A Song of Salvation
26 In (A)that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:
“We have a strong city;
(B)God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks.
2 (C)Open the gates,
That the righteous nation which [a]keeps the truth may enter in.
3 You will keep him in perfect (D)peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
(E)For in Yah, the Lord, is [b]everlasting strength.
5 For He brings [c]down those who dwell on high,
(F)The lofty city;
He lays it low,
He lays it low to the ground,
He brings it down to the dust.
6 The foot shall [d]tread it down—
The feet of the poor
And the steps of the needy.”
7 The way of the just is uprightness;
(G)O Most Upright,
You [e]weigh the path of the just.
8 Yes, (H)in the way of Your judgments,
O Lord, we have (I)waited for You;
The desire of our soul is for Your name
And for the remembrance of You.
9 (J)With my soul I have desired You in the night,
Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early;
For when Your judgments are in the earth,
The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
10 (K)Let grace be shown to the wicked,
Yet he will not learn righteousness;
In (L)the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly,
And will not behold the majesty of the Lord.
11 Lord, when Your hand is lifted up, (M)they will not see.
But they will see and be ashamed
For [f]their envy of people;
Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.
12 Lord, You will establish peace for us,
For You have also done all our works [g]in us.
13 O Lord our God, (N)masters besides You
Have had dominion over us;
But by You only we make mention of Your name.
14 They are dead, they will not live;
They are deceased, they will not rise.
Therefore You have punished and destroyed them,
And made all their memory to (O)perish.
15 You have increased the nation, O Lord,
You have (P)increased the nation;
You are glorified;
You have expanded all the [h]borders of the land.
16 Lord, (Q)in trouble they have visited You,
They poured out a prayer when Your chastening was upon them.
17 As (R)a woman with child
Is in pain and cries out in her [i]pangs,
When she draws near the time of her delivery,
So have we been in Your sight, O Lord.
18 We have been with child, we have been in pain;
We have, as it were, [j]brought forth wind;
We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth,
Nor have (S)the inhabitants of the world fallen.
19 (T)Your dead shall live;
Together with [k]my dead body they shall arise.
(U)Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust;
For your dew is like the dew of herbs,
And the earth shall cast out the dead.
Take Refuge from the Coming Judgment
20 Come, my people, (V)enter your chambers,
And shut your doors behind you;
Hide yourself, as it were, (W)for a little moment,
Until the indignation is past.
21 For behold, the Lord (X)comes out of His place
To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity;
The earth will also disclose her [l]blood,
And will no more cover her slain.

Cántico de confianza en la protección de Jehová
26 En aquel día cantarán este cántico en tierra de Judá: Fuerte ciudad tenemos; salvación puso Dios por muros y antemuro. 2 Abrid las puertas, y entrará la gente justa, guardadora de verdades. 3 Tú guardarás en completa paz a aquel cuyo pensamiento en ti persevera; porque en ti ha confiado. 4 Confiad en Jehová perpetuamente, porque en Jehová el Señor está la fortaleza de los siglos. 5 Porque derribó a los que moraban en lugar sublime; humilló a la ciudad exaltada, la humilló hasta la tierra, la derribó hasta el polvo. 6 La hollará pie, los pies del afligido, los pasos de los menesterosos.
7 El camino del justo es rectitud; tú, que eres recto, pesas el camino del justo. 8 También en el camino de tus juicios, oh Jehová, te hemos esperado; tu nombre y tu memoria son el deseo de nuestra alma. 9 Con mi alma te he deseado en la noche, y en tanto que me dure el espíritu dentro de mí, madrugaré a buscarte; porque luego que hay juicios tuyos en la tierra, los moradores del mundo aprenden justicia. 10 Se mostrará piedad al malvado, y no aprenderá justicia; en tierra de rectitud hará iniquidad, y no mirará a la majestad de Jehová. 11 Jehová, tu mano está alzada, pero ellos no ven; verán al fin, y se avergonzarán los que envidian a tu pueblo; y a tus enemigos fuego los consumirá.(A) 12 Jehová, tú nos darás paz, porque también hiciste en nosotros todas nuestras obras. 13 Jehová Dios nuestro, otros señores fuera de ti se han enseñoreado de nosotros; pero en ti solamente nos acordaremos de tu nombre. 14 Muertos son, no vivirán; han fallecido, no resucitarán; porque los castigaste, y destruiste y deshiciste todo su recuerdo. 15 Aumentaste el pueblo, oh Jehová, aumentaste el pueblo; te hiciste glorioso; ensanchaste todos los confines de la tierra.
16 Jehová, en la tribulación te buscaron; derramaron oración cuando los castigaste. 17 Como la mujer encinta cuando se acerca el alumbramiento gime y da gritos en sus dolores, así hemos sido delante de ti, oh Jehová. 18 Concebimos, tuvimos dolores de parto, dimos a luz viento; ninguna liberación hicimos en la tierra, ni cayeron los moradores del mundo. 19 Tus muertos vivirán; sus cadáveres resucitarán. ¡Despertad y cantad, moradores del polvo! porque tu rocío es cual rocío de hortalizas, y la tierra dará sus muertos.
20 Anda, pueblo mío, entra en tus aposentos, cierra tras ti tus puertas; escóndete un poquito, por un momento, en tanto que pasa la indignación. 21 Porque he aquí que Jehová sale de su lugar para castigar al morador de la tierra por su maldad contra él; y la tierra descubrirá la sangre derramada sobre ella, y no encubrirá ya más a sus muertos.

26 En aquel día(A) se cantará este cántico en la tierra de Judá:
«Ciudad fuerte(B) tenemos;
Para protección[a] Él pone murallas y baluartes(C).
2 -»Abran las puertas(D) para que pueda entrar la nación justa(E),
La que permanece fiel[b].
3 -»Al de firme propósito guardarás en perfecta paz(F),
Porque en Ti confía.
4 -»Confíen en el Señor para siempre(G),
Porque en Dios[c] el Señor, tenemos una Roca eterna(H).
5 -»Porque Él ha abatido a los que moran en lo alto, a la ciudad inconmovible;
La humilla, la humilla hasta la tierra, la derriba hasta el polvo(I),
6 Y la pisotearán los pies(J),
Los pies de los afligidos(K), las pisadas de los desvalidos».
7 ¶La senda del justo es rectitud(L).
Tú, que eres recto, allana el sendero del justo(M).
8 Ciertamente, siguiendo la senda de Tus juicios(N),
Oh Señor, te hemos esperado.
Tu nombre(O) y Tu memoria(P) son el anhelo del alma.
9 En la noche te desea mi alma[d](Q),
En verdad mi espíritu dentro de mí te busca[e](R) con diligencia.
Porque cuando la tierra tiene conocimiento de Tus juicios,
Aprenden justicia los habitantes del mundo(S).
10 Aunque se le muestre piedad al impío,
No aprende justicia(T).
Obra injustamente en tierra de rectitud,
Y no ve la majestad del Señor(U).
11 ¶Oh Señor, levantada está Tu mano, mas ellos no la ven(V).
Que vean Tu celo(W) por el pueblo y se avergüencen.
Ciertamente el fuego devorará a Tus enemigos[f](X).
12 Señor, Tú establecerás paz para nosotros(Y),
Ya que también todas nuestras obras Tú las hiciste por nosotros.
13 Oh Señor, Dios nuestro, otros señores fuera de Ti nos han gobernado(Z),
Pero solo en Ti confesamos[g] Tu nombre(AA).
14 Los muertos no vivirán, los espíritus[h] no se levantarán(AB),
Pues los castigaste[i] y destruiste(AC),
Y has borrado todo recuerdo de ellos.
15 Has aumentado la nación(AD), oh Señor,
Has aumentado la nación, te has glorificado,
Has ensanchado todos los límites de la tierra(AE).
16 Oh Señor, en la angustia te buscaron(AF).
Apenas susurraban una oración[j],
Cuando Tu castigo estaba sobre ellos.
17 Como la mujer encinta, al acercarse el momento de dar a luz,
Se retuerce y grita en sus dolores de parto(AG),
Así éramos nosotros delante de Ti, oh Señor.
18 Estábamos encinta, nos retorcíamos en los dolores,

No logramos liberación para la tierra,

Porque tu rocío es como el rocío del alba[m],

20 ¶Ven, pueblo mío, entra en tus aposentos(AL)
Y cierra tras ti tus puertas;
Escóndete por corto tiempo[p](AM)
Hasta que pase la indignación(AN).
21 Porque el Señor va a salir de Su lugar(AO)
Para castigar[q] la iniquidad de los habitantes de la tierra(AP),
Y la tierra pondrá de manifiesto su sangre derramada(AQ)
Y no ocultará más a sus asesinados.

26 In that day(A) this song will be sung(B) in the land of Judah:
We have a strong city;(C)
God makes salvation
its walls(D) and ramparts.(E)
2 Open the gates(F)
that the righteous(G) nation may enter,
the nation that keeps faith.
3 You will keep in perfect peace(H)
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust(I) in you.
4 Trust(J) in the Lord forever,(K)
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock(L) eternal.
5 He humbles those who dwell on high,
he lays the lofty city low;
he levels it to the ground(M)
and casts it down to the dust.(N)
6 Feet trample(O) it down—
the feet of the oppressed,(P)
the footsteps of the poor.(Q)
7 The path of the righteous is level;(R)
you, the Upright One,(S) make the way of the righteous smooth.(T)
8 Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws,[a](U)
we wait(V) for you;
your name(W) and renown
are the desire of our hearts.
9 My soul yearns for you in the night;(X)
in the morning my spirit longs(Y) for you.
When your judgments(Z) come upon the earth,
the people of the world learn righteousness.(AA)
10 But when grace is shown to the wicked,(AB)
they do not learn righteousness;
even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil(AC)
and do not regard(AD) the majesty of the Lord.
11 Lord, your hand is lifted high,(AE)
but they do not see(AF) it.
Let them see your zeal(AG) for your people and be put to shame;(AH)
let the fire(AI) reserved for your enemies consume them.
12 Lord, you establish peace(AJ) for us;
all that we have accomplished you have done(AK) for us.
13 Lord our God, other lords(AL) besides you have ruled over us,
but your name(AM) alone do we honor.(AN)
14 They are now dead,(AO) they live no more;
their spirits(AP) do not rise.
You punished them and brought them to ruin;(AQ)
you wiped out all memory of them.(AR)
15 You have enlarged the nation, Lord;
you have enlarged the nation.(AS)
You have gained glory for yourself;
you have extended all the borders(AT) of the land.
16 Lord, they came to you in their distress;(AU)
when you disciplined(AV) them,
they could barely whisper(AW) a prayer.[b]
17 As a pregnant woman about to give birth(AX)
writhes and cries out in her pain,
so were we in your presence, Lord.
18 We were with child, we writhed in labor,
but we gave birth(AY) to wind.
We have not brought salvation(AZ) to the earth,
and the people of the world have not come to life.(BA)
19 But your dead(BB) will live, Lord;
their bodies will rise—
let those who dwell in the dust(BC)
wake up and shout for joy—
your dew(BD) is like the dew of the morning;
the earth will give birth to her dead.(BE)
20 Go, my people, enter your rooms
and shut the doors(BF) behind you;
hide(BG) yourselves for a little while
until his wrath(BH) has passed by.(BI)
21 See, the Lord is coming(BJ) out of his dwelling(BK)
to punish(BL) the people of the earth for their sins.
The earth will disclose the blood(BM) shed on it;
the earth will conceal its slain no longer.
