саме вам сидіти на престолах, щоб судити дванадцять племен ізраїльських».
Випробовування Петра

31 «Симоне[c], Симоне, послухай! Сатана просив дозволу перевірити вас, неначе селянин перевіряє пшеницю, відділяючи добре зерно від поганого. 32 Та Я молився за тебе, щоб не втратив ти віру. То ж коли ти, Симоне, знов повернешся до Мене, укріпи віру братів своїх».
33 Однак Симон, якого ще звали Петром, відповів: «Господи, я готовий іти з Тобою до в’язниці й навіть на смерть». 34 Але Ісус промовив: «Кажу тобі, Петре: ще й півень не проспіває уранці, ти тричі зречешся Мене»[d].
35 І звернувся Ісус до Своїх учнів: «Коли Я посилав вас без гаманця, торби й сандалів, чи вам чогось бракувало?» Вони відповіли: «Нічого». 36 Ісус продовжував: «Але зараз, якщо хто має гаманця, мусить взяти його. Так само, якщо хто має торбу, хай візьме торбу свою. І якщо хто не має меча, хай продасть свій плащ і придбає меч. 37 Бо кажу вам, що сказане у Святому Писанні мусить збутися зі Мною: „І вважатимуть Його за злочинця”.(A) Так, усе сказане про Мене наближається до здійснення».
38 Учні кажуть: «Господи, подивись, ось тут два мечі». І Він відповів: «Цього достатньо»[e].
Ісус молиться на самоті
(Мт. 26:36-46; Мк. 14:32-42)
39 Потім, за звичаєм, Ісус вирушив на Оливну гору, та учні Його пішли за Ним. 40 Прийшовши на місце, Ісус сказав їм: «Моліться, щоб не піддатися спокусам». 41 Відійшовши від учнів на відстань приблизно в 50 кроків, Ісус став на коліна й почав молитися: 42 «Отче, якщо на те воля Твоя, нехай обмине Мене ця чаша[f] страждань. Але хай збудеться не те, чого Я хочу, а те, чого Ти бажаєш». 43 І з’явився перед Ним Ангел з небес і зміцнив Його сили. 44 Долаючи біль, Ісус молився ще більш ревно. І піт Його падав на землю, мов краплі крові[g].
45 Закінчивши молитися, Ісус повернувся до Своїх учнів, та побачив, що вони сплять, виснажені горем. 46 Ісус розбудив їх, кажучи: «Чому ви спите? Вставайте й моліться, щоб не піддатися спокусам».
Арешт Ісуса

47 Поки Ісус це казав, з’явився натовп людей. Їх вів Юда, один з дванадцятьох апостолів. Він підійшов до Ісуса, щоб поцілувати Його.
48 Але Ісус запитав його: «Юдо, ти зраджуєш Сина Людського дружнім поцілунком?» 49 Зрозумівши, що має статися, учні, які стояли навколо, запитали: «Господи, чи хочеш, щоб ми вдарили своїми мечами?» 50 Та один із учнів ударив мечем слугу первосвященика й відтяв йому праве вухо.

Петро зрікається Ісуса

54 Вони схопили Ісуса й відвели Його до будинку первосвященика, а Петро, тримаючись віддалік, йшов за Ісусом. 55 Охоронці розклали серед двору багаття й повсідалися навколо. Петро сів разом із ними.
56 Одна з дівчат-служниць побачила Петра, сидячого біля вогнища. Вона пильно придивилася на нього в відблисках багаття й сказала: «Цей чоловік також був з Ісусом». 57 Та Петро заперечив, мовивши: «Жінко, я не знаю Його!»
58 Трохи згодом інший чоловік побачив Петра і сказав: «Ти також один із учнів Христових!» Та Петро відповів: «Ні, чоловіче! Це не так!»
59 Минуло щось близько години, і ще один чоловік почав стверджувати: «Безперечно, цей чоловік також був з Ісусом, адже він теж з Ґалилеї». 60 Але Петро відповів: «Чоловіче, я не знаю, про що ти говориш!» І тієї ж миті, коли Петро ще не закінчив речення, проспівав півень. 61 Тоді Ісус обернувся й подивився в очі Петру. І згадав Петро Господні слова: «Перш ніж сьогодні проспіває півень, ти тричі зречешся Мене». 62 Тоді Петро пішов геть, гірко ридаючи.
Знущання з Ісуса

63 Люди, які тримали Ісуса під охороною, почали насміхатися над Ним й бити Його. 64 Вони також затулили Ісусу очі й почали бити Його, кажучи: «Доведи ж нам що Ти пророк[h], назви того із нас, хто вдарив Тебе!» 65 І говорили вони багато іншого Ісусу, щоб образити Його.
Ісус перед Синедріоном
(Мт. 26:59-66; Мк. 14:55-64; Ін. 18:19-24)
66 Вранці наступного дня, зібралися разом старійшини народу, головні священики й книжники, та привели Ісуса на своє зібрання[i]. 67 Вони сказали: «Якщо Ти Христос, то скажи нам це». 2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.
55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.
64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus(A)
22 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,(B) 2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus,(C) for they were afraid of the people. 3 Then Satan(D) entered Judas, called Iscariot,(E) one of the Twelve. 4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard(F) and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. 5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money.(G) 6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.

7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.(M) 8 Jesus sent Peter and John,(N) saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
9 “Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.
10 He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them.(O) So they prepared the Passover.
14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles(P) reclined at the table.(Q) 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.(R) 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”(S)
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it,(T) and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant(U) in my blood, which is poured out for you.[a] 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.(V) 22 The Son of Man(W) will go as it has been decreed.(X) But woe to that man who betrays him!” 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
24 A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.(Y) 25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26 But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest,(Z) and the one who rules like the one who serves.(AA) 27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.(AB) 28 You are those who have stood by me in my trials. 29 And I confer on you a kingdom,(AC) just as my Father conferred one on me, 30 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom(AD) and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.(AE)
31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked(AF) to sift all of you as wheat.(AG) 32 But I have prayed for you,(AH) Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”(AI)
33 But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.”(AJ)
34 Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”
35 Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals,(AK) did you lack anything?”
“Nothing,” they answered.
36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’[b];(AL) and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38 The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.”
“That’s enough!” he replied.
Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives(AM)
39 Jesus went out as usual(AN) to the Mount of Olives,(AO) and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”(AP) 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down(AQ) and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup(AR) from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”(AS) 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.(AT) 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.[c]
45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”(AU)
Jesus Arrested(AV)
47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49 When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”(AW) 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51 But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard,(AX) and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was with you in the temple courts,(AY) and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour(AZ)—when darkness reigns.”(BA)
Peter Disowns Jesus(BB)
54 Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest.(BC) Peter followed at a distance.(BD) 55 And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. 56 A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.”
57 But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
58 A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.”
“Man, I am not!” Peter replied.
59 About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”(BE)
60 Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 The Lord(BF) turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”(BG) 62 And he went outside and wept bitterly.
The Guards Mock Jesus(BH)
63 The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him. 64 They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?” 65 And they said many other insulting things to him.(BI)
Jesus Before Pilate and Herod(BJ)(BK)(BL)
66 At daybreak the council(BM) of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together,(BN) and Jesus was led before them. 67 “If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.”
Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, 68 and if I asked you, you would not answer.(BO) 69 But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”(BP)
70 They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?”(BQ)
He replied, “You say that I am.”(BR)
71 Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”
