Eliphaz Says the Innocent Do Not Suffer
4 Then Eliphaz the Temanite responded,
2 “If one ventures a word with you, will you become impatient?
But (A)who can refrain [a]from speaking?
3 Behold, (B)you have taught many,
And you have strengthened weak hands.
4 Your words have helped the stumbling to stand,
And you have strengthened [b]feeble knees.
5 But now it comes to you, and you (C)are impatient;
It (D)touches you, and you are horrified.
6 Is your [c](E)fear of God not (F)your confidence,
And the integrity of your ways your hope?
7 “Remember now, (G)who ever perished being innocent?
Or where were the upright destroyed?
8 According to what I have seen, (H)those who [d]plow wrongdoing
And those who sow trouble harvest it.
9 By (I)the breath of God they perish,
And (J)by the [e]blast of His anger they come to an end.
10 The (K)roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion,
And the teeth of the young lions are broken out.
11 The (L)lion perishes for lack of prey,
And the (M)cubs of the lioness are scattered.
12 “Now a word (N)was brought to me secretly,
And my ear received a (O)whisper of it.
13 Amid disquieting (P)thoughts from visions of the night,
When deep sleep falls on people,
14 Dread came upon me, and trembling,
And made [f]all my bones shake.
15 Then a [g]spirit passed by my face;
The hair of my flesh stood up.
16 Something was standing still, but I could not recognize its appearance;
A form was before my eyes;
There was silence, then I heard a voice:
17 ‘Can (Q)mankind be righteous [h]before God?
Can a man be pure [i]before his (R)Maker?
18 (S)He puts no trust even in His servants;
And He accuses His angels of error.
19 How much more those who live in (T)houses of clay,
Whose (U)foundation is in the dust,
Who are crushed before the moth!
20 (V)Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces;
Unregarded, they (W)perish forever.
21 Is their (X)tent-cord not pulled out within them?
They die, yet (Y)without wisdom.’

Eliphaz Says the Innocent Do Not Suffer
4 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 “If one tries a word with you, will you become weary?
But (A)who can hold back [a]from speaking?
3 Behold, (B)you have disciplined many,
And you have strengthened limp hands.
4 Your words have [b]helped the stumbling to stand,
And you have encouraged [c]feeble knees.
5 But now it has come to you, and you (C)are impatient;
It (D)touches you, and you are dismayed.

7 “Remember now, (G)who ever perished being innocent?

The hair of my flesh bristled up.

A form was before my eyes;
There was silence, then I heard a voice:
17 ‘Can (Q)mankind be right [f]before God?
Can a man be pure [g]before his (R)Maker?
18 (S)He puts no trust even in His slaves;
And against His angels He charges error.
19 How much more those who dwell in (T)houses of clay,
Whose (U)foundation is in the dust,
Who are crushed before the moth!
20 (V)Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces;

They die, yet (Y)without wisdom.’

Eliifas
4 Markaasaa Eliifas kii reer Teemaan u jawaabay, oo wuxuu ku yidhi,
2 Mid hadduu isku dayo inuu kula hadlo, ma ka xumaanaysaa?
Laakiinse bal yaa hadal iska celin kara?
3 Bal eeg, adigu kuwa badan wax baad bartay,
Oo gacmihii itaalka darnaana waad xoogaysay.
4 Erayadaadu way tiiriyeen kii sii dhacayay,
Oo jilbihii tabarta yaraana waad adkaysay.
5 Laakiinse haatan dhibaatadu aday kuu timid, oo waad taag yaraanaysaa,
Wayna ku soo gaadhay, oo waad dhibaataysan tahay.
6 War kalsoonidaadu sow ma aha cabsida aad Ilaahaaga ka cabsato,
Rajadaaduse sow ma aha daacadnimada jidadkaaga?
7 Waan ku baryayaaye bal wax xusuuso, bal yaa weligiis halligmay isagoo aan xaq qabin?
Amase xaggee baa mid qumman lagu halaagay?
8 Sidaan anigu arkay, weligoodba kuwii xumaan tacbadaa,
Oo belaayo beertaa, isla waxaasay goostaan.
9 Iyagu waxay ku baabba'aan Ilaah neeftiisa,
Oo waxay ku dhammaadaan afuufidda cadhadiisa.
10 Libaaxa cidiisii, iyo aarka cadhaysan codkiisii,
Iyo libaaxyada yaryar miciyahoodiiba waa jajabaan.
11 Libaaxa duqa ahu ugaadhla'aanta buu u bakhtiyaa,
Oo goosha dhasheediina way kala firdhaan.
12 Haddaba war baa qarsoodi la iigu keenay,
Oo dhegtayduna faqiisay qabsatay.
13 Habeenkii markay riyooyinku fikirro kiciyaan,
Oo ay dadku hurdo weyn ku fogaadaan,
14 Ayaa cabsi iyo gariiru igu dhacay,
Oo lafahayga oo dhammuna way wada ruxruxmadeen.
15 Markaasaa ruux wejigayga soo hor maray,
Oo timihii jidhkayguna waa soo wada istaageen.
16 Oo isagii wuu joogsaday, laakiinse muuqashadiisii waan kala saari waayay;
Muuqaal baa indhahayga hortooda joogay;
Intii mudda ah aamusnaan baa jirtay, dabadeedna waxaan maqlay cod leh,
17 War nin dhiman karaa miyuu Ilaah ka sii caaddilsanaan karaa?
Mase nin baa ka sii daahirsanaan kara kii isaga abuuray?
18 Bal eeg, isagu addoommadiisa iskuma halleeyo;
Oo malaa'igihiisana nacasnimuu ku eedeeyaa.
19 Intee ka sii badan buu eedeeyaa kuwa guryaha dhoobada ah deggan,
Oo aasaaskoodii boodhka ku jiro,
Oo sida balanbaallis u burbura!
20 Subaxdii iyo fiidkii inta ka dhex leh ayay baabba'aan;
Weligoodba way halligmaan iyadoo aan ciduna ka fikirayn.
21 Xadhkaha teendhooyinkoodii sow lama siibo?
Way dhintaan iyagoo aan xigmad lahayn.
