Jesus Calls the First Disciples
5 Once while Jesus[a] was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, 2 he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” 6 When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” 11 When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.
Jesus Cleanses a Leper
12 Once, when he was in one of the cities, there was a man covered with leprosy.[b] When he saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you choose, you can make me clean.” 13 Then Jesus[c] stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I do choose. Be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy[d] left him. 14 And he ordered him to tell no one. “Go,” he said, “and show yourself to the priest, and, as Moses commanded, make an offering for your cleansing, for a testimony to them.” 15 But now more than ever the word about Jesus[e] spread abroad; many crowds would gather to hear him and to be cured of their diseases. 16 But he would withdraw to deserted places and pray.
Jesus Heals a Paralytic
17 One day, while he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting near by (they had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem); and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.[f] 18 Just then some men came, carrying a paralyzed man on a bed. They were trying to bring him in and lay him before Jesus;[g] 19 but finding no way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the middle of the crowd[h] in front of Jesus. 20 When he saw their faith, he said, “Friend,[i] your sins are forgiven you.” 21 Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, “Who is this who is speaking blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 22 When Jesus perceived their questionings, he answered them, “Why do you raise such questions in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’? 24 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the one who was paralyzed—“I say to you, stand up and take your bed and go to your home.” 25 Immediately he stood up before them, took what he had been lying on, and went to his home, glorifying God. 26 Amazement seized all of them, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, “We have seen strange things today.”
Jesus Calls Levi
27 After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, “Follow me.” 28 And he got up, left everything, and followed him.
29 Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sitting at the table[j] with them. 30 The Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 Jesus answered, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; 32 I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
The Question about Fasting
33 Then they said to him, “John’s disciples, like the disciples of the Pharisees, frequently fast and pray, but your disciples eat and drink.” 34 Jesus said to them, “You cannot make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you? 35 The days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.” 36 He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and sews it on an old garment; otherwise the new will be torn, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. 38 But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine desires new wine, but says, ‘The old is good.’”[k]

12 (B)Mentre egli si trovava in una di quelle città[e], ecco un uomo tutto coperto di lebbra, il quale, veduto Gesù, si gettò con la faccia a terra e lo pregò, dicendo: «Signore, se vuoi, tu puoi purificarmi». 13 Ed egli, stesa la mano, lo toccò, dicendo: «Lo voglio, sii purificato». E subito la lebbra sparì da lui. 14 Poi Gesù gli comandò di non dirlo a nessuno. «Ma va’», gli disse, «mòstrati al sacerdote e offri per la tua purificazione ciò che Mosè ha prescritto; e ciò serva loro di testimonianza».
15 Però la fama di lui si spandeva sempre più; e grandi folle si radunavano per udirlo ed essere [da lui] guarite dalle loro infermità. 16 Ma egli si ritirava nei luoghi deserti e pregava.
Gesù guarisce un paralitico
17 (C)Un giorno Gesù stava insegnando, e c’erano là seduti dei farisei e dei dottori della legge, venuti da tutti i villaggi della Galilea, della Giudea e da Gerusalemme; e la potenza del Signore era con lui per compiere guarigioni[f]. 18 Ed ecco degli uomini che portavano sopra un letto un uomo che era paralizzato, e cercavano di farlo entrare e di metterlo davanti a lui. 19 Non trovando modo d’introdurlo a causa della folla, salirono sul tetto e, fatta un’apertura fra le tegole, lo calarono giù con il lettuccio, lì nel mezzo, davanti a Gesù. 20 Ed egli, veduta la loro fede, disse [a lui]: «Uomo, i tuoi peccati ti sono perdonati». 21 Allora gli scribi e i farisei cominciarono a ragionare, dicendo: «Chi è costui che pronuncia bestemmie? Chiamata di Levi
27 (D)Dopo queste cose, egli uscì e notò un pubblicano, di nome Levi, che sedeva al banco delle imposte, e gli disse: «Seguimi». 28 Ed egli, lasciata ogni cosa, si alzò e si mise a seguirlo.
29 Levi gli preparò un grande banchetto in casa sua; e una gran folla di pubblicani e di altre persone erano a tavola con loro. 30 I farisei e i loro scribi mormoravano contro i suoi discepoli, dicendo: «Perché mangiate e bevete con i pubblicani e i peccatori?» 31 Gesù rispose loro: «Non sono i sani che hanno bisogno del medico, bensì i malati. 32 Io non sono venuto a chiamare dei giusti, ma dei peccatori a ravvedimento».
Del digiuno; parabola della stoffa nuova e degli otri nuovi
33 (E)Essi gli dissero: «I discepoli di Giovanni digiunano spesso e pregano, così pure quelli dei farisei; i tuoi invece mangiano e bevono[g]». 34 Gesù disse loro[h]: «Potete far digiunare gli amici dello sposo[i], mentre lo sposo è con loro? 35 Ma verranno i giorni in cui lo sposo sarà loro tolto; allora, in quei giorni, digiuneranno». 36 Disse loro anche una parabola: «Nessuno strappa un pezzo da un vestito nuovo per metterlo a un vestito vecchio[j], altrimenti strappa il nuovo e il pezzo tolto dal nuovo non si adatta al vecchio. 37 Nessuno mette vino nuovo in otri vecchi, altrimenti il vino nuovo fa scoppiare gli otri e si spande, e gli otri vanno perduti. 38 Ma il vino nuovo va messo in otri nuovi [e l’uno e gli altri si conservano]. 39 {E} nessuno, che abbia bevuto vino vecchio, ne desidera [subito] del nuovo, perché dice: “Il vecchio è buono[k]”».

5 Es begab sich aber, als die Menge sich zu ihm drängte, um das Wort Gottes zu hören, dass er am See Genezareth stand;
2 und er sah zwei Schiffe am Ufer liegen; die Fischer aber waren aus ihnen ausgestiegen und wuschen die Netze.
3 Da stieg er in eines der Schiffe, das Simon gehörte, und bat ihn, ein wenig vom Land wegzufahren; und er setzte sich und lehrte die Volksmenge vom Schiff aus.
4 Als er aber zu reden aufgehört hatte, sprach er zu Simon: Fahre hinaus auf die Tiefe, und lasst eure Netze zu einem Fang hinunter!
5 Und Simon antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Meister, wir haben die ganze Nacht hindurch gearbeitet und nichts gefangen; aber auf dein Wort will ich das Netz auswerfen!
6 Und als sie das getan hatten, fingen sie eine große Menge Fische; und ihr Netz begann zu reißen.
7 Da winkten sie den Gefährten, die im anderen Schiff waren, dass sie kommen und ihnen helfen sollten; und sie kamen und füllten beide Schiffe, sodass sie zu sinken begannen.
8 Als aber Simon Petrus das sah, fiel er zu den Knien Jesu nieder und sprach: Herr, gehe von mir hinweg, denn ich bin ein sündiger Mensch!
9 Denn ein Schrecken überkam ihn und alle, die bei ihm waren, wegen des Fischzuges, den sie gemacht hatten;

11 Und sie brachten die Schiffe ans Land, verließen alles und folgten ihm nach.
Die Heilung eines Aussätzigen
12 Und es begab sich, als er in einer der Städte war, siehe, da war ein Mann voll Aussatz. Und als er Jesus sah, fiel er auf sein Angesicht, bat ihn und sprach: Herr, wenn du willst, so kannst du mich reinigen!
13 Da streckte er die Hand aus, rührte ihn an und sprach: Ich will; sei gereinigt! Und sogleich wich der Aussatz von ihm.
14 Und er befahl ihm, es niemand zu sagen: Geh vielmehr hin, zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, wie Mose befohlen hat, ihnen zum Zeugnis!
15 Aber die Nachricht von ihm breitete sich desto mehr aus; und große Volksmengen kamen zusammen, um ihn zu hören und durch ihn von ihren Krankheiten geheilt zu werden.
16 Er aber hielt sich zurückgezogen an einsamen Orten auf und betete.
Die Heilung eines Gelähmten
17 Und es begab sich an einem Tag, dass er lehrte; und es saßen Pharisäer da und Gesetzeslehrer, die aus allen Dörfern von Galiläa und Judäa und von Jerusalem gekommen waren; und die Kraft des Herrn war da, um sie zu heilen.
18 Und siehe, Männer trugen auf einer Liegematte einen Menschen, der gelähmt war; und sie versuchten ihn hineinzubringen und vor ihn zu legen.
19 Und da sie wegen der Menge keine Möglichkeit fanden, ihn hineinzubringen, stiegen sie auf das Dach und ließen ihn mit der Liegematte durch die Ziegel hinunter in die Mitte vor Jesus.
20 Und als er ihren Glauben sah, sprach er zu ihm: Mensch, deine Sünden sind dir vergeben!
21 Und die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer fingen an, sich Gedanken zu machen, und sprachen: Wer ist dieser, der solche Lästerungen ausspricht? Wer kann Sünden vergeben als nur Gott allein?
22 Da aber Jesus ihre Gedanken erkannte, antwortete er und sprach zu ihnen: Was denkt ihr in euren Herzen?
23 Was ist leichter, zu sagen: Deine Sünden sind dir vergeben!, oder zu sagen: Steh auf und geh umher?
24 Damit ihr aber wisst, dass der Sohn des Menschen[a] Vollmacht hat, auf Erden Sünden zu vergeben — sprach er zu dem Gelähmten: Ich sage dir, steh auf, nimm deine Liegematte und geh heim!
25 Und sofort stand er auf vor ihren Augen, nahm sein Lager, ging heim und pries Gott.
26 Da gerieten alle außer sich vor Staunen, und sie priesen Gott und wurden voll Furcht und sprachen: Wir haben heute Unglaubliches gesehen!
Die Berufung des Levi
27 Danach ging er hinaus und sah einen Zöllner namens Levi an der Zollstätte sitzen und sprach zu ihm: Folge mir nach!
28 Und er verließ alles, stand auf und folgte ihm nach.
29 Und Levi bereitete ihm ein großes Mahl in seinem Haus; und es saß eine große Schar von Zöllnern und anderen, die es mit ihnen hielten, bei Tisch.
30 Und die Schriftgelehrten unter ihnen und die Pharisäer murrten gegen seine Jünger und sprachen: Warum esst und trinkt ihr mit Zöllnern und Sündern?
31 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Nicht die Gesunden brauchen den Arzt, sondern die Kranken.
32 Ich bin nicht gekommen, Gerechte zu berufen, sondern Sünder zur Buße.
Vom Fasten. Gleichnisse vom neuen Flicken und vom neuen Wein
33 Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Warum fasten die Jünger des Johannes so oft und verrichten Gebete, ebenso auch die der Pharisäer; die Deinigen aber essen und trinken?
34 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Könnt ihr die Hochzeitsgäste etwa fasten lassen, solange der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist?
35 Es werden aber Tage kommen, da der Bräutigam von ihnen genommen sein wird; dann werden sie fasten in jenen Tagen.
36 Er sagte aber auch ein Gleichnis zu ihnen: Niemand setzt einen Lappen von einem neuen Kleid auf ein altes Kleid; denn sonst zerreißt er auch das neue, und der Lappen vom neuen passt nicht zu dem alten.
37 Und niemand füllt neuen Wein in alte Schläuche; denn sonst wird der neue Wein die Schläuche zerreißen, und er wird verschüttet, und die Schläuche verderben;
38 sondern neuer Wein soll in neue Schläuche gefüllt werden, so bleiben beide miteinander erhalten.
39 Und niemand, der alten trinkt, will sogleich neuen; denn er spricht: Der alte ist besser!

Jésus y monta et lui demanda de s’éloigner un peu du rivage, puis il s’assit dans le bateau et se mit à enseigner la foule.
4 Quand il eut fini de parler, il dit à Simon : Avance vers le large, en eau profonde, puis vous jetterez vos filets pour pêcher.
5 – Maître, lui répondit Simon, nous avons travaillé toute la nuit et nous n’avons rien pris. Mais, puisque tu me le demandes, je jetterai les filets.
6 Ils les jetèrent et prirent tant de poissons que leurs filets menaçaient de se déchirer. 7 Alors ils firent signe à leurs associés, dans l’autre bateau, de venir les aider. Ceux-ci arrivèrent, et l’on remplit les deux bateaux, au point qu’ils enfonçaient.
8 En voyant cela, Simon Pierre se jeta aux pieds de Jésus et lui dit : Seigneur, éloigne-toi de moi, car je suis un homme pécheur.
9 En effet, il était saisi d’effroi, ainsi que tous ses compagnons, devant la pêche extraordinaire qu’ils venaient de faire. 10 Il en était de même de Jacques et de Jean, fils de Zébédée, les associés de Simon.
Alors Jésus dit à Simon : N’aie pas peur ! A partir de maintenant, ce sont des hommes que tu attraperas.
11 Dès qu’ils eurent ramené leurs bateaux au rivage, ils laissèrent tout et suivirent Jésus.
Jésus guérit des malades et pardonne les péchés(B)
12 Un autre jour, alors qu’il se trouvait dans une ville, survint un homme couvert de lèpre. En voyant Jésus, il se prosterna devant lui, face contre terre, et lui adressa cette prière : Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me rendre pur.
13 Jésus tendit la main et le toucha en disant : Je le veux, sois pur.
Aussitôt, la lèpre le quitta. 14 Alors Jésus lui recommanda de ne le dire à personne.
– Mais, lui dit-il, va te faire examiner par le prêtre et, pour ta purification, offre ce que Moïse a prescrit. Cela leur servira de témoignage[b].
15 La réputation de Jésus se répandait de plus en plus. Aussi, de grandes foules affluaient pour l’entendre et pour se faire guérir de leurs maladies. 16 Mais lui se retirait dans des lieux déserts pour prier.

17 Un jour, il était en train d’enseigner. Des pharisiens et des enseignants de la Loi étaient assis dans l’auditoire. Ils étaient venus de tous les villages de Galilée et de Judée ainsi que de Jérusalem. La puissance du Seigneur se manifestait par les guérisons que Jésus opérait. 18 Voilà que survinrent des hommes qui portaient un paralysé sur un brancard. Ils cherchaient à le faire entrer dans la maison pour le déposer devant Jésus 19 mais ils ne trouvèrent pas moyen de parvenir jusqu’à lui, à cause de la foule. Alors ils montèrent sur le toit, ménagèrent une ouverture dans les tuiles et firent descendre le paralysé sur le brancard en plein milieu de l’assistance, juste devant Jésus.
20 Lorsqu’il vit la foi de ces gens, Jésus dit : Mon ami, tes péchés te sont pardonnés.
21 Les spécialistes de la Loi et les pharisiens se mirent à raisonner et à dire : Qui est donc cet homme qui prononce des paroles blasphématoires ? Qui peut pardonner les péchés, si ce n’est Dieu seul ?
22 Mais Jésus connaissait leurs raisonnements. Il leur dit : Pourquoi raisonnez-vous ainsi en vous-mêmes ? 23 Qu’est-ce qui est le plus facile ? Dire : « Tes péchés te sont pardonnés », ou dire : « Lève-toi et marche » ? 24 Eh bien, vous saurez que le Fils de l’homme a, sur la terre, le pouvoir de pardonner les péchés.
Il déclara au paralysé : Je te l’ordonne : lève-toi, prends ton brancard, et rentre chez toi !
25 Aussitôt, devant tout le monde, l’homme se leva, prit le brancard sur lequel il était couché et s’en alla chez lui en rendant gloire à Dieu.
26 Tous furent saisis de stupéfaction. Ils rendaient gloire à Dieu et, remplis de crainte, disaient : Nous avons vu aujourd’hui des choses extraordinaires !
Jésus est contesté(C)
27 Après cela, Jésus s’en alla et vit, en passant, un collecteur d’impôts nommé Lévi, installé à son poste de péage. Il l’appela en disant : Suis-moi !
28 Cet homme se leva, laissa tout et suivit Jésus.
29 Lévi organisa, dans sa maison, une grande réception en l’honneur de Jésus. De nombreuses personnes étaient à table avec eux, et, parmi elles, des collecteurs d’impôts.
30 Les pharisiens, et les spécialistes de la Loi qui appartenaient à leur parti s’indignaient et interpellèrent les disciples de Jésus : Comment pouvez-vous manger et boire avec ces collecteurs d’impôts, ces pécheurs notoires ?
31 Jésus leur répondit : Ceux qui sont en bonne santé n’ont pas besoin de médecin, ce sont les malades qui en ont besoin. 32 Ce ne sont pas des justes, mais des pécheurs que je suis venu appeler à changer.
Le neuf et l’ancien(D)
33 Certains lui demandèrent : Les disciples de Jean, comme ceux des pharisiens, jeûnent fréquemment et font des prières, alors que les tiens mangent et boivent.
34 Jésus leur répondit : Comment les invités d’une noce peuvent-ils jeûner pendant que le marié est avec eux ? 35 Le temps viendra où celui-ci leur sera enlevé. Alors, en ces jours-là, ils jeûneront.
36 Et il utilisa la parabole suivante : Personne ne coupe un morceau d’un habit neuf pour rapiécer un vieux vêtement. Sinon on abîme l’habit neuf, et la pièce d’étoffe qu’on y aura découpée ne va pas avec le vieil habit. 37 De même, personne ne met dans de vieilles outres du vin nouveau, sinon le vin nouveau les fait éclater, il se répand, et les outres sont perdues. 38 Non, il faut mettre le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves. 39 Bien sûr, quand on a bu du vin vieux, on n’en désire pas du nouveau ; en effet, on se dit : le vieux est meilleur.
