¹³ Therefore when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and ^(A)sat down on the judgment seat at a place called ^[a]The Stone Pavement, but ^(B)in ^[b]Hebrew, Gabbatha.

²¹ And on an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel and sitting on the judgment seat, began delivering an address to them.

¹² But while Gallio was ^(A)proconsul of ^(B)Achaia, ^(C)the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before ^(D)the judgment seat,

¹⁶ And he drove them away from ^(A)the judgment seat. ¹⁷ And they all took hold of ^(B)Sosthenes, ^(C)the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of ^(D)the judgment seat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of these things.

Priscilla, Aquila, and Apollos

¹⁸ And Paul, having remained many days longer, ^(E)took leave of ^(F)the brothers and put out to sea for ^(G)Syria, and with him were ^(H)Priscilla and ^(I)Aquila. In ^(J)Cenchreae ^[a]he ^(K)had his hair cut, for he was keeping a vow. ¹⁹ And they arrived at ^(L)Ephesus, and he left them there. Now he himself entered ^(M)the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. ²⁰ When they asked him to stay for a longer time, he did not consent, ²¹ but ^(N)taking leave of them and saying, “I will return to you again ^(O)if God wills,” he set sail from ^(P)Ephesus.

²² And when he had landed at ^(Q)Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and went down to ^(R)Antioch. ²³ And having spent some time there, he left and passed successively through the ^(S)Galatian region and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

²⁴ Now a Jew named ^(T)Apollos, an ^(U)Alexandrian by birth, ^[b]an eloquent man, arrived at ^(V)Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures. ²⁵ This man had been instructed in ^(W)the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with ^(X)the baptism of John; ²⁶ and ^[c]he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when ^(Y)Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him ^(Z)the way of God more accurately. ²⁷ And when he wanted to go across to ^(AA)Achaia, ^(AB)the brothers encouraged him and wrote to ^(AC)the disciples to welcome him; and when he had arrived, he greatly ^[d]helped those who had believed through grace, ²⁸ for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating ^(AD)by the Scriptures that ^(AE)Jesus is the ^[e]Christ.

⁶ And after he had spent not more than eight or ten days among them, he went down to ^(A)Caesarea, and on the next day he took his seat on ^(B)the judgment seat and ordered Paul to be brought.

¹⁰ But Paul said, “I am standing before Caesar’s ^(A)judgment seat, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also very well know.

¹⁷ So after they had assembled here, I did not delay, but on the next day took my seat on ^(A)the judgment seat and ordered the man to be brought before me.
