La gloria del nuevo templo
2 En el mes séptimo, a los veintiún días del mes, vino palabra de Jehová por medio del profeta Hageo, diciendo: 2 Habla ahora a Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, gobernador de Judá, y a Josué hijo de Josadac, sumo sacerdote, y al resto del pueblo, diciendo: 3 ¿Quién ha quedado entre vosotros que haya visto esta casa en su gloria primera,(A) y cómo la veis ahora? ¿No es ella como nada delante de vuestros ojos? 4 Pues ahora, Zorobabel, esfuérzate, dice Jehová; esfuérzate también, Josué hijo de Josadac, sumo sacerdote; y cobrad ánimo, pueblo todo de la tierra, dice Jehová, y trabajad; porque yo estoy con vosotros, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. 5 Según el pacto que hice con vosotros cuando salisteis de Egipto, así mi Espíritu estará en medio de vosotros,(B) no temáis. 6 Porque así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: De aquí a poco yo haré temblar los cielos y la tierra,(C) el mar y la tierra seca; 7 y haré temblar a todas las naciones, y vendrá el Deseado de todas las naciones; y llenaré de gloria esta casa, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos. 8 Mía es la plata, y mío es el oro, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. 9 La gloria postrera de esta casa será mayor que la primera, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos; y daré paz en este lugar, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.
La infidelidad del pueblo es reprendida
10 A los veinticuatro días del noveno mes, en el segundo año de Darío, vino palabra de Jehová por medio del profeta Hageo, diciendo: 11 Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: Pregunta ahora a los sacerdotes acerca de la ley, diciendo: 12 Si alguno llevare carne santificada en la falda de su ropa, y con el vuelo de ella tocare pan, o vianda, o vino, o aceite, o cualquier otra comida, ¿será santificada? Y respondieron los sacerdotes y dijeron: No. 13 Y dijo Hageo: Si un inmundo a causa de cuerpo muerto(D) tocare alguna cosa de estas, ¿será inmunda? Y respondieron los sacerdotes, y dijeron: Inmunda será. 14 Y respondió Hageo y dijo: Así es este pueblo y esta gente delante de mí, dice Jehová; y asimismo toda obra de sus manos; y todo lo que aquí ofrecen es inmundo. 15 Ahora, pues, meditad en vuestro corazón desde este día en adelante, antes que pongan piedra sobre piedra en el templo de Jehová. 16 Antes que sucediesen estas cosas, venían al montón de veinte efas, y había diez; venían al lagar para sacar cincuenta cántaros, y había veinte. 17 Os herí con viento solano, con tizoncillo y con granizo en toda obra de vuestras manos; mas no os convertisteis a mí, dice Jehová. 18 Meditad, pues, en vuestro corazón, desde este día en adelante, desde el día veinticuatro del noveno mes, desde el día que se echó el cimiento del templo de Jehová; meditad, pues, en vuestro corazón. 19 ¿No está aún la simiente en el granero? Ni la vid, ni la higuera, ni el granado, ni el árbol de olivo ha florecido todavía; mas desde este día os bendeciré.
Promesa de Jehová a Zorobabel
20 Vino por segunda vez palabra de Jehová a Hageo, a los veinticuatro días del mismo mes, diciendo: 21 Habla a Zorobabel gobernador de Judá, diciendo: Yo haré temblar los cielos y la tierra; 22 y trastornaré el trono de los reinos, y destruiré la fuerza de los reinos de las naciones; trastornaré los carros y los que en ellos suben, y vendrán abajo los caballos y sus jinetes, cada cual por la espada de su hermano. 23 En aquel día, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, te tomaré, oh Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, siervo mío, dice Jehová, y te pondré como anillo de sellar; porque yo te escogí, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

3 (C)кой остана между вас, който е видял тоя Дом в предишната му слава, и какъв го вие виждате сега? Не е ли той във вашите очи като да е нищо?
4 (D)Но ободри се сега, Зоровавеле, казва Господ, ободри се, Иисусе, сине Иоседеков, велики иерею! ободри се, цели народе на тая земя, казва Господ, и работете, защото Аз съм с вас, казва Господ Саваот.
5 Моят завет, който сключих с вас, кога излязохте из Египет, и Моят Дух пребъдва среди вас: не бойте се!
6 (E)Защото тъй казва Господ Саваот: още един път, – и ето, скоро ще бъде, – ще потреса небе и земя, море и суша;
7 (F)ще потреса всички народи, – и ще дойде Желаният от всички народи; ще изпълня тоя Дом със слава, казва Господ Саваот.
8 Среброто е Мое и златото е Мое, казва Господ Саваот.
9 (G)Славата на тоя последен храм ще бъде по-голяма, отколкото на предишния, казва Господ Саваот; и на това място ще дам мир, казва Господ Саваот.
10 На двайсет и четвъртия ден от деветия месец, през втората година на Дария, биде слово Господне чрез пророк Агея:
11 (H)тъй казва Господ Саваот: попитай свещениците за закона и кажи:
12 (I)ако някой носеше осветено месо в полата на дрехата си и с полата си се допре до хляб, или до нещо варено, или до вино, или до елей, или до някоя храна, ще стане ли това свещено? И отговориха свещениците и рекоха: не.
13 (J)Сетне рече Агей: ако пък се допре до всичко това някой, който се е осквернил от допиране до мъртвец, ще стане ли това нечисто? И отговориха свещениците и рекоха: ще стане нечисто.
14 Тогава отговори Агей и рече: такъв е тоя народ, такова е това племе пред Мене, казва Господ, и такива са всички дела на ръцете им! И каквото те принасят там, всичко е нечисто.
15 Сега обърнете сърцето си за времето от тоя ден и назад, когато още не беше положен камък върху камък в храма Господен.
16 (K)Дохождаха при кръстец, който може да даде двайсет мери, и се оказваха само десет; дохождаха при чебър, за да нагребат петдесет мери от него, и се оказваха само двайсет.
17 (L)Поразявах ви с главня и с жълтеница по житата и с градушка във всички трудове на ръцете ви; но вие не се обръщахте към Мене, казва Господ.
18 Обърнете сърцето си за времето от тоя ден и назад, от двайсет и четвъртия ден на деветия месец, от оня ден, когато беше основан храмът Господен; обърнете сърцето си:
19 (M)има ли още в житниците семе? досега ни лоза, ни смокиня, ни нар, ни маслина не даваха плод; а от тоя ден Аз ги благославям.
20 И биде слово Господне към Агея повторно на двайсет и четвъртия ден от месеца, и казано бе:
21 кажи на Зоровавеля, управителя на Иудея: ще разтърся небе и земя;
22 (N)ще срутя престоли на царства и ще изтребя силата на царствата езически; ще превърна колесници и седещите на тях, и повалени ще бъдат конете и конниците им, един с меча на другиго.
23 (O)В оня ден, казва Господ Саваот, ще те взема, Зоровавеле, сине Салатиилев, рабе Мой, казва Господ, и ще те държа като печат, защото те избрах, казва Господ Саваот.

2 1 on the twenty-first day of the seventh month,(A) the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai:(B) 2 “Speak to Zerubbabel(C) son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jozadak,[a](D) the high priest, and to the remnant(E) of the people. Ask them, 3 ‘Who of you is left who saw this house(F) in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing?(G) 4 But now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord. ‘Be strong,(H) Joshua son of Jozadak,(I) the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work. For I am with(J) you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. 5 ‘This is what I covenanted(K) with you when you came out of Egypt.(L) And my Spirit(M) remains among you. Do not fear.’(N)
6 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while(O) I will once more shake the heavens and the earth,(P) the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and what is desired(Q) by all nations will come, and I will fill this house(R) with glory,(S)’ says the Lord Almighty. 8 ‘The silver is mine and the gold(T) is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty. 9 ‘The glory(U) of this present house(V) will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,(W)’ declares the Lord Almighty.”
Blessings for a Defiled People
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month,(X) in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Haggai: 11 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Ask the priests(Y) what the law says: 12 If someone carries consecrated meat(Z) in the fold of their garment, and that fold touches some bread or stew, some wine, olive oil or other food, does it become consecrated?(AA)’”
The priests answered, “No.”
13 Then Haggai said, “If a person defiled by contact with a dead body touches one of these things, does it become defiled?”
“Yes,” the priests replied, “it becomes defiled.(AB)”
14 Then Haggai said, “‘So it is with this people(AC) and this nation in my sight,’ declares the Lord. ‘Whatever they do and whatever they offer(AD) there is defiled.
15 “‘Now give careful thought(AE) to this from this day on[b]—consider how things were before one stone was laid(AF) on another in the Lord’s temple.(AG) 16 When anyone came to a heap(AH) of twenty measures, there were only ten. When anyone went to a wine vat(AI) to draw fifty measures, there were only twenty.(AJ) 17 I struck all the work of your hands(AK) with blight,(AL) mildew and hail,(AM) yet you did not return(AN) to me,’ declares the Lord.(AO) 18 ‘From this day on, from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, give careful thought(AP) to the day when the foundation(AQ) of the Lord’s temple was laid. Give careful thought: 19 Is there yet any seed left in the barn? Until now, the vine and the fig tree, the pomegranate(AR) and the olive tree have not borne fruit.(AS)
“‘From this day on I will bless(AT) you.’”

20 The word of the Lord came to Haggai(AU) a second time on the twenty-fourth day of the month:(AV) 21 “Tell Zerubbabel(AW) governor of Judah that I am going to shake(AX) the heavens and the earth. 22 I will overturn(AY) royal thrones and shatter the power of the foreign kingdoms.(AZ) I will overthrow chariots(BA) and their drivers; horses and their riders(BB) will fall, each by the sword of his brother.(BC)
23 “‘On that day,(BD)’ declares the Lord Almighty, ‘I will take you, my servant(BE) Zerubbabel(BF) son of Shealtiel,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will make you like my signet ring,(BG) for I have chosen you,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”
