¹¹ So ^(A)Ephraim has become like a silly dove, ^(B)without a heart of wisdom;
They call to ^(C)Egypt; they go to ^(D)Assyria.

⁹ For they have gone up to ^(A)Assyria
Like ^(B)a wild donkey all alone;
Ephraim has ^(C)hired ^[a]lovers.

12 ^[a]Ephraim feeds on ^(A)wind
And pursues the ^(B)east wind continually;
He abounds in falsehood and destruction.
Moreover, ^[b]he cuts a covenant with Assyria,
And oil is carried to Egypt.
