15 Wedi ’r pethau hyn, y daeth gair yr Arglwydd at Abram mewn gweledigaeth, gan ddywedyd, Nac ofna, Abram; myfi ydyw dy darian, dy wobr mawr iawn. 2 A dywedodd Abram, Arglwydd Dduw, beth a roddi di i mi? gan fy mod yn myned yn ddi‐blant, a goruchwyliwr fy nhŷ yw Eleasar yma o Damascus. 3 Abram hefyd a ddywedodd, Wele, ni roddaist i mi had; ac wele, fy nghaethwas fydd fy etifedd. 4 Ac wele air yr Arglwydd ato ef, gan ddywedyd, Nid hwn fydd dy etifedd, onid un a ddaw allan o’th ymysgaroedd di fydd dy etifedd. 5 Ac efe a’i dug ef allan, ac a ddywedodd, Golyga yn awr y nefoedd, a rhif y sêr, o gelli eu cyfrif hwynt: dywedodd hefyd wrtho, Felly y bydd dy had di. 6 Yntau a gredodd yn yr Arglwydd, ac efe a’i cyfrifodd iddo yn gyfiawnder. 7 Ac efe a ddywedodd wrtho, Myfi yw yr Arglwydd, yr hwn a’th ddygais di allan o Ur y Caldeaid, i roddi i ti y wlad hon i’w hetifeddu. 8 Yntau a ddywedodd, Arglwydd Dduw, trwy ba beth y caf wybod yr etifeddaf hi? 9 Ac efe a ddywedodd wrtho, Cymer i mi anner dair blwydd, a gafr dair blwydd, a hwrdd tair blwydd, a thurtur, a chyw colomen. 10 Ac efe a gymerth iddo y rhai hyn oll, ac a’u holltodd hwynt ar hyd eu canol, ac a roddodd bob rhan ar gyfer ei gilydd; ond ni holltodd efe yr adar. 11 A phan ddisgynnai yr adar ar y celaneddau, yna Abram a’u tarfai hwynt. 12 A phan oedd yr haul ar fachludo, y syrthiodd trymgwsg ar Abram: ac wele ddychryn, a thywyllni mawr, yn syrthio arno ef. 13 Ac efe a ddywedodd wrth Abram, Gan wybod gwybydd, y bydd dy had di yn ddieithr mewn gwlad nid yw eiddynt, ac a’u gwasanaethant, a hwythau a’u cystuddiant bedwar can mlynedd. 14 A’r genhedlaeth hefyd yr hon a wasanaethant, a farnaf fi: ac wedi hynny y deuant allan â chyfoeth mawr. 15 A thi a ei at dy dadau mewn heddwch: ti a gleddir mewn henaint teg. 16 Ac yn y bedwaredd oes y dychwelant yma; canys ni chyflawnwyd eto anwiredd yr Amoriaid. 17 A bu, pan fachludodd yr haul, a hi yn dywyll, wele ffwrn yn mygu, a lamp danllyd yn tramwyo rhwng y darnau hynny. 18 Yn y dydd hwnnw y gwnaeth yr Arglwydd gyfamod ag Abram, gan ddywedyd, I’th had di y rhoddais y wlad hon, o afon yr Aifft hyd yr afon fawr, afon Ewffrates: 19 Y Ceneaid, a’r Cenesiaid, a’r Cadmoniaid. 20 Yr Hethiaid hefyd, a’r Pheresiaid, a’r Reffaimiaid, 21 Yr Amoriaid hefyd, a’r Canaaneaid, a’r Girgasiaid, a’r Jebusiaid.

God’s Covenant with Abram(A)
15 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram (B)in a vision, saying, (C)“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your (D)shield, [a]your exceedingly (E)great reward.”
2 (F)But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, (G)seeing I [b]go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed (H)one[c] born in my house is my heir!”
4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who (I)will come from your own body shall be your heir.” 5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and (J)count the (K)stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, (L)“So shall your (M)descendants be.”
6 And he (N)believed in the Lord, and He (O)accounted it to him for righteousness.
7 Then He said to him, “I am the Lord, who (P)brought you out of (Q)Ur of the Chaldeans, (R)to give you this land to inherit it.”
8 And he said, “Lord God, (S)how shall I know that I will inherit it?”
9 So He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” 10 Then he brought all these to Him and (T)cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other; but he did not cut (U)the birds in two. 11 And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
12 Now when the sun was going down, (V)a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. 13 Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly (W)that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and (X)they will afflict them four hundred years. 14 And also the nation whom they serve (Y)I will judge; afterward (Z)they shall come out with great possessions. 15 Now as for you, (AA)you shall [d]go (AB)to your fathers in peace; (AC)you shall be buried at a good old age. 16 But (AD)in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity (AE)of the Amorites (AF)is not yet complete.”
17 And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that (AG)passed between those pieces. 18 On the same day the Lord (AH)made a covenant with Abram, saying:
(AI)“To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— 19 the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

The Lord’s Covenant With Abram
15 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram(A) in a vision:(B)
2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord,(F) what can you give me since I remain childless(G) and the one who will inherit[c] my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?(H)” 3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant(I) in my household(J) will be my heir.”
4 Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.(K)” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars(L)—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring[d] be.”(M)
6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.(N)
7 He also said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out(O) of Ur of the Chaldeans(P) to give you this land to take possession of it.”(Q)
8 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord,(R) how can I know(S) that I will gain possession of it?”(T)
9 So the Lord said to him, “Bring me a heifer,(U) a goat and a ram, each three years old,(V) along with a dove and a young pigeon.(W)”
10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other;(X) the birds, however, he did not cut in half.(Y) 11 Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses,(Z) but Abram drove them away.
12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep,(AA) and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. 13 Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years(AB) your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved(AC) and mistreated there. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out(AD) with great possessions.(AE) 15 You, however, will go to your ancestors(AF) in peace and be buried at a good old age.(AG) 16 In the fourth generation(AH) your descendants will come back here,(AI) for the sin of the Amorites(AJ) has not yet reached its full measure.”
17 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch(AK) appeared and passed between the pieces.(AL) 18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram(AM) and said, “To your descendants I give this land,(AN) from the Wadi[e] of Egypt(AO) to the great river, the Euphrates(AP)— 19 the land of the Kenites,(AQ) Kenizzites, Kadmonites, 20 Hittites,(AR) Perizzites,(AS) Rephaites,(AT) 21 Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.”(AU)

15 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: (A)“Fear not, Abram, I am (B)your shield; your reward shall be very great.” 2 But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue[a] childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and (C)a member of my household will be my heir.” 4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; (D)your very own son[b] shall be your heir.” 5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and (E)number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, (F)“So shall your offspring be.” 6 And (G)he believed the Lord, and (H)he counted it to him as righteousness.

And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him. 13 Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain (O)that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and (P)they will be afflicted for (Q)four hundred years. 14 But (R)I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward (S)they shall come out with great possessions. 15 As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; (T)you shall be buried in a good old age. 16 And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for (U)the iniquity of the Amorites (V)is not yet complete.”
17 When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. 18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, (W)“To your offspring I give[c] this land, from (X)the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, 19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”
