^2 (A)“If they dig into Sheol,
    from there shall my hand take them;
^(B)if they climb up to heaven,
    from there I will bring them down.

²¹ On that day the Lord will punish
    the host of heaven, in heaven,
    and ^(A)the kings of the earth, on the earth.
^22 (B)They will be gathered together
    as prisoners in a pit;
they will be shut up in a prison,
    and after many days ^(C)they will be punished.

²⁰ In that day ^(C)mankind will cast away
    their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
which they made for themselves to worship,
    to the moles and to the ^(D)bats,
^21 (E)to enter the caverns of the rocks
    and the clefts of the cliffs,
from before the terror of the Lord,
    and from the splendor of his majesty,
    ^(F)when he rises to terrify the earth.
^22 (G)Stop regarding man
    ^(H)in whose nostrils is breath,
    for of what account is he?

^12 (D)For the Lord of hosts has a day
    against all that is proud and lofty,
    against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;

^7 (A)Where shall I go from your Spirit?
    Or where ^(B)shall I flee from your presence?
^8 (C)If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
    ^(D)If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
⁹ If I take the wings of the morning
    and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
¹⁰ even there your hand shall ^(E)lead me,
    and your right hand shall hold me.

⁴ For behold, ^(A)the kings assembled;
    they came on together.
⁵ As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
    they were in panic; they took to flight.
^6 (B)Trembling took hold of them there,
    anguish ^(C)as of a woman in labor.
