³ And God said, ^(A)“Let there be light,” and there was light.

⁶ And God said, ^(A)“Let there be an expanse^[a] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

⁹ And God said, ^(A)“Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.

¹¹ And God said, ^(A)“Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants^[a] yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so.

¹⁴ And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for ^(A)signs and for ^(B)seasons,^[a] and for days and years,

²⁰ And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds^[a] fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.”

²⁴ And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.

²⁶ Then God said, ^(A)“Let us make man^[a] in our image, ^(B)after our likeness. And ^(C)let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

The Word Became Flesh

1 ^(A)In the beginning was ^(B)the Word, and ^(C)the Word was with God, and ^(D)the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ^3 (E)All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

² but ^(A)in these last days ^(B)he has spoken to us by ^(C)his Son, whom he appointed ^(D)the heir of all things, ^(E)through whom also he created ^(F)the world.
