El diablo pone a prueba a Jesús(A)
4 Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del río Jordán, y el Espíritu lo llevó al desierto. 2 Allí estuvo cuarenta días, y el diablo lo puso a prueba. No comió nada durante esos días, así que después sintió hambre. 3 El diablo entonces le dijo:
—Si de veras eres Hijo de Dios, ordena a esta piedra que se convierta en pan.
4 Jesús le contestó:
—La Escritura dice: “No sólo de pan vivirá el hombre.”
5 Luego el diablo lo levantó y, mostrándole en un momento todos los países del mundo, 6 le dijo:
—Yo te daré todo este poder y la grandeza de estos países. Porque yo lo he recibido, y se lo daré al que quiera dárselo. 7 Si te arrodillas y me adoras, todo será tuyo.
8 Jesús le contestó:
—La Escritura dice: “Adora al Señor tu Dios, y sírvele sólo a él.”
9 Después el diablo lo llevó a la ciudad de Jerusalén, lo subió a la parte más alta del templo y le dijo:
—Si de veras eres Hijo de Dios, tírate abajo desde aquí; 10 porque la Escritura dice:
“Dios mandará que sus ángeles
te cuiden y te protejan.
11 Te levantarán con sus manos,
para que no tropieces con piedra alguna.”
12 Jesús le contestó:
—También dice la Escritura: “No pongas a prueba al Señor tu Dios.”
13 Cuando ya el diablo no encontró otra forma de poner a prueba a Jesús, se alejó de él por algún tiempo.
Jesús comienza su actividad en Galilea(B)
14 Jesús volvió a Galilea lleno del poder del Espíritu Santo, y se hablaba de él por toda la tierra de alrededor. 15 Enseñaba en la sinagoga de cada lugar, y todos le alababan.
Jesús en Nazaret(C)
16 Jesús fue a Nazaret, el pueblo donde se había criado. El sábado entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre, y se puso de pie para leer las Escrituras. 17 Le dieron a leer el libro del profeta Isaías, y al abrirlo encontró el lugar donde estaba escrito:
18 «El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí,
porque me ha consagrado
para llevar la buena noticia a los pobres;
me ha enviado a anunciar libertad a los presos
y dar vista a los ciegos;
a poner en libertad a los oprimidos;
19 a anunciar el año favorable del Señor.»
20 Luego Jesús cerró el libro, lo dio al ayudante de la sinagoga y se sentó. Todos los que estaban allí tenían la vista fija en él. 21 Él comenzó a hablar, diciendo:
—Hoy mismo se ha cumplido la Escritura que ustedes acaban de oír.
22 Todos hablaban bien de Jesús y estaban admirados de las cosas tan bellas que decía. Se preguntaban:
—¿No es éste el hijo de José?
23 Jesús les respondió:
—Seguramente ustedes me dirán este refrán: “Médico, cúrate a ti mismo.” Y además me dirán: “Lo que oímos que hiciste en Cafarnaúm, hazlo también aquí en tu propia tierra.”
24 Y siguió diciendo:
—Les aseguro que ningún profeta es bien recibido en su propia tierra. 25 Verdaderamente, había muchas viudas en Israel en tiempos del profeta Elías, cuando no llovió durante tres años y medio y hubo mucha hambre en todo el país; 26 pero Elías no fue enviado a ninguna de las viudas israelitas, sino a una de Sarepta, cerca de la ciudad de Sidón. 27 También había en Israel muchos enfermos de lepra en tiempos del profeta Eliseo, pero no fue sanado ninguno de ellos, sino Naamán, que era de Siria.
28 Al oír esto, todos los que estaban en la sinagoga se enojaron mucho. 29 Se levantaron y echaron del pueblo a Jesús, llevándolo a lo alto del monte sobre el cual el pueblo estaba construido, para arrojarlo abajo desde allí. 30 Pero Jesús pasó por en medio de ellos y se fue.
Un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro(D)
31 Jesús fue a Cafarnaúm, un pueblo de Galilea, y los sábados enseñaba a la gente. 32 Y la gente se admiraba de cómo les enseñaba, porque hablaba con plena autoridad.
33 En la sinagoga había un hombre que tenía un demonio o espíritu impuro, el cual gritó con fuerza:
34 —¡Déjanos! ¿Por qué te metes con nosotros, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo te conozco, y sé que eres el Santo de Dios.
35 Jesús reprendió a aquel demonio, diciéndole:
—¡Cállate y deja a este hombre!
Entonces el demonio arrojó al hombre al suelo delante de todos, y salió de él sin hacerle ningún daño. 36 Todos se asustaron, y se decían unos a otros:
—¿Qué palabras son éstas? Con toda autoridad y poder este hombre ordena a los espíritus impuros que salgan, ¡y ellos salen!
37 Y se hablaba de Jesús por todos los lugares de la región.
Jesús sana a la suegra de Simón(E)
38 Jesús salió de la sinagoga y entró en casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón estaba enferma, con mucha fiebre, y rogaron por ella a Jesús. 39 Jesús se inclinó sobre ella y reprendió a la fiebre, y la fiebre se le quitó. Al momento, ella se levantó y comenzó a atenderlos.
Jesús sana a muchos enfermos(F)
40 Al ponerse el sol, todos los que tenían enfermos de diferentes enfermedades los llevaron a Jesús; y él puso las manos sobre cada uno de ellos, y los sanó. 41 De muchos enfermos también salieron demonios, que gritaban:
—¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!
Pero Jesús reprendía a los demonios y no los dejaba hablar, porque sabían que él era el Mesías.
Jesús anuncia el mensaje en las sinagogas(G)
42 Al amanecer, Jesús salió fuera de la ciudad, a un lugar solitario. Pero la gente lo buscó, y llegaron a donde él estaba. Querían detenerlo, para que no se fuera, 43 pero Jesús les dijo:
—También tengo que anunciar la buena noticia del reino de Dios a los otros pueblos, porque para esto fui enviado.
44 Así iba Jesús anunciando el mensaje en las sinagogas del país de los judíos.

14 A’r Iesu a ddychwelodd trwy nerth yr ysbryd i Galilea: a sôn a aeth amdano ef trwy’r holl fro oddi amgylch. 15 Ac yr oedd efe yn athrawiaethu yn eu synagogau hwynt, ac yn cael anrhydedd gan bawb.
16 Ac efe a ddaeth i Nasareth, lle y magesid ef: ac yn ôl ei arfer, efe a aeth i’r synagog ar y Saboth, ac a gyfododd i fyny i ddarllen. 17 A rhodded ato lyfr y proffwyd Eseias. Ac wedi iddo agoryd y llyfr, efe a gafodd y lle yr oedd yn ysgrifenedig, 18 Ysbryd yr Arglwydd sydd arnaf fi, oherwydd iddo fy eneinio i; i bregethu i’r tlodion yr anfonodd fi, i iacháu’r drylliedig o galon, i bregethu gollyngdod i’r caethion, a chaffaeliad golwg i’r deillion, i ollwng y rhai ysig mewn rhydd-deb, 19 I bregethu blwyddyn gymeradwy yr Arglwydd. 20 Ac wedi iddo gau’r llyfr, a’i roddi i’r gweinidog, efe a eisteddodd. A llygaid pawb oll yn y synagog oedd yn craffu arno. 21 Ac efe a ddechreuodd ddywedyd wrthynt, Heddiw y cyflawnwyd yr ysgrythur hon yn eich clustiau chwi. 22 Ac yr oedd pawb yn dwyn tystiolaeth iddo, ac yr oeddynt yn rhyfeddu am y geiriau grasusol a ddeuai allan o’i enau ef. A hwy a ddywedasant, Onid hwn yw mab Joseff? 23 Ac efe a ddywedodd wrthynt, Yn hollol y dywedwch y ddihareb hon wrthyf, Y meddyg, iachâ di dy hun: y pethau a glywsom ni eu gwneuthur yng Nghapernaum, gwna yma hefyd yn dy wlad dy hun. 24 Ac efe a ddywedodd, Yn wir meddaf i chwi, Nad yw un proffwyd yn gymeradwy yn ei wlad ei hun. 25 Eithr mewn gwirionedd meddaf i chwi, Llawer o wragedd gweddwon oedd yn Israel yn nyddiau Eleias, pan gaewyd y nef dair blynedd a chwe mis, fel y bu newyn mawr trwy’r holl dir; 26 Ac nid at yr un ohonynt yr anfonwyd Eleias, ond i Sarepta yn Sidon, at wraig weddw. 27 A llawer o wahangleifion oedd yn Israel yn amser Eliseus y proffwyd; ac ni lanhawyd yr un ohonynt, ond Naaman y Syriad. 28 A’r rhai oll yn y synagog, wrth glywed y pethau hyn, a lanwyd o ddigofaint; 29 Ac a godasant i fyny, ac a’i bwriasant ef allan o’r ddinas, ac a’i dygasant ef hyd ar ael y bryn yr hwn yr oedd eu dinas wedi ei hadeiladu arno, ar fedr ei fwrw ef bendramwnwgl i lawr. 30 Ond efe, gan fyned trwy eu canol hwynt, a aeth ymaith; 31 Ac a ddaeth i waered i Gapernaum, dinas yng Ngalilea: ac yr oedd yn eu dysgu hwynt ar y dyddiau Saboth. 32 A bu aruthr ganddynt wrth ei athrawiaeth ef: canys ei ymadrodd ef oedd gydag awdurdod.
33 Ac yn y synagog yr oedd dyn â chanddo ysbryd cythraul aflan; ac efe a waeddodd â llef uchel, 34 Gan ddywedyd, Och, beth sydd i ni a wnelom â thi, Iesu o Nasareth? a ddaethost ti i’n difetha ni? Myfi a’th adwaen pwy ydwyt; Sanct Duw. 35 A’r Iesu a’i ceryddodd ef, gan ddywedyd, Distawa, a dos allan ohono. A’r cythraul, wedi ei daflu ef i’r canol, a aeth allan ohono, heb wneuthur dim niwed iddo. 36 A daeth braw arnynt oll: a chyd-ymddiddanasant â’i gilydd, gan ddywedyd, Pa ymadrodd yw hwn! gan ei fod ef trwy awdurdod a nerth yn gorchymyn yr ysbrydion aflan, a hwythau yn myned allan. 37 A sôn amdano a aeth allan i bob man o’r wlad oddi amgylch.
38 A phan gyfododd yr Iesu o’r synagog, efe a aeth i mewn i dŷ Simon. Ac yr oedd chwegr Simon yn glaf o gryd blin: a hwy a atolygasant arno drosti hi. 39 Ac efe a safodd uwch ei phen hi, ac a geryddodd y cryd; a’r cryd a’i gadawodd hi: ac yn y fan hi a gyfododd, ac a wasanaethodd arnynt hwy.
40 A phan fachludodd yr haul, pawb a’r oedd ganddynt rai cleifion o amryw glefydau, a’u dygasant hwy ato ef; ac efe a roddes ei ddwylo ar bob un ohonynt, ac a’u hiachaodd hwynt. 41 A’r cythreuliaid hefyd a aethant allan o lawer dan lefain a dywedyd, Ti yw Crist, Mab Duw. Ac efe a’u ceryddodd hwynt, ac ni adawai iddynt ddywedyd y gwyddent mai efe oedd y Crist. 42 Ac wedi ei myned hi yn ddydd, efe a aeth allan, ac a gychwynnodd i le diffaith: a’r bobloedd a’i ceisiasant ef; a hwy a ddaethant hyd ato, ac a’i hataliasant ef rhag myned ymaith oddi wrthynt. 43 Ac efe a ddywedodd wrthynt, Yn wir y mae yn rhaid i mi bregethu teyrnas Dduw i ddinasoedd eraill hefyd: canys i hyn y’m danfonwyd. 44 Ac yr oedd efe yn pregethu yn synagogau Galilea.

Tentación de Jesús(A)
4 Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto. 2 Allí estuvo cuarenta días y fue tentado por el diablo. No comió nada durante esos días, pasados los cuales tuvo hambre.
3 —Si eres el Hijo de Dios —propuso el diablo—, ordénale a esta piedra que se convierta en pan.
4 Jesús respondió:
—Escrito está: “No solo de pan vive el hombre”.[a]
5 Entonces el diablo lo llevó a un lugar alto y le mostró en un instante todos los reinos del mundo.
6 —Sobre estos reinos y todo su esplendor —le dijo—, te daré la autoridad, porque a mí me ha sido entregada y puedo dársela a quien yo quiera. 7 Así que, si me adoras, todo será tuyo.
8 Jesús contestó:
—Escrito está: “Adora al Señor tu Dios y sírvele solamente a él”.[b]
9 Luego el diablo lo llevó a Jerusalén e hizo que se pusiera de pie sobre la parte más alta del Templo y le dijo:
—Si eres el Hijo de Dios, tírate abajo desde aquí. 10 Pues escrito está:
»“Ordenará que sus ángeles te protejan con sumo cuidado.
11 En sus manos te sostendrán
para que no tropieces con piedra alguna”.[c]
12 —Está dicho: “No pongas a prueba al Señor tu Dios”[d] —respondió Jesús.
13 Así que el diablo, habiendo agotado todo recurso de tentación, lo dejó hasta otra oportunidad.
Rechazan a Jesús en Nazaret
14 Jesús regresó a Galilea en el poder del Espíritu y se extendió su fama por toda aquella región. 15 Enseñaba en las sinagogas y todos lo admiraban.
16 Fue a Nazaret, donde se había criado, y un sábado entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre. Se levantó para hacer la lectura 17 y le entregaron el libro del profeta Isaías. Al desenrollarlo, encontró el lugar donde estaba escrito:
18 «El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí,
por cuanto me ha ungido
para anunciar buenas noticias a los pobres.
Me ha enviado a proclamar libertad a los cautivos
y dar vista a los ciegos,
a poner en libertad a los oprimidos,
19 a pregonar el año del favor del Señor».[e]
20 Luego enrolló el libro, se lo devolvió al ayudante y se sentó. Todos los que estaban en la sinagoga lo miraban detenidamente 21 y él comenzó a hablarles: «Hoy se cumple esta Escritura en presencia de ustedes».
22 Todos dieron su aprobación, impresionados por las hermosas palabras[f] que salían de su boca. «¿No es este el hijo de José?», se preguntaban.
23 Jesús continuó: «Seguramente ustedes me van a citar el proverbio: “¡Médico, cúrate a ti mismo! Haz aquí en tu tierra lo que hemos oído que hiciste en Capernaúm”. 24 Pues bien, les aseguro que a ningún profeta lo aceptan en su propia tierra. 25 No cabe duda de que en tiempos de Elías, cuando el cielo se cerró por tres años y medio, de manera que hubo una gran hambre en toda la tierra, muchas viudas vivían en Israel. 26 Sin embargo, Elías no fue enviado a ninguna de ellas, sino a una viuda de Sarepta, en los alrededores de Sidón. 27 Así mismo, había en Israel muchos con alguna enfermedad de la piel en tiempos del profeta Eliseo, pero ninguno de ellos fue sanado, sino Naamán el sirio».
28 Al oír esto, todos los que estaban en la sinagoga se enfurecieron. 29 Se levantaron, lo expulsaron del pueblo y lo llevaron hasta la cumbre de la colina sobre la que estaba construido el pueblo, para tirarlo por el precipicio. 30 Pero él pasó por en medio de ellos y se fue.
Jesús expulsa a un espíritu maligno(B)
31 Jesús bajó a Capernaúm, un pueblo de Galilea, y el día sábado enseñaba a la gente. 32 Estaban asombrados de su enseñanza, porque hablaba con autoridad.
33 Había en la sinagoga un hombre que estaba poseído por un espíritu maligno, quien gritó con todas sus fuerzas:
34 —¡Ah! ¿Por qué te entrometes, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres tú: ¡el Santo de Dios!
35 —¡Cállate! —lo reprendió Jesús—. ¡Sal de ese hombre!
Entonces el demonio derribó al hombre en medio de la gente y salió de él sin hacerle ningún daño.
36 Todos se asustaron y se decían unos a otros: «¿Qué clase de palabra es esta? ¡Con autoridad y poder da órdenes a los espíritus malignos y salen!». 37 Y su fama se extendió por todo aquel lugar.
Jesús sana a muchos enfermos(C)(D)
38 Cuando Jesús salió de la sinagoga, fue a casa de Simón, cuya suegra estaba enferma con una fiebre muy alta. Pidieron a Jesús que la ayudara, 39 así que se inclinó sobre ella, reprendió a la fiebre y esta se le quitó. Ella se levantó enseguida y comenzó a servirles.
40 Al ponerse el sol, la gente llevó a Jesús todos los que padecían de diversas enfermedades; él puso las manos sobre cada uno de ellos y los sanó. 41 Además, de muchas personas salían demonios que gritaban: «¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!». Pero él los reprendía y no los dejaba hablar porque sabían que él era el Cristo.
42 Cuando amaneció, Jesús salió y se fue a un lugar solitario. La gente andaba buscándolo y, cuando llegaron adonde él estaba, procuraban detenerlo para que no se fuera. 43 Pero él les dijo: «Es preciso que anuncie también a los demás pueblos las buenas noticias del reino de Dios, porque para esto fui enviado».
44 Y siguió predicando en las sinagogas de Judea.[g]

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness(A)
4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit,(B) left the Jordan(C) and was led by the Spirit(D) into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days(E) he was tempted[a] by the devil.(F) He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God,(G) tell this stone to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]”(H)
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.(I) 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me,(J) and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”(K)
9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
11 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]”(L)
12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]”(M)
13 When the devil had finished all this tempting,(N) he left him(O) until an opportune time.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
14 Jesus returned to Galilee(P) in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.(Q) 15 He was teaching in their synagogues,(R) and everyone praised him.
16 He went to Nazareth,(S) where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue,(T) as was his custom. He stood up to read,(U) 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,(V)
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news(W) to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f](X)
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.(Y) The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled(Z) in your hearing.”
22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.(AA)
23 Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown(AB) what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”(AC)
24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.(AD) 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(AE) 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(AF) 27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy[g] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”(AG)
28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town,(AH) and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.(AI)
Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit(AJ)
31 Then he went down to Capernaum,(AK) a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. 32 They were amazed at his teaching,(AL) because his words had authority.(AM)
33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, 34 “Go away! What do you want with us,(AN) Jesus of Nazareth?(AO) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are(AP)—the Holy One of God!”(AQ)
35 “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly.(AR) “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
36 All the people were amazed(AS) and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority(AT) and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!” 37 And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.(AU)
Jesus Heals Many(AV)(AW)
38 Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. 39 So he bent over her and rebuked(AX) the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
40 At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one,(AY) he healed them.(AZ) 41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!”(BA) But he rebuked(BB) them and would not allow them to speak,(BC) because they knew he was the Messiah.
42 At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. 43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God(BD) to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” 44 And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.(BE)
