Rahab Hides the Spies

2 And Joshua the son of Nun ^(A)sent^[a] two men secretly from Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” And they went and came into the house of ^(B)a prostitute whose name was ^(C)Rahab and lodged there.

³¹ By faith ^(A)Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she ^(B)had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

²⁵ And in the same way was not also ^(A)Rahab the prostitute justified by works ^(B)when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?

⁵ and Salmon the father of Boaz by ^(A)Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse,

25 While Israel lived in ^(A)Shittim, ^(B)the people began to whore with the daughters of Moab.

¹⁷ Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan and said to them, “Go up into ^(A)the Negeb and go up into ^(B)the hill country, ¹⁸ and see what the land is, and whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many, ¹⁹ and whether the land that they dwell in is good or bad, and whether the cities that they dwell in are camps or strongholds, ²⁰ and whether the land is ^(C)rich or poor, and whether there are trees in it or not. ^(D)Be of good courage and bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes.

²¹ So they went up and spied out the land ^(E)from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, ^(F)near Lebo-hamath.

⁵ For you may be sure of this, that ^(A)everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (^(B)that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Israel Crosses the Jordan

3 Then Joshua rose early in the morning and they set out ^(A)from Shittim. And they came to the Jordan, he and all the people of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.
