God Helps His Servant
50 Thus says the Lord,
“Where is the (A)certificate of divorce
By which I have (B)sent your mother away?
Or to whom of My creditors did I (C)sell you?
Behold, you were sold for your (D)iniquities,
And for your (E)transgressions your mother (F)was sent away.
2 “Why was there (G)no man when I came?
When I called, why was there none to answer?
Is My (H)hand so short that it cannot ransom?
Or have I no power to deliver?
Behold, I (I)dry up the sea with My rebuke,
I (J)make the rivers a wilderness;
Their fish stink for lack of water
And die of thirst.
3 “I (K)clothe the heavens with blackness
And make sackcloth their covering.”
4 The Lord [a]God has given Me the tongue of (L)disciples,
That I may know how to (M)sustain the weary one with a word.
He awakens Me (N)morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
5 The Lord God has (O)opened My ear;
And I was (P)not disobedient
Nor did I turn back.
6 I (Q)gave My back to those who strike Me,
And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard;
I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.
7 For the Lord God (R)helps Me,
Therefore, I am (S)not disgraced;
Therefore, I have set My face like (T)flint,
And I know that I will not be ashamed.
8 He who (U)vindicates Me is near;
Who will contend with Me?
Let us (V)stand up to each other;
Who has a case against Me?
Let him draw near to Me.
9 Behold, (W)the Lord God helps Me;
(X)Who is he who condemns Me?
Behold, (Y)they will all wear out like a garment;
The moth will eat them.
10 Who is among you that fears the Lord,
That obeys the voice of His (Z)servant,
That (AA)walks in darkness and has no light?
Let him (AB)trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.
11 Behold, all you who (AC)kindle a fire,
Who [b]encircle yourselves with firebrands,
Walk in the light of your fire
And among the brands you have set ablaze.
This you will have from My hand:
You will (AD)lie down in torment.

50 Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Où est la lettre de divorce par laquelle j'ai répudié votre mère? Ou bien, auquel de mes créanciers vous ai-je vendus? Voici, c'est à cause de vos iniquités que vous avez été vendus, Et c'est à cause de vos péchés que votre mère a été répudiée.
2 Je suis venu: pourquoi n'y avait-il personne? J'ai appelé: pourquoi personne n'a-t-il répondu? Ma main est-elle trop courte pour racheter? N'ai-je pas assez de force pour délivrer? Par ma menace, je dessèche la mer, Je réduis les fleuves en désert; Leurs poissons se corrompent, faute d'eau, Et ils périssent de soif.
3 Je revêts les cieux d'obscurité, Et je fais d'un sac leur couverture.
4 Le Seigneur, l'Éternel, m'a donné une langue exercée, Pour que je sache soutenir par la parole celui qui est abattu; Il éveille, chaque matin, il éveille mon oreille, Pour que j'écoute comme écoutent des disciples.
5 Le Seigneur, l'Éternel, m'a ouvert l'oreille, Et je n'ai point résisté, Je ne me suis point retiré en arrière.
6 J'ai livré mon dos à ceux qui me frappaient, Et mes joues à ceux qui m'arrachaient la barbe; Je n'ai pas dérobé mon visage Aux ignominies et aux crachats.
7 Mais le Seigneur, l'Éternel, m'a secouru; C'est pourquoi je n'ai point été déshonoré, C'est pourquoi j'ai rendu mon visage semblable à un caillou, Sachant que je ne serais point confondu.
8 Celui qui me justifie est proche: Qui disputera contre moi? Comparaissons ensemble! Qui est mon adversaire? Qu'il s'avance vers moi!
9 Voici, le Seigneur, l'Éternel, me secourra: Qui me condamnera? Voici, ils tomberont tous en lambeaux comme un vêtement, La teigne les dévorera.
10 Quiconque parmi vous craint l'Éternel, Qu'il écoute la voix de son serviteur! Quiconque marche dans l'obscurité et manque de lumière, Qu'il se confie dans le nom de l'Éternel, Et qu'il s'appuie sur son Dieu!
11 Voici, vous tous qui allumez un feu, Et qui êtes armés de torches, Allez au milieu de votre feu et de vos torches enflammées! C'est par ma main que ces choses vous arriveront; Vous vous coucherez dans la douleur.

Israel’s Sin and the Servant’s Obedience
50 This is what the Lord says:
“Where is your mother’s certificate of divorce(A)
with which I sent her away?
Or to which of my creditors
did I sell(B) you?
Because of your sins(C) you were sold;(D)
because of your transgressions your mother was sent away.
2 When I came, why was there no one?
When I called, why was there no one to answer?(E)
Was my arm too short(F) to deliver you?
Do I lack the strength(G) to rescue you?
By a mere rebuke(H) I dry up the sea,(I)
I turn rivers into a desert;(J)
their fish rot for lack of water
and die of thirst.
3 I clothe the heavens with darkness(K)
and make sackcloth(L) its covering.”
4 The Sovereign Lord(M) has given me a well-instructed tongue,(N)
to know the word that sustains the weary.(O)
He wakens me morning by morning,(P)
wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.(Q)
5 The Sovereign Lord(R) has opened my ears;(S)
I have not been rebellious,(T)
I have not turned away.
6 I offered my back to those who beat(U) me,
my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard;(V)
I did not hide my face
from mocking and spitting.(W)
7 Because the Sovereign Lord(X) helps(Y) me,
I will not be disgraced.
Therefore have I set my face like flint,(Z)
and I know I will not be put to shame.(AA)
8 He who vindicates(AB) me is near.(AC)
Who then will bring charges against me?(AD)
Let us face each other!(AE)
Who is my accuser?
Let him confront me!
9 It is the Sovereign Lord(AF) who helps(AG) me.
Who will condemn(AH) me?
They will all wear out like a garment;
the moths(AI) will eat them up.
10 Who among you fears(AJ) the Lord
and obeys(AK) the word of his servant?(AL)
Let the one who walks in the dark,
who has no light,(AM)
trust(AN) in the name of the Lord
and rely on their God.
11 But now, all you who light fires
and provide yourselves with flaming torches,(AO)
go, walk in the light of your fires(AP)
and of the torches you have set ablaze.
This is what you shall receive from my hand:(AQ)
You will lie down in torment.(AR)

50 (A)Bw’ati bw’ayogera Mukama nti,
“Ebbaluwa egoba nnyammwe, kwe namugobera eri ludda wa?
Oba nabatunda eri ani?
Mwatundibwa lwa bikolwa byammwe ebibi;
olw’obutali butuukirivu bwammwe nnyammwe kyeyava agobwa.
2 (B)Lwaki bwe najja tewaali muntu n’omu?
Bwe nakoowoola lwaki tewaali muntu n’omu annyanukula?
Omukono gwange gwali mumpi nnyo okukununula?
Mbuliddwa amaanyi agakununula?
Laba nnyinza okwogera obwogezi ennyanja n’ekalira,
emigga ne ngifuula eddungu,
ebyennyanja byamu ne bifa ennyonta,
ne bivunda olw’okubulwa amazzi.
3 (C)Nyambaza eggulu,
n’ekizikiza ne nkiwa ebibukutu okulibikka.”
4 (D)Mukama Ayinzabyonna ampadde olulimi
oluyigirizibbwa, mmanye ebigambo ebigumya abo abakooye.
Anzukusa buli nkya,
buli nkya anzukusa okuwulira by’anjigiriza.
5 (E)Mukama Ayinzabyonna azibudde okutu kwange
ne siba mujeemu.
Sizzeeyo mabega.
6 (F)N’awaayo omugongo gwange eri abankuba,
n’amatama gange eri abo abankunyuulako ekirevu.
Saakweka maaso gange eri abo abansekerera
n’eri abo abanfujjira amalusu.
7 (G)Kubanga Mukama Ayinzabyonna anyamba
kyennaava siswazibwa.
Noolwekyo kyenvudde n’egumya
era mmanyi nti siriswazibwa.
8 (H)Kubanga oyo ampolereza ali kumpi.
Ani alinnumiriza omusango?
Twolekagane obwenyi.
Ani annumiriza?
Ajje annumbe.
9 (I)Mukama Ayinzabyonna y’anyamba.
Ani alinsalira omusango?
Bonna balikaddiwa bayulike ng’ekyambalo;
ennyenje ziribalya.
10 (J)Ani ku mmwe atya Mukama,
agondera ekigambo ky’omuweereza we?
Oyo atambulira mu kizikiza,
atalina kitangaala
yeesige erinnya lya Mukama
era yeesigame ku Katonda we.
11 (K)Naye mmwe mwenna abakoleeza omuliro,
ne mwekoleereza ettaala z’omuliro,
mutambulire mu kitangaala ky’omuliro gwammwe,
ne mu kitangaala kye ttaala ze mukoleezeza.
Naye kino kye munaafuna okuva mu mukono gwange;
muligalamira mu nnaku.
