⁶ The realm of the dead^(A) is naked before God;
    Destruction^[a](B) lies uncovered.^(C)

¹¹ Death and Destruction^[a] lie open before the Lord^(A)—
    how much more do human hearts!^(B)

⁸ If I go up to the heavens,^(A) you are there;
    if I make my bed^(B) in the depths, you are there.

² Though they dig down to the depths below,^(A)
    from there my hand will take them.
Though they climb up to the heavens above,^(B)
    from there I will bring them down.^(C)

²² Destruction^[a](A) and Death^(B) say,
    “Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.”

⁹ The realm of the dead^(A) below is all astir
    to meet you at your coming;
it rouses the spirits of the departed^(B) to greet you—
    all those who were leaders^(C) in the world;
it makes them rise from their thrones—
    all those who were kings over the nations.^(D)

¹¹ If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”

¹⁰ Do you show your wonders to the dead?
    Do their spirits rise up and praise you?^(A)
