²⁶ For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, ^(A)holy, innocent, unstained, ^(B)separated from sinners, and ^(C)exalted above the heavens.

Jesus the Great High Priest

¹⁴ Since then we have ^(A)a great high priest ^(B)who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, ^(C)let us hold fast our confession. ¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest ^(D)who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been ^(E)tempted as we are, ^(F)yet without sin.

^21 (A)For our sake he made him to be sin ^(B)who knew no sin, so that in him we might become ^(C)the righteousness of God.

^2 (A)He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but ^(B)also for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus, High Priest of a Better Covenant

8 Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, ^(A)one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,

^22 (A)He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.

⁵ You know that ^(A)he appeared in order to ^(B)take away sins, and ^(C)in him there is no sin.

² looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, ^(A)who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising ^(B)the shame, and ^(C)is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹¹ And every priest stands ^(A)daily at his service, ^(B)offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, ^(C)which can never take away sins. ¹² But when Christ^[a] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he ^(D)sat down at the right hand of God, ¹³ waiting from that time ^(E)until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. ¹⁴ For by a single offering ^(F)he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

¹⁵ And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,

¹⁷ then he adds,

¹⁸ Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

The Full Assurance of Faith

^19 (I)Therefore, brothers,^[b] since we have confidence to enter ^(J)the holy places by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by ^(K)the new and living way that he opened for us through ^(L)the curtain, that is, through his flesh, ²¹ and since we have ^(M)a great priest over the house of God, ²² let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts ^(N)sprinkled clean ^(O)from an evil conscience and our bodies ^(P)washed with pure water.
