⁸ Now it happened that in the morning ^(A)his spirit was troubled, so he sent and called for all the ^[a](B)magicians of Egypt and all its ^(C)wise men. And Pharaoh recounted to them his dream, but ^(D)there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.

¹¹ Then Pharaoh also ^(A)called for the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the ^[a](B)magicians of Egypt, did ^[b]the same with ^(C)their secret arts.

²⁰ And as for every matter of ^(A)wisdom in understanding which the king sought from them, he found them ^(B)ten times ^(C)better than all the ^[a](D)magicians and conjurers who were in all his kingdom.

¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered ^[a]the king and said, “There is not a man on earth who is able to declare the matter ^[b]for the king, inasmuch as no great king or powerful ruler has ever asked about a matter like this of any ^[c](A)magician, conjurer, or Chaldean.

²⁷ Daniel answered before the king and said, “As for the mystery about which the king is asking, neither ^(A)wise men, conjurers, ^[a]magicians, nor diviners are able to declare it to the king.

⁶ So I gave a decree to ^(A)bring into my presence all the wise men of Babylon, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

⁷ The king called out loudly to bring in the ^(A)conjurers, the ^[a]Chaldeans, and the diviners. The king answered and said to the wise men of Babylon, “Any man who can read this writing and declare its interpretation to me shall be ^(B)clothed with purple and have a ^(C)necklace of gold around his neck and rule with power as ^[b](D)third ruler in the kingdom.”
