²⁷ In that day^(A) their burden^(B) will be lifted from your shoulders,
    their yoke^(C) from your neck;^(D)
the yoke^(E) will be broken
    because you have grown so fat.^[a]

⁴ For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,^(A)
    you have shattered^(B)
the yoke^(C) that burdens them,
    the bar across their shoulders,^(D)
    the rod of their oppressor.^(E)

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,^(A)
    because he has anointed me
    to proclaim good news^(B) to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,

²⁵ I will crush the Assyrian^(A) in my land;
    on my mountains I will trample him down.
His yoke^(B) will be taken from my people,
    and his burden removed from their shoulders.^(C)”

¹⁵ “Do not touch^(A) my anointed ones;
    do my prophets^(B) no harm.”

⁷ You love righteousness^(A) and hate wickedness;^(B)
    therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
    by anointing^(C) you with the oil of joy.^(D)

⁹ Whatever they plot^(A) against the Lord
    he will bring^[a] to an end;
    trouble will not come a second time.
¹⁰ They will be entangled among thorns^(B)
    and drunk^(C) from their wine;
    they will be consumed like dry stubble.^[b](D)
11 From you, Nineveh, has one come forth
    who plots evil against the Lord
    and devises wicked plans.

“Although they have allies and are numerous,
    they will be destroyed^(E) and pass away.
Although I have afflicted you, Judah,
    I will afflict you no more.^(F)
13 Now I will break their yoke^(G) from your neck
    and tear your shackles away.”^(H)

⁶ Now this I know:
    The Lord gives victory to his anointed.^(A)
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
    with the victorious power of his right hand.^(B)
